I was introduced to Southern Gospel by my loving father who is now in Heaven. I grew up hearing the Happy Goodmans the Speer Family The Blackwood Brothers and many other Southern Gospel groups. I have drawn much encouragement for these old recordings during the last few months following my beloved papa’s passing.
Well, I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now I'm, gonna make it to Heaven somehow Though the devil tempts me and tries to turn me around He's offered everything that's got a name All the wealth I want and worldly fame If I could still I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now Verse I I started out -travelling for the Lord many years ago I had a lot of heartaches and met a lot of grief and woe But when I would stumble, then I would humble down And there I would say I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now Repeat Chorus Verse II There's nothing in this world that that will ever take the place of God's love Silver and gold could never buy His love from up above But when my soul needs a healing and I begin to feeling His power I can say thank the Lord I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now
I'm a huge fan since I was a teenager and that was along time ago! Love these people and to think I get to sing with them when I get to Heaven!!!! Woof!
I was 10. Listening to these people. Basis of my faith group. Their songs just weren’t songs. The words ministered. Can’t wait to meet them one day. 🥰🥰🥰
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe!
I still love the Gaither Homecoming Lineup, but how I wish I’d had the opportunity to see one of their shows when we still had Howard and Vestal, the Speers, Jake Hess, JD Sumner, George Younce and so many more. I can’t wait for heaven so I can sing along with that choir!
My wife and I went to The Gaither Homecoming in Fort Myers, Florida about 10 years ago. A lot of the old-timers were alive then. I ran into a couple of Ernie's Signature Sound guys in the bathroom during intermission. I got to hear Janet Pascal live! And when we were living in West Virginia John Starnes came to an old country church and sang for 2 hours, donations only! He brought tapes and song along.
I'm 34 years old and whereas I wasn't raised on this type of music, I was around it when my mother and grandmother along with my father used to play it on their stereo systems. I'm more of a rock, alternative rock, and hard rock kind of guy, but I really do like the beat and rhythm of this music. It's super catchy and fun. I really do enjoy this particular song a lot.
I appreciate all of these southern gospel singers and the people who grew up with their music! I would have loved to have grown up like this. I can hear them now as God in the Lord Jesus has been so good to me!
Jeremy Martin I really enjoy the old time Southern Gospel, and I really enjoy how the Happy Goodmans walked in humility on this earth, being a light through the gospel lyrics they sang to others. Also, I really like his tie as well, I personally dress up quite often, in suits, and ties because it makes me feel good to look very nice.
All I can say is that I was born in the completely wrong era, I wish we had time machines now where we can go back and get tickets to one of these concerts and hear JD’s bass and vestal’s pure sweet alto. That will be the day when we get to heaven
Nerdy Diva Nikki I enjoy them as well my friend! I am 18 years old. I enjoy Vestal Goodman, I can't wait to meet her in Glory one blessed day! I love how the bring a smile to my heart, as they charm my heart bells of cheer!
I watched Gaither's Pond when I was younger as well. When it aired on KTV, it kept airing repeat reruns between 3 different episodes, and those are the only ones I've seen.
Happy and Vestal sound like Logan Smith but the guy with the goozle neck reminds me of my uncle Blackgeorge, both in his manner of dress and his country glands
My daddy wanted this played when he was leaving us. Thank God he’s with Jesus now but I wouldn’t take nothing for his or my journey now. Love u daddy❤
This was played at my aunt's funeral two weeks ago
🕊️😎🌟💪🏻
Now THIS is good worship music!
The Glory of God literally shines from their faces!
True !
Now this is 100% pure old time Gospel Music! Where you can feel the Holy Ghost!! It just don't get any better than this!
Amen
No one ever sang gospel like the Goodman's! I'm 75 yo and my mom got me into the Goodman's!!!
We have not a high priest who has not been touched by our infirmities! Thank You Jesus!

I started out -travelling for the Lord many years ago
I had a lot of heartaches and met a lot of grief and woe
But when I would stumble, then I would humble down

Make sure you have your house in order so you have that option.
Same!
When I was a young girl I used to put their music on the stereo to sing and praise the Lord. I remember it oh so well. ❤️
Always standing ovations for them !! Does not get better than Howard Vestal and Johnny
Is Johnny related to the Goodman’s ?
It's been since I was a teenager for me and I'm 75!

I agree! Vestal gets my number #1. Not sure I have heard anyone better!

I tell you....my mother got me hooked and she's been gone since 2916. I still ache for my momma, I know the peace that I will see her again!

Thank you very much. God bless you !!!
There's nothing in this world that compares to God's love! Sing on Miss Vestal ❤️
Awesome awesome awesome music. None no better...
Awesome!
Vestal Goodman might possibly be the best Alto singer ever. She was right up there with Cass Elliot.
She is actually a tenor. She battles it out with Johnny Cook, another tenor on "Looking for a City." He sung even higher than Ms Vestal 🎵🎶🎵
Thank God bless
Great singing!God bless you!
I love God's people!
O I just love her voice she's fantastic
