There is no gloping with this beauty, the owner is delighted with his pen. It was not mentioned as i thought it is common knowledge that the 51 Special was the economy version of the 51s.....Thanks for watching...
What types of inks can be use to fill this pen? I have some water-based, shellac-free ink from Art Alternatives and I'm apprehensive to use it because of the difficulties of cleaning out the ink pouch.
The way you filled it is not the preferred method and may likely have the pen glop a drop of two of ink for the user as a result. You also missed the opportunity to explain the differences in the pen relating to them being a bit cheaper for Parker to produce and sell. That pen is earlier than '58. '57 was the last year for "Use Superchrome ink" on the filler.

I would not use any kind of art ink even though it maybe fine. Stick to standard Parker Quink. Good luck.
I have a Parker 51 Special and it is missing a part or two in the ink transfer. How can I get this repaired? Thanks
+Jim King Why not send me a PM with some details.

Mine is a mixture of two vintage Parker Quink bottles. It is not planed i just like the old Parker ink....
Try experimenting until your happy with the colour...
i have myself 8 vintage bottles of parker quink blue and 12 of black. hence i wanted to know. they are from 1930s
But what is approx proportion?
the 'U-bar' of my 51 special has come loose and can be removed. Is there any way to reattach the bar?
I believe they are soldered on one side. Try searching for a replacement, i dont think they are expensive.
thanks
