Spite, in case no one mentioned it, the entire Astartes project was made by ONE GUY
We all know the drill. Please watch Bricky's "Every single Warhammer 40k Faction Explained" part 1 and 2 by Bricky if you haven't already. Even though Bricky messes some things up or misinterprets others, his videos are by far the most noob friendly introduction to the universe.

@@darkstridertan5907 he ironically wasn't paying attention to the plot and missed all the points he complained about. Irony!
They are actually talking to each other, just over "VOX" (W40K's version of radio chatter) You can hear their muffled noises when they talk to each other, but the creator made it that because the "camera's POV" is outside their armour/helmet you can't hear them speak. Also because this is made by ONE GUY, it's to save having to find voice actors, as he's said himself that he's not very good at it. He did the voices that are in the animation, and everything is said is super muffled and heavily distorted (like the chaotic aliens speaking to each other via the warp/telepathy, that the Inquisitor is eaves dropping on).
This is the dialogue between the orbs
"...no escape. I have failed brother."
'We have all failed. The Astartes deny our touch. You must return, break your seal."
"Impossible, (I) will never survive."
"You must! Take them!"
And the Inquisitor says "Recall them IMMEDIATELY!"
“WHO IS THERE? I have failed”

You missed the bit at the start where one says "Who is here?"

@@titytitmk2738 Never heard that and everyone seems to perpetuate it. To me it doesn't make sense in the context of the dialogue. But the one I posted was from Syama Pedersen's Q&A reddit post.
I’m a big Warhammer fan, and Astartes was one of my fav fan animations
11:57 - They gave him the Emperor's Peace while he was still human and not a warpspawn, a possessed psyker, or an open gateway to the Warp (the Sea of Souls from which psykers draw their power)
Note - there's nearly no dialogue for the entire short film because the Space Marines have their vox/communicators inside their helmets. If you're standing right next to one, all you'll hear is a little click as the transmission begins (per Helsreach).
When the Inquisitorial Sanctioned Psyker breaks his attention from his link with the cogitator and the alien sphere on the ship he shouts as loud as he can "RECALL THEM IMMEDIATELY!"
This lapse of attention dooms him as the sphere starts pushing in, starting the symptoms of possession/becoming a gateway, etc. He starts chanting at a volume louder than the most loud he can voluntarily be.

He would've been if not has been dispatched so quickly and brutally. And those guys were mere seconds from a brutal death themselves. There's no such thing as overkill when dealing with a possessed psykers, because those tend to become a planetary level threat in a matter of hours if left unchecked.

The Inquesetrer tells the Captain what he hears the Xeno Orbs saying to others.
The Captain orders the soldier to warn the squadron that they are in danger on the enemy ship.

11:14 you're kind of right and that's kind of the reason why they killed him so quickly psychers as they're called can be immensely powerful especially when they're unstable
That one alone could have turned himself into a bomb and blown up the entire ship in one go so if they can do it killing them before they have a chance to do anything is ideal
What you saw there was not meant to be an epic fight what you saw there was a bomb defusal
or worse he tears a hole into the Warp allowing all manner of nasty things to invade the ship
I really like spite cuz shes constantly "oh thats hot" "oh this makes them hot" or something and even though she might not say a trate i have she says it so often that statistically shes had to have said one thing that makes me attractive and that makes me more confident

The laser canon damaged the space marine, hence why he ducked around the corner.
If you look in the background behind the giant gold body, you'll see more golden heads with external spines. Probably awaiting more host bodies.
The man in the robe is Part of a group called The Inquisition (demon hunters by the symbol on the back). His psychic abilities allowed him to listen in on the two spheres but thats a 2way link allowing possession. They shot him down before he could become a demonhost (consider this a Warhammer 40k exorcism).
The dark force that grabbed the glowing being holding the marines was the last vestiges of the psychic freeing them. Even in death they serve the Emperor..

That symbol on his back is the generic Inquisitorial symbol, not restricted to any Ordos.
@@leadpaintchips9461 I was going by one of the wh40k lexicanum. In it this was the triple crossbar capital I with the skull, specifically Ordo Hereticus (though given the regular changes throughout the rulebooks, I'm not spending a nation's GDP just to keep up with all of it. ). I believe Ordo Malleus looked hammer-ish and Ordo Xenos had weird little curly bits.
Whatever, movie still looked cool.
@@craigfurness5278 The one with the skull is a generic symbol for the Inquisition. One thing I've learned being interested in 40k's Inquisition, is to not trust out of hand any of their wikis out of hand. Lotta stuff on there that people just made up.

lmao.. just stumbled onto this video. 11:44 Well... he technically 'was' a force to be reconned with. That was a Tech-priest. Basically half cyborg with the ability to control/talk with the machines used by the ship he was in/on. That 'orb' basically started to take control over him..... so the Astarties made sure the could 'not' be controlled, in the quickest and most efficient way possible.
That wasn't a tech priest, that was a inquisitorial sanctioned psyker.
@@Andaius20 Figured it was a Tech-priest working with the Inquisition considering all the cables coming from him.
Many things wrong there, Tech priests would have the Cog and skull of the Mechanicus he clearly had the Inquisitorial stylized " I" of the Inquisition. He was also a Psyker, so NOT a tech priest as they aren't psykers. Normal folks are capable of using tech you know....
@@Andaius20 yes, i know normal people are capable of using tech, and nothing says a Tech-priest couldnt also work for the Inquisition. I'd actually be shocked if none did. :)
"Normal people" using Tech in 40k generally is relegated to replaced body parts or the like, or typing on keypads. Not direct data-ports like those cables were. Thats more along the line of Tech-priests or Moderatii on Titans. :)
@@Gwydion_Wolf They do but thewy'd never display another factions iconography, It' would be the cog and skull only. Also he has no cyberware, I don't know how just having a mask connected to a cogitator thats monitoring the warp gateway to spy one the warp creatures have you thinking it must be tech priest. It's clearly a psyker.... thats the whole bit in that scene him watching them in the warp talking to each other...
the Spheres are the protective shells of Warp based entities because Real Space is just a toxic to warp beings as the Warp just is dangerous to humans when entering unprotected so in a way the Spheres are like a Submersible
if it tells you anything, plasma based weapons are often called flash lights, that's the type of world 40k is.

Back before it was confirmed by the creator that the Xenos was a fan creation by him, it was theorized by Arch that they were the Yu'Vath. Still a good video to check out by Arch as the Yu'Vath are still one of the most mysterious and creepy species created by GW; since they are one of the few races that have managed to break the rules of the universe.
10:50 They are talking but since this was made by 1 person he likely didn't want to use his voice for all of them. So it just sounds like muffled sounds. The guy in red was listening to the orbs(daemons) communicating and warned the others but it was too late.
I am here to shill If The Emperor Had A Text To Speech Device. I would suggest Bricky's videos first because the first few episodes of TTS are less noob friendly than later ones, though you can absolutely just dive in head first.

As soon as possible before you play Space Marine 2. I and many others would recommend you watch Bricky's "Every single Warhammer 40k Faction Explained" part 1 and 2. His videos will really help you out to understand the 40k universe.

I'm seeing with the hype of the Space Marine 2 game everyone has been reacting to Astartes. I've been playing the table top game since 5th edition. So roughly 15 years. I got a bot interest in it somce one of my plder cousin been playinh it since the mid/late 90s.
I highly recommend the youtube channel "Bricky" for his explanational videos into the world that's Warhammer 40k. Like his video "What is Warhammer?" And "Every Single Warhammer 40k Faction Explained".

That marine did NOT lose an eye. All those two psykers managed was cracking the outside lens piece. His eye is fine as evident in the final scene.
