I tried those authentx lures for the first time yesterday after getting skunked fishing live bait all day and caught three walleye right in a row. Made a believer out of me.
You guys have a nice fishery on that river, however them last two fish were more like 7lbs each. If you want some big walleye you have to make it down here to the Detroit river in spring. Fish here can be found in the 14lb range with common 10's caught everyday. You guys rock when it comes to finding the great fishing spots, keep it up.
Where I live we have a very diverse number of species to fish, Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Cutbow Trout, Splake (Lake Trout-Brook Trout mix) and maybe some other Trout I forgot. Yes, you can catch any kind of fish you want, as long as it's trout. However, the biggest Cutthroat I ever caught was on a Marabou jig tipped with a Moxi that I first saw in In Depth Outdoors. I knew they would work for trout. I also like the look on people faces when they see what's on the end of my line.
I grew up in Rainy River,Ont. and let me tell you....these guy's are not exaggerating about the size and amounts you will catch. I use ANY bright jig and med size minnows and position the boat approx. 75-100 feet from shore and cast INTO the shore (low water) and slowly draw that jig towards the boat. Try this combo and you will be surprised. I just got a 29 1/2"er' the other day!
You guys should check out the Fox River in De Pere Wisconsin, casting cranks up by the dam prespawn... Consitantly catch 5-8 lb walleyes, with the occasional 10-12 plus. amazing fishery. Same class fish you're catching here. Thanks for another awesome show IDO!
What's the season rules? Nearest I can tell Walleye season in MN starts 5/9 but you're saying in April you can fish the river? Is this the Canada side of things? Thanks for helping me out!
No, I don't think so. We would have noticed hook marks in the mouths if we were "recycling" the same fish over and over. There's just an incredible number of big fish in that river in the spring. If you time it right the bite is out of this world.
Sit on shore, cast out and slowly retrieve your jig,or use a pickerel rig and you will bring em' in all day long. 25"-30" fish all day long, but let the big ones go and only keep some 16"-18" fish for a great feed. Put the BIG Mama's back please!
you guys should try that technique along the St Lawrence in/around Montreal, CA. When the river rises in the spring, I find myself catching 5-10 lb fish easily from shore, in cloudy water, and strikes routinely come in 1-2 ft of water. so much fun and the fish are alive on the water's surface if timed just right with fly/bug hatch. SOOO much fun!!
I won a fishing derby last year using these plastics. I had been casting into a weed bed for 30 min catching nothing but dinks. One cast with a BfishN plastic and BAM!!! landed a tank. This video lead to my purchase. Great job boys! !!
Need some advice. Theres a lake by my house that is off limits for boats. However it has walleyes some decent size ones. From shore there are weeds everywhere so casting out far is a must. What is the best method of rigging/fishing/bait for my situation? Tips please.
...but...but...but...I wanna see more ice fishing! Nice walleyes, and I know you guys are still going to put up ice content. Any schedule on when you will post them?
The season definitely was not closed and the river where we fished crawls with boats. We just don't show them on camera. Trust that we would never, ever target any species out of season.
How my god these walleye are so big. They really look like zander not only by the silverish color but also by the size of these fish. I only fish zander when the water is high, dirty and when there's alot of current. That and prespawn are the best time for big fat monster. Regards from Europe
Fished the mouth of the Littlefork/ Rainy River today. The two rivers collide and create deeper water where the 'eyes hangout. We found the honeyhole and limited out today. Love the Rainy.
Do you never weigh the fish because of the weight? Just curious id love to see a video about how to keep fish safe, and responsible out of water time etc.
You had said you film on monday and tuesday an air on saturday ? and iv'e lived in minn almost my whole life, how is it you could be on the rainy on feb 17 ? nice video though. was just going to click post an james say's first fish of 2012 .
+josh militz Chris is using a G Loomis NRX and James is using a St. Croix Legend Elite. Might be a Legend Xtreme, not sure if the Xtreme first came out with a cork handle but it is likely an Elite. I own a couple Xtremes and an NRX and I feel the Xtreme is a much more sensitive rod that has tapers I enjoy and just feels stronger. Not to mention quite a bit cheaper...
Fifth fish and I still do not know the weight of your jigs. I did get water depth right at the end of the first section. Your in a river and have not mentioned the current??nOnce you know what to look for? thats why I'm watching this video How do you read the surface area in relation to shoreline
Hi! Jig weight depends on flow, depth and speed - but the easiest way to cut through all of this and determine if your Jig is the right size is to know if you are feeling bottom or not. Typically we will size down to the smallest jig possible, that allows us to continue to feel the bottom. You do not want to drag the bottom with a heavy jig, if you are dragging and getting snags you need to downsize. Thanks! A great place to find out more in detail information on these topics is our web forums here: www.in-depthoutdoors.com/
That's cool Joshua, Do you live up by the rainy river ? I went to you'r channel and subbed but couldn't leave a comment as nothing there, so then i went to facebook messenger but there are like 30 of same name when searched LOL so figured i'd try here.
I live by grand forks on the mn side of the red river, I've started going in the spring since last year and planning on going more and more. I go in the summer to my friends campground and fish the Canadian side around nestors falls, and i go to the angle like 4 times a year, i know the angle better than the river. But from hearing what they say on these videos about going there in the spring you can find spots from lake chips and such, and looking at Google earth to mark and find landforms. That's what I do to find spots and get ideas on what to look for.
Yes your exactly right on that , And you live in the perfect spot to you'r surrounded by great fishing devils Detroit lakes red lake of woods an ya live on red river you'r right in the middle of a lot of great fishing
I'm not on the red, I'm on the red lake river. And it's also very good caught multiple 20+ pound cats. 3 20+ inch eyes. My friend caught a 28 inch eye. But yes it's a very nice area, 2-4 hours one way and I'm on world class waters and 5+ is getting close to lac seul and I went during summer fished 5 days, I caught a 21 or bigger every night. First fish was a 21 and I wasnt in the water for 30 secs
they recorded this after the walleye season was over. its the breeding season for walleye. u got to listen in the beginning. most shows base during the spawning season. y do u think there is no other boat out there
Way to go guys, got the same kind of action over the fleuve St-Laurent Montreal,Quebec that time of year & it's just so much fun!!
my keyboard is all wet from watching these fish ! omg this river is crazy awesome
I tried those authentx lures for the first time yesterday after getting skunked fishing live bait all day and caught three walleye right in a row. Made a believer out of me.
What a day of fishing.great video
Thanks guys, this gets me pumped to hit the water!! I dream about this place all year long. Nothin beats fishing them spawners
Chris had me dying . . .

awsome fishing!
Bfishing plastics are legit! My confidence bait for sure
The Pulse-R bait with the paddle tail works great on largemouth bass too.
Love your shows. I look forward to it every Sunday. Keep up the good work. Just got back from doing a little ice fishing myself.
Pretty rocking stuff!
It was definitely a day to remember!
Nice job man
Now THATS walleye fishing, omg! 😆😳
Those are some nice eyes!!! I'm from Michigan and the midwest as a whole is awesome for eyes!!!
Some really nice eye's there guys. I fish the Detroit River and we got some nice monster's around here as well. Not always one after another but....
Great show guys
Im so lucky to live an hour from the rainy!
Great vid, I love that river. You should mention that you are fishing the Canadian side of the river.
that is realy crazy action, nice video and like
You sir are a lucky man!

Awesome
10 Days then its my turn !! Thanks for sharing James, i'm responsible for probably 500 views since you posted this vid.
What's the season rules? Nearest I can tell Walleye season in MN starts 5/9 but you're saying in April you can fish the river? Is this the Canada side of things? Thanks for helping me out!
Yes, but what to use in a wider, deeper river, with stronger current, with branch snags, rock snags, volatile water levels and rocky banks?
CPR people, nicely done! Can't wait for Spring 2014
I watch all your vids
I love u...Love uncle Danny
Reviewing the blueprints prespawn 🥸
No, I don't think so. We would have noticed hook marks in the mouths if we were "recycling" the same fish over and over. There's just an incredible number of big fish in that river in the spring. If you time it right the bite is out of this world.
Those were Precision Jigs from B FISH N Tackle Co. You should be able to google them up. They're great heads for fishing plastics.
Sit on shore, cast out and slowly retrieve your jig,or use a pickerel rig and you will bring em' in all day long. 25"-30" fish all day long, but let the big ones go and only keep some 16"-18" fish for a great feed. Put the BIG Mama's back please!

We were using Precision Jigs from B FISH N Tackle. If you google B FISH N Tackle you'll have no issues finding them online.
Cant wait to do this in a few weeks glad i only live 40 miles away
We prefer to eat smaller fish. My favorite size walleye would be 15" +/-. Your mileage may vary.
Great video, I love your channel, I subscribed!
Northern MN on the border with Canada. The Rainy River flows east to west from Rainy Lake to Lake of the Woods.
well boats loaded up lol on my way
I won a fishing derby last year using these plastics. I had been casting into a weed bed for 30 min catching nothing but dinks. One cast with a BfishN plastic and BAM!!! landed a tank. This video lead to my purchase. Great job boys! !!
I really love fishing! I just started, though, so I don't know alot of the terms. Can you make an episode for it? PLEASE :D!
good info on how to fish
That is huge. Thought this was a "fishing" story until I saw the video.
Yeah, we'll likely do a perch or crappie show or two this summer.
8:29 double header lol
Need some advice. Theres a lake by my house that is off limits for boats. However it has walleyes some decent size ones. From shore there are weeds everywhere so casting out far is a must. What is the best method of rigging/fishing/bait for my situation? Tips please.
If there are a lot of weeds I would use a slip bobber that you can cast out past the weed line if possible.
...but...but...but...I wanna see more ice fishing! Nice walleyes, and I know you guys are still going to put up ice content. Any schedule on when you will post them?
The season definitely was not closed and the river where we fished crawls with boats. We just don't show them on camera. Trust that we would never, ever target any species out of season.
Where to buy pulse r plastic in Canada ?Thanks in advance ..
I was watching the guy with that lures smashing walleys...

Have you guys been out there this year? Planning a trip for this coming weekend, any pointers?
will you guys go for pan fish at all during the open water season?
You run a mono leader off the suffix or straight braid
In turbid river water we tie direct.
Did you tie the jig straight to 832, or did you use some leader?
Do you never weigh the fish because of the weight? Just curious id love to see a video about how to keep fish safe, and responsible out of water time etc.
cool
Question for you guys. Based on the current and the direction you were trolling, did you have Canadian fish licenses?
denmark has a completely different species than the usa does. so i think that will make the difference.
I believe it was April 9 - 2012.
can you fish from shore for this time of year
We launched at Birchdale.
O.M.G.
I'm am getting one soon does it come with the head in it or separately
what type of rods do you guys use?
JJness
The season is open for walleye on Rainy untill 12:00 April 14th.
When was this recorded?
How do you pick the fish up like that? I've heard that you can tear up your fingers pretty bad.
only certain species will mess your hands up on the gill plates
Did you lauch your boat at the International Falls or else where?
Were you guys fishing the north side of the river?
That's the most bog fish I've ever seen in one show!
Hogzilla eyes!
16petite - that was 10# test Suffix 832.
You had said you film on monday and tuesday an air on saturday ? and iv'e lived in minn almost my whole life, how is it you could be on the rainy on feb 17 ? nice video though. was just going to click post an james say's first fish of 2012 .
our Zander is imported, but it is 2 different species...
I'd say they are fishing for fun...
lol on lake erie you cannot keep them that size hardly. must be 15 plus. And smallest we get is 16 +
what rods are you guys using
+Morgan Cooper I would like to know too....
Watch again. There is more boats in the episode than you think. lol
James what rod are you using in this vid?
Scott Azure James is using an older St. Croix legend Extreme, other guy is using an NRX
Iam From Japan
I'd almost be embarrassed to catch so many beautiful fish.
Almost.
everytime you stick your fingers in them eyes' mouth, i say to myself, he's crazy! lol.
Try to catch now, when water is 65-75
That first walleye would have been my dinner that night!
Sorry, no schedule.
ok james just said april
There are plenty of other boats in the background at certain points, c'mon.
