Dreamcatcher's Boca definitely brought a lot of new fans to the fandom, most probably bc of Dami's rap. You & I also definitely blew up in Korea as so many radio stations and sports matches play it often. THANK YOU to the owner of this channel for a such a well-made video😊
This I agree! Bang is so iconic to the point everyone dances with it even tho the song doesn't make sense accdg. to my Korean friend 🤣 but still I like it tho! Still knows the choreo up to this day!
Right, I got confused when after school's popular song claimed as First love,,, it's should be BANG! it's their most popular, most loved, most memorable, and the most iconic that people keep remember their group

2015 screams quality!!! Twice, Oh My Girl, Gfriend and CLC are all amazing groups with some of the best discographies in kpop, their titletracks never disappoints 💕
The hardest part of watching isn't the nostalgia. its knowing what we know now about what happened to some of these girls from the older groups. nine muses, ladies code and Fx are some of the harder ones to sit through for me
Personally, I think that Sistar's most popular song was Touch My Body. I haven't heard many songs by Sistar, but Touch My Body was the one song that came up when talking about Sistar almost every time for me. Aside from that, the dedication compared to the result of this video is deserved, perhaps more views for how long it would've taken to edit this video. Thank you.
@@clarkclokoery9390 nope. They barely get a comeback in a year in that shitty company. The reason their songs automatically blew up everytime cause they have the power to do so. Blackpink is the standard man
@@clarkclokoery9390 They are privileged but the bigger the company, the more pressure and hard work as a trainee and vice-versa. Also it is hard to get into the big 3, so they might not have struggled to get fame but they have worked hard to be in the position that they are in now.
Girls Generation are unarguably the original Queens of kpop, with all the members being absolutely successful in their respective solo careers. SNSD are so powerful that they never wear name tags.
Being a kpop fans since 2nd gen era. Proud to watch and know every single one of them. Didn’t stan any group but stan their song. Found a gem (group to stan) which is Mamamoo and Dreamcatcher. ♥️
Did you like Laboum. DreamCatcher should’ve won by now I love them and my daughter has most of their CDs and their light stick which I must say is wickedly sick
Actually kinda sad Rough wasn't there. It was the 1st 3rd Gen song to achieve PAK. But yeaaa I also get it why Me Gustas Tu is listed as the most popular.
i think stans often mark when the groups “blow up” as the start of their careers and get disappointed when the group actually starts to wind down soon after, but they forget how far into their careers the group actually is. i see a lot of people upset that mamamoo weren’t pushed very hard as a group after HIP, forgetting that they were already half a decade into their career and needing to develop their solos.
For GFRIEND song that blew them up is Me Gustas Tu (first gg that surpassed 100 million stream in Melon) and most popular is Rough (first 3rd group got Perfect All Kill and this song got 15 trophies and triple crown)
I've been a KPOP fan for almost 15 years and growing up with these bands was truly amazing. There was no single group stan around me because there was less of us who even liked KPOP so we had to listen to others haha. My friends were into more SNSD while I was into Wondergirls and 2NE1. It seems with 4th Gen it's getting better. I really like Itzy and Stayc. I hope 4th Gen GGs push the industry to collab and not feel like it's always a competition. Multifan is how you keep enjoying a genre.
SNSD songs are mostly very popular. Not only gee. Genie, oh, the boys, i got a boy, lion heart also masterpiece. Even their debut song very popular until now. Nation girl group. 👏👏👏👏
I think their debut song also should be the one that blow them up. Into the New World made them a strong gg at that time and everyone in the industry gets shock when they hear that this is their debut song since it was iconic for all that time
2nd Gen K-Pop was the best generation for girl groups. If we’re being honest 2ne1 was the blueprint for the girl crush concept and the hollywave in Korean music. No one did it like them. ♠️💕👑
@@geurgina Yes!! The fanwars then vs today are so different, we would argue and vote for our faves to try to outdo the other but we were never toxic like the fanwars are today.
@김2000해야 I never said 2ne1 were the ones that blew up Kpop, I was just saying that 2ne1 were the ones who made the girl crush concept and brought the hollywave to Kpop. SNSD definitely had their role in blowing up Kpop, they attracted so many fans with their cutesy style, like in Gee.☺️
What sucks about Mago is that it could've possibly started GFriend's second peak. They definitely could've gone much further if they didn't you-know-what. Anyways, stan Viviz and soloist Yuju. Also, support actresses Kim Sojung and Jung Yerin.
Acutally I think Time for the Moon Night was GFRIEND’s second peak. It had a chart reversal after the second week and his #1 on melon real-time and #2 on gaon, got 10 music show wins, and charted for 27 weeks on gaon digital (the longest since navillera which charted 29 weeks, fingertip only charted 13 weeks, love whisper was 12 weeks, and summer rain was 5 weeks, time for the moon night was after summer rain)
Listening to the 2nd Gen GG makes me so nostalgic especially with groups like SNSD, Kara, T-ara and 4 Minute. And it makes me sad to see that is has been years since the latest comeback of some groups.
I got into kpop around 2009, and wow that year had so many hits! That was a fun time to get into kpop, so many fun viral dances. I remember me and my friends all trying to learn the Gee dance together :’)
Thank you for this list and trip down memory lane! Though, I would put "Diva" as the blow out song for After School, and then their most popular song either "Bang!" or "Because of You".
i'd switch d4 for hylt as their most popular song, yeah d4 was groundbreaking in every sense of the word, but hylt quickly became probably the most successful kpop female song in all of kpop and right next to it is d4
I do appreciate how this video order the girl groups according to their debut; from 2nd gen to the recent 4th gen. This video brings us to the memory lane.
@@riddhigupta8792 it’s literally not.. HYLT is one of the most used audios of all time on tiktok, most streamed girl group song Spotify, and if you add the views of the music video and dance performance it even has more views than ddudu on youtube
I didn’t know how you measured the popularity but I think there are some wrong part in my opinion: • I think After School's popular song is Bang! • 4Minute's blown up song is their debut song. • Secret's blown up song actually is Shy Boy. • I think Sistar's popular song is Touch My Body. Anyway, thank you for making this compilations! Great content and very informative! Though I'm kinda sad there is no Spica on the list. Anyway T-ARA coming back in 2021! Check out their latest song 'Tiki Taka'!
This is a really impressive compilation I feel like I saw my youth flash before my eyes LOL Haven't listened to some of these songs regularly since middle school (like 14-15 years ago?? feeling dated LOL), but they do say that music you grew up with stays with you for life and found myself singing the songs again almost out of muscle memory. Gen 2 will always have a special place in my heart. :')
Just some small mistakes: • Twice’s most popular song would definitely be Fancy/Feel Special plus their latest comeback was The Feels. Also I know Cheer Up made them gain a lot of attention but they were really popular from the start • Momoland’s latest comeback was Wrap Me In Plastic
For me, What Is Love is their most popular song as it gets more daily views than their other songs. WIL also will surpass TT soon as Twice's most viewed MV.
My top 5 of 2nd G is: 1. 2NE1 2. SNSD 3. T-ARA 4. SISTAR 5. MISS A And of the new generation is: 1. BLACKPINK 2. TWICE 3. GFRIEND 4. (G)I-DLE 5. RED VELVET
A lot of people argue the definition of blow up. Obviously the level of blow up of big companies and blow up from small companies is different, but it carries the same meaning; brings more recognition and fans. And the definition of most popular song also different but meaning the song that every single soul in the world know. This apply to Blackpink DDDD. It is their most popular song literally every single soul in the world had dduddudduddu in 2018 and their blew up song to the world ! So no argument on that. Of course HYLT is popular and has highest sales but DDDD is their most popular song from non-stan POV.
didn't mamamoo already popular back then in 2016?? i think you're the best is the song that blew them up, and then it follow up till starry night which is their peak success
I'm very surprised that not many have mentioned this so far, but AMAZING job on this compilation! One can see that you put a lot of time, effort and hard work into making this video, and I think people should appreciate it more :) Very impressive, thank you for this video! ❤
Now, let me correct somes of these. Brown Eyed Girls - I believe that in South Korea, their breakthrough single is L.O.V.E. But yes, we can consider Abracadabra as their blew up song since it made them become top girl group. Kara - Their blew up song is Pretty Girl, not Mister. But Mister is indeed Kara's most popular song. Girls' Generation - In South Korea, Kissing You made Girls' Generation become know. Which means Kissing You can consider as Girls' Generation's blew up song. After School - Their most popular song is either Because of You or BANG!, not First Love. And guess what? Flashback is more popular than First Love as well. 4Minute - Hot Issue is their blew up song. 4Minute was already popular wayyyyyy before Volume Up was released. For the most popular song, Crazy might be their most viewed MV, but their best-selling single is What's Your Name. So, yeah, their most popular song is What's Your Name. f(x) - Their blew up song is NU ABO, not Hot Summer. Apink - NoNoNo is not just their blew up song, but also, their most popular. Mamamoo - They are already popular wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy before Starry Night was released. Their blew up song is Um Oh Ah Yeah, and their most popular song is either Decalcomanie or Starry Night. Red Velvet - They are also already popular wayyyyyyyyyyyy before Russian Roulette was released. Their blew up song is Ice Cream Cake, and their biggest hit is Red Flavor. Bad Boy and Psycho might have higher views than Red Flavor, but Red Flavor is their best-selling single. Also, Red Flavor is the most memorable song from them in South Korea. Twice - Until now, their most popular song is still either Cheer Up or TT. I.O.I - Dream Girls was not that popular when it was released. It's Whatta Man that is I.O.I's blew up song. aespa - Beside being their debut song, Black Mamba is also their breakthrough single. Don't forget that they got their first music show win with Black Mamba.
I agree with you except Kara. I think the song that blew up was Honey. Just want to add : After school - blew up song - Diva. Secret - most popular Madonna.

Yeah I was confused about that one too
This I agree! Bang is so iconic to the point everyone dances with it even tho the song doesn't make sense accdg. to my Korean friend 🤣 but still I like it tho! Still knows the choreo up to this day!
Right, I got confused when after school's popular song claimed as First love,,, it's should be BANG! it's their most popular, most loved, most memorable, and the most iconic that people keep remember their group

i think stans often mark when the groups “blow up” as the start of their careers and get disappointed when the group actually starts to wind down soon after, but they forget how far into their careers the group actually is. i see a lot of people upset that mamamoo weren’t pushed very hard as a group after HIP, forgetting that they were already half a decade into their career and needing to develop their solos.
Mamamoo gave strong 2nd gen vibes with their debut among 3rd gens. They'll always be special and unique 🥺
2017 is one of the years having the best kpop songs but one of the most heartbreaking year when so many ggs disappeared as well...
Good list, but would’ve loved to see Rainbow included. “A” is one of the most iconic kpop songs. They were very underrated, but had great music.
Apink Is so ICONIC they never age and they're so Beautiful 😍 17:26
Yesss!!! Apink best GG🐼❤️
I think most popular of Kara is step
Yess!!! Genie is my 3rd fav song. not that u asked but yeah
I don't want to deny it because even I didn't know their names except for Tiffany I always heard their songs anywhere
I think their debut song also should be the one that blow them up. Into the New World made them a strong gg at that time and everyone in the industry gets shock when they hear that this is their debut song since it was iconic for all that time
Isnt snsd's latest was lil touch
@@sparke6352 it is a sub-unit comeback not as a whole group.
2nd Gen K-Pop was the best generation for girl groups. If we’re being honest 2ne1 was the blueprint for the girl crush concept and the hollywave in Korean music. No one did it like them. ♠️💕👑

@김2000해야 here is a glass for u 👓👓👓
A concept that only BLACKPINK continued to make in the 3rd generation and became the most popular among the ggs rn.
Gen 2 songs are still my guilty pleasure. I feel younger listen to those song wtf. And those hit songs’ dance are so iconic.
For twice i agree of everything except the most popular. I think it should be TT.

I didn’t know how you measured the popularity but I think there are some wrong part in my opinion:
• I think After School's popular song is Bang!
This is a really impressive compilation I feel like I saw my youth flash before my eyes LOL
Haven't listened to some of these songs regularly since middle school (like 14-15 years ago?? feeling dated LOL), but they do say that music you grew up with stays with you for life and found myself singing the songs again almost out of muscle memory. Gen 2 will always have a special place in my heart. :')
Just some small mistakes:
• Twice’s most popular song would definitely be Fancy/Feel Special plus their latest comeback was The Feels. Also I know Cheer Up made them gain a lot of attention but they were really popular from the start
• Momoland’s latest comeback was Wrap Me In Plastic
wrap me in plastic was just a collab, not a official comeback
i think twice most famous song is i can't stop me...
For me, What Is Love is their most popular song as it gets more daily views than their other songs. WIL also will surpass TT soon as Twice's most viewed MV.
I agree
Twice the latest comeback song is The Feels
Maybe this is the comeback album, not the song
the feels is not a comeback,its a debut😊

A lot of people argue the definition of blow up. Obviously the level of blow up of big companies and blow up from small companies is different, but it carries the same meaning; brings more recognition and fans.
And the definition of most popular song also different but meaning the song that every single soul in the world know.
This apply to Blackpink DDDD. It is their most popular song literally every single soul in the world had dduddudduddu in 2018 and their blew up song to the world ! So no argument on that. Of course HYLT is popular and has highest sales but DDDD is their most popular song from non-stan POV.

Very impressive, thank you for this video!
Just want to add :
After school - blew up song - Diva.
