Great interview. And great to see my mentor and brother Kariati.
Kadoma produced some great journalists: Andrew Zhakata, Lovemore Musharavati, Michael Kariati, Jabes Lefani, Emmanuel Mavata, Robson Sharuko and myself Japhet Mathanda Ncube.
All cut their teeth at North Midlands Gazette. All didn't go to journalism school. I studied when I was already working at Horizon early 90s.
Sharuko went on to be Sports Editor of The Herald, Kariati to Parade, Sunday Gazette and Sunday Standard, Andrew Zhakata to Parade, Musharavati to Sunday Mail and myself Mathanda Ncube to Parade, Horizon and Drum magazine in SA. I ended up editing SA's biggest broadsheet daily, The Star.
Kariati was a huge part of my career.

Kids should not watch this...a grown man saying "chikoro hachina basa". If he had developed himself with the time he has been writing he'd have reached the very top and become an Editor (like Sharuko) or even running his own media business (like Supa). Chikoro hachina basa is wrong attitude for people with no ambition

That's not what he said. Journalism schools are a new thing. In the 80s going back there wee no journalism school.
If you look at the Drum writers of the 50s in SA, likes of Can Themba, Henry Nxumalo, Nat Nakasa, Todd Matshikiza etc were teachers but ended up as iconic journalists.
      No journalism qualifications.
      Writers are born, not made.
