Gardens Mall is a pretty neat mall-kinda boujee (a lot of the "normal" stores were replaced with high end stuff), but it's gorgeous (especially around the holidays).
Sears still has a lot of appliances in their stores. Could they survive as appliance and repair stores? Someone could still buy the Sears and Kmart brand names and operate an online business like they did Wards. Kmart still has online sales but where would you pick up the merchandise? Has anyone here bought anything from either Kmart or Sears online recently?
There are companies that do a better job at Appliance selling online already so it would be near impossible in 2022 for them to enter the market now. A trend among stores like Macy's or Sears is that they made pretty late or lazy attempts at an online presence so now they lag behind in a market dominated by others. If Sears threw in heavy with online sales and web presence pre 2005 then they would be successful today. As for the repair aspect, lots of newer appliances are not built to last more than 5 years reliably so that kills the repair market mostly.
We don't like it but unfortunately he owns the business and he can do with it what he wants. It's just too bad someone didn't buy Sears and Kmart who wanted to save them. Part of the blame is on the consumers who flock to Walmart and Amazon and kill the other retailers.
Cool video. And what a neat looking mall. Thanks
