To begin with the original Dubstep was like a crossbreed between Reggae music and drum and bass or something and even up to these days there is, in my oppinion, beautiful dubstep-ish music. Blackmill is probably the most famous youtube person who makes Chillstep (subgenre of dubstep). also look up channels like 17Tumba and Mrsuicidesheep who upload lots of chilled Dubstep and other electronic music which has nothing to do with Skrillex and stuff.
No, meaning is something that is a hot debate withing different philosophers and one can't really say that there is a correct way of understanding if something has meaning or not.
