Hansel and Gretel, two siblings of a poor woodcutter, were abandoned in the forest by their stepmother during a time of great famine. She convinced their reluctant father that they couldn’t survive with so little food. On their first abandonment, Hansel cleverly left a trail of shining pebbles, which led them back home. However, when they were abandoned a second time, Hansel used breadcrumbs, but birds ate them, leaving the children lost in the forest. 🌲🐦
Wandering, they discovered a house made of bread, cake, and sugar windows. Hungry, they began eating it, only to be invited inside by a wicked witch who captured Hansel to fatten him up for a feast. Gretel, forced to help, used her wit to outsmart the witch by pretending not to understand how to check the oven. When the witch leaned in, Gretel shoved her inside, locking the door and burning her. Hansel and Gretel were freed and found treasures in the witch's house, which they took with them. 🏠🔥💎
A kind duck helped them cross a river, and they eventually found their way back home, where their father welcomed them with open arms. Their stepmother had died, and the family was reunited, living happily with the riches they had brought. Hansel and Gretel’s courage, cleverness, and love for each other saved them from peril and brought them joy in the end. 🦆❤️✨
