- This video was requested by Midnite Peace. She wanted clips of 'China Beach' to show the tragedy of the Vietnam War and give an idea of what the war was like to the song 'Eve Of Destruction'. I hope I did it justice.
This Song is sung by the Kingston Trio. You Tube won't let me download original song by the Turtles with the video.
China beach was an awesome show!
I loved this show. During the war I was in high school and college. I just didn’t want to deal with it. I had friends and relatives that went, but I never knew anyone personally that died.
CHINA BEACH and TOUR OF DUTY were obsessions of mine. And they finally brought me into the Vietnam War.
I’ve watched, and read, a lot since then. But these shows mean a great deal to me.
Doing this in black and white was a wonderful idea. It makes it more impactful.
Kathleen you did more than Justice for making this. While we think of men in Vietnam, us women that served during this war goes thru our own private hell. I turn 70 July 29th and I left in the Army the day after I turned 18 for basic training back then the only training for Women was Ft McClellan I wanted to go on my birthday but my Recruiter Sgt First Class Waller said he would not do that to me. Sometimes I wonder how many men are still alive that I touched and took care of. I will say other than having my children being a WAC was my life's blood.
This song is "Eve of Destruction" by P. F. Sloan and recorded by Barry McGuire.
Great show and great song. Please note that this song was written and sung by Sergeant Barry McQuire after finishing a tour in Viet Nam and returning stateside.
Try again, that was SSGT BARRY SADLER,who wrote the balled of the green berets. He had nothing to do with this song.SMDH
It was Barry McGuire. Not sure if he was a vet or not.
I love China Beach.Serned in the Nam with Kiwi infantry. This song is as relevent now as all those years ago.Dana is so bloody hot. Thanks for posting.
fantastic job! Never missed an episode...wish it would come out on DVD already!
I tried to never miss an episode of this even though, in those years, I worked a lot of crazy hours.
Barry McGuire, was the original artist who sang this song; not "The Letterman, " or "The Turtles!" Great song, coupled with the video brings a new level the hell of war to the picture.
Nope. That would be P.F. Sloane.
@@travisjames3517 Artist, not songwriter.
Did you no Barry s christian musician too
I made it ,to China beach 2017
Thank you very much ! I realy liked this video !!! You' did a realy good : ) Plus i never missed China Beach when it was on. I look forward to watchig all of videos ! Again, thank you : ) midnitepeace
I forgot that actress Chole Webb was on the first two season...all she wanted (Laurette) was to be a famous singer!
Barry McGuire, not the Kingston Trio.
Gaylon Vickers
Ppp
I remember this song playing on the radio.
Why is this show not streaming anywhere? Such a great show and it should be shared. Does anyone know the reason behind not streaming??
Best T.V. series ever. Dana 🥰
We humans never learn 😥💔😡
The song is by Barry Mc Guire not the Kingston Trio! Next you will say, let It Be was by Fred Flintstone!
Your welcome. I enjoyed making this vid.
I suspect that the world will indeed "end not with a bang, but with a whimper"
Love this show
This version I believe sung by Barry McGuire.
Perfect song for this war serie. So true, "on the eve of destruction". This is what the cost is to preserve freedom. Kill so that others can be free.
Wish you would make this so I can watch it on my smartphone too. You did an awesome job with this video! Thanks!
Thank You :)
ur welcome : ) Merry Christmas!!!!
Hope your Christmas Day was great. I just getting caught up on messages and other things.
mine was great! hope yours was the same...Happy New Year!!!!!!!!
@heywoodjerbloume thanks for your service. i appreciate you and your commitment to USA
I hadn't thought about using US videos with 'Eve Of Destruction' but it is a good idea. I will see what I can do.
Too many bad memories. Killed the feed 3 bars in. Remember at the time though, it was a great song.
Right on.
@bluespirit52 hehehe... I think you have Barry McGuire mixed up with Sgt Barry Sadler... regardless, the song was written by P. F. Sloan
A DVD release is not likely to ever happen. Apparently there are so many popular 1960's songs throughout, usually two to four per episode, that to pay the royalties required would bankrupt any attempt to do it.
Well it is out now, music and all. You can buy it on Amazon. I know you posted this 4 years ago but I just wanted to let you know just in case.
Great song, Great show.
P.F. Sloane wrote and originally recorded this way before Barry McGuire. This is the second version of this song.
But I agree... great show. I'm in the middle of season 3 right now, and I'm just mainlining it. And, I first saw Dana Delaney in Desperate Housewives. Obviously a skilled actress, but I had no idea how hawt and talented she was in this show. Although I pined a bit for Chloe Webb during season 2.
This version was done by Barry McGuire, not the Kingston Trio. The original was done by P.F. Sloan, not The Turtles. Excellent video nonetheless! :^)
Original was by Barry McGuire, not the Turtles. This cover is by the Kingston Trio. Which is wierd, frankly.
+judith angelo This is Barry McGuire singing......
These lyrics are more powerful than the cannons 👈🫡.
I was there in 73
Living in Japan with N. Korea shooting missiles over us and lunatics there and in the White House makes this song very relevant today as it was during Vietnam.
This comment didn't age well

When Cherry was killed, I lost interest in the show.
This is Barry McGuire.
