Destiny learns fast. But that's actually a problem. He learned about this super fast, got a first impression of it, and that first impression never changed because he kept feeding in new information that only reinforced what he already knew and filtered out anything that contradicted it. Those people that had to be displaced expected at some point to be able to return to their homes, and the UN even granted them the Right to Return to their homes, or compensation given. None of this happened. Israel won the wars because they had western support, and because they won, they got to rewrite the history of the region. The losers of the war don't get a story.

I think this is where Destiny's logic actually breaks down, by comparing Hamas to a conventional army. Hamas is more like the vietkong, taliban, and other insurgent groups embedded in the population. While Germany remained relatively conventional the majority of the war, by the end they were almost entirely infantry, fighting on the streets of Berlin if they weren't surrendering to the allies, *and* there were talks of trying to continue via guerilla warfare only stopped because of how much destruction Germany had already been subject to. The IJA 100% turned into a force that engaged in guerilla warfare by the end as seen in Peleilu and the general island-hopping campaigns. It was to the point the civilian population was being trained to carry out exactly this should the allies invade. Korea was more conventional than the last days of World War Two. The solution always remained the same. So, no, Destiny's point doesn't break down here whatsoever.

He has stated that to move forward in and for peace to happen that Israel needs to stop engaging in enequal military responses. The way we ended tensions after the Civil war is a pretty good lesson in both what needs to be done (regardless of if it's two, or single state solution), and how hard of a thing that is to do, in perpetuity. Those tensions, in fact, still bubble up in modern America. But the idea is that the bigger nation has to drop this punitive attitude, and the smaller state/nation/group or whatever, has to learn to let it go. Otherwise it's just a cycle of violence that well forever spiral. The hard truth, however, if you purely want to debate practical realities, is that it's not going to end, and that there's no foreseeable solution that's going to bear ANY lasting fruit. Precisely because there is no element, on either side, with any real political clout that's willing to let any of it go. Both the cultural entities of the Israeli, and Palestinian people have practically defined their mutual cultural existence as diametrically opposed, as both victims, and as seekers of justice. And that's the moderate people from both sides. The radicals both want actual genocide.

ultimately, Destiny's argument can be extrapolated to that you can wipe out an entire group of people in the aims of accomplishing your stated objective of eliminating a radical sect of said group. the methods to achieve that objective are all acceptable, granted they simply state they intend no harm to civilians. the results doesnt matter, they don't actually speak for themselves, but only their stated intent does. it doesn't matter that conflicts with each other so much that any normal reasonable person questions their claims of it being a reasonable response with genuine intentions (and they aren't just lying). Destiny's argument on this issue is that since Israel isn't doing all they can to eliminate Palestinians in their entirety, they aren't committing genocide. completely disregarding that they are, in fact, acting in complete disregard to innocent Palestinian lives at the very least. the Nazi/Holocaust standard has broken people's standards of what should be considered ethnic cleansing. it makes it so that if you aren't trying to wipe out another group in its entirety with every single effort, it can't be considered genocide/ethnic cleansing. or that we need to wait til the end of the situation to determine something was ethnic cleansing rather than making an assessment as it occurs in real time. it defeats the whole point of "never again" and the genocide conventions, it's ridiculous.

Those people that had to be displaced expected at some point to be able to return to their homes, and the UN even granted them the Right to Return to their homes, or compensation given. None of this happened. Israel won the wars because they had western support, and because they won, they got to rewrite the history of the region. The losers of the war don't get a story.

While Germany remained relatively conventional the majority of the war, by the end they were almost entirely infantry, fighting on the streets of Berlin if they weren't surrendering to the allies, *and* there were talks of trying to continue via guerilla warfare only stopped because of how much destruction Germany had already been subject to.
The IJA 100% turned into a force that engaged in guerilla warfare by the end as seen in Peleilu and the general island-hopping campaigns. It was to the point the civilian population was being trained to carry out exactly this should the allies invade.

The way we ended tensions after the Civil war is a pretty good lesson in both what needs to be done (regardless of if it's two, or single state solution), and how hard of a thing that is to do, in perpetuity. Those tensions, in fact, still bubble up in modern America.
But the idea is that the bigger nation has to drop this punitive attitude, and the smaller state/nation/group or whatever, has to learn to let it go. Otherwise it's just a cycle of violence that well forever spiral.
The hard truth, however, if you purely want to debate practical realities, is that it's not going to end, and that there's no foreseeable solution that's going to bear ANY lasting fruit. Precisely because there is no element, on either side, with any real political clout that's willing to let any of it go. Both the cultural entities of the Israeli, and Palestinian people have practically defined their mutual cultural existence as diametrically opposed, as both victims, and as seekers of justice. And that's the moderate people from both sides. The radicals both want actual genocide.

ultimately, Destiny's argument can be extrapolated to that you can wipe out an entire group of people in the aims of accomplishing your stated objective of eliminating a radical sect of said group. the methods to achieve that objective are all acceptable, granted they simply state they intend no harm to civilians. the results doesnt matter, they don't actually speak for themselves, but only their stated intent does. it doesn't matter that conflicts with each other so much that any normal reasonable person questions their claims of it being a reasonable response with genuine intentions (and they aren't just lying).

This debate said literally nothing about the complete lack of care and possibly pretextual leaving the border unattended and not paying attention to the multiple signs of a pending attack.
They also said pretty much nothing about the fact that regardless of what the stated military objective is there are multiple elected officials outright stating that they intend to ethnically cleanse the area and that their focus is on damage not accuracy.
Lastly the debate pretty much missed a discussion about the fact that Hamas is at the operational capacity it is largely due to funding by Netanyahu himself. Who has bragged about torpedoing any chance of a Palestinian State multiple times in public.
So even IF Israel didnt defend its border on purpose, how on earth does that diminish what hamas did ? THEY DID THE FIRST STRIKE. Its so funny people are so easy to forget why israel is even in war with them.

What's really ironic is how the IDF hasbara has blinded the general public to the fact that this has been what the majority of the Israeli political class has wanted.
They literally funded Hamas in order to make it intractable, and killed it's opposition leaders snuffing out any viable dissent in the strip or political solidarity with the West Bank. Then waited for the perfect moment to initiate their long awaited ethnic cleansing campaign.
We know they silenced the female intel soldiers who warned about the attack. Then sat on the extremely detailed Hamas plan when Egypt and other entities literally dropped it in their lap.
They have said this is what they wanted to do since before 2005 in broad daylight, even in the Israeli press. Hell these leaders are still saying it to this day. You have a convicted terrorist (ben-Gvir) and a self-avowed xenophobic fascist (Smotrich) on the War Cabinet with Bibi. Plus Bibi has sworn to diminish political aspirations of the Gaza population and never allow a 2 state solution for over 20 years.

Any student of world history knows this divide and conquer > dehumanization > ethnic cleansing > cultural erasure process. It's not new. The US navy should 100% defend ships that fly a US flag. If the company wanted to save $$ by flagging their ship to the Bahamas or whatever, then they should be defended by the Bahamian Navy. Basing it on the destination or the cargo or ownership is just a BS excuse to spend defense money.
