I would be curious about 2 things. 1. Can it stop birds nest issues? 2. Does it help an inexperienced fisher learn how to use the baitcaster reel? If the price comes down someday, I might get one. I can't afford 350 for anything right now. But if it gets down eventually to under 200, I might have to go for it.
Shimano DC reels are dynamic, they apply different amounts of braking to adjust to the spool speed, if they applied the same amount of braking from beginning to end it would backlash or cast short
About 2 years ago, Paul, I told you this was coming. Not this reel, but the push to the top shelf. Told you they were using OEM to build the bank to buy an exclusive production agreement. Thats what you're seeing. They're finally doing what they intended. Innovation. Look at the new Zephyr Baitcaster. The braking system is extremely innovative, its called halo 12. Look at the amb system. That new Assegai looks fantastic. Told ya. Theyre getting it right. Faster than anyone in history.
The problem I see with this type of gear is that it's trying to lock buyers into an ecosystem. It would only make sense if ALL of your reels are KastKing's IReel. Granted - this is just the first one on the market, but unless KastKing is willing to license it to other vendors - I doubt they will get very far with it. Sure, they'll get some sales to curious adopters and youtube influencers, but I doubt this will be a huge new revenue driver for them. What it will do for them, however, is generate a TON of brand awareness in the market. Most people know KastKing only from cheap reels and other fishing gear on Amazon, at best. I think the intent is for the buzz around this new tech to help bring a lot more positive awareness to the brand and help position them as more of an upscale vendor in the industry, driving increased sales of their other, more expensive (and higher margin) gear.
Dude I would own one no BS lol anything to help my Old broken Ass from Backlash I’m on board. The Digital Reel has been around for a really long time, Kast King has just Pimped the Hell out of it… It’s WAY WAY outta my Price Wheelhouse though. You Knuckleheads stay safe
Technology is something very unique. You have this piece of tech that solves or simplifies something. You do gain something from it. You also always lose something from it. Take for example tesla cars. There are no button's on the dash its all touch screen. Some would say that's a step forward while the large majority say it's a step backwards.
While i have do own $300 reels. I still use my $50 reels quite a lot. 10-20 years ago the technology behind fishing gear was locked with super high end stuff. The lower end stuff was always garbage. Fast forward today you got $50 reels performing as good as my $300 reels. Kastking and piscifun essentially chinese companies are doing decent in today's market. Innovation is something this market desperately needs.
I don’t think the tech is hurting anything. This reel is certainly not on my shopping list though. I like the idea of connecting it to weather data but there were already apps doing that. Some of the other info is just like the bloatware that comes on some electronic devices-cute for a minute but completely unnecessary after that.
Nice video! Thanks for sharing! I don't think technology will ruin fishing as long as it's used in the right way. Just my two cents. Keep up the good work! As always, #AggressivelyAverageAnglers rocks!!!
@@aaanglers, I use course fish heavily always chasing specimen trophy size fish, big Carp, Buffalo, Alligator Gar, etc. I don’t really care so much about the cast speed as mine is more about accuracy of hitting a precise baiting area, rather than how fast I cast. Interesting tech here.
Its just a generic chinese DC baitcaster with a bunch of needless gimmicky blutooth crap tacked on. (for those that don't know Kastking is a rebrand company, the reel it self was most likely produced by Tsurinoya/Sougayilang)
Not at that tier. They now have exclusive production agreements. They used Sougayilang and Tsurinoya as a foot in the door. The Amazon stuff is definitely rebrand. This? No, they finally got to play with the big boys, they won't take risks. Less than a decade to enter the top shelf market. That's insane.
@@thequixoticangler3364 Top shelf? What does kastking make that's "top shelf"? That's literally the opposite of what market kastking is targeting. But don't get me wrong though that market has its place.
@@nikushim6665 let's see... Multiple 250-300+ dollar reels. A series of rods that specs say should be $200. An entire equipment ecosystem. They now absolutely target the top tier. They did extremely well at ICast. Top tier.
It’s not the money, 90% of all my reels cost that much or more consisting of Shimano conquest, Aldebaran and Antares reels. I would never pay that for a Kast King reel and I personally have no need for that technology just like over 95% of everyone else, and for the people that do buy one after the newness of it wears off and they show it off to all their friends they will realize it’s useless.
It's all a waste. Especially now because there are so many people who literally depend on shit like this and if you took the tech from them, most wouldn't even know how to find a fucking fish.
Just 3 weeks ago I was out and as this guy was coming back in to dock in a nice ass boat. I asked if he caught anything, he said and I quote "no I couldn't get my *fish finder* to work, so I decided to just come back in." I literally said you know you don't need that to catch fish as a joke. And he gave me a look of like how dare you say something like that. And that's when I realized this dude don't even know what the fuck he is doing. Had some money had a midlife crisis and bought a expensive ass decked out boat. And the man knows nothing about any of it.

Out of my price range but as prices normalize I would definitely try one

for newbies and mid-experienced fishermen, yes. It makes about as much sense for seasoned fishermen as Tournament fishing and ICAST. Doc 1/5
I'd love a reel with that line guide and the ifc breaks but without the app stuff. Basically a DC reel with Daiwa's TWS, that sounds really tasty.
Not quite in my price range but never say never especially when the prescription sunglasses option is available 😎
I’ll be honest, that’s actually pretty sick!

Will it work with light stuff

That's cool and all, but I didn't see any fish getting caught. I'll stick with my Bass Pro PRO Qualifiers. Awesome reel for the money.
Does it need to be charged like a cell phone
For the data readouts, yes
