wow much closer than I expected even between the Astro and the SLO 100... in the context of a mix it's even less of a difference. For me hands down the Astro wins for overall package. Great sound, features & versatility , size, and price.
The SLO was my dream amp, but I have decided to get the Astro now. It sounds nearly identical to me, and has more features. It’s plenty loud enough for my purposes, I don’t need the extra watts. So the Astro wins for my needs.
The 30 seemed to have much more in-your-face mids, which is more the typical SLO sound I think of. That said, I love the crispness and presence of the Astro.
Wow, fantastic demo! The amps are dialed in nicely, the chops are great, and the switching between the amps frequently enough really works out nicely. I’ve been thinking about a 30, but now the Astro is a strong consideration. I’ve always like 6v6 tubes in Marshall style circuits, and seems to nail it here!
Great video, thank you. Very close in terms of the base tone and feel of the amps. You definitely feel that the SLO100 has the best/most complete tone. There is something in the bass/lower mids that really rounds out the sound. The SLO30 and Astro 20 have a really similar mid range with the Astro seeming a bit looser in the upper mids. I own an HR25 which definitely sits with the SLO30. I'm really intrigued by the Astro. I think it would be a great amp to have alongside either the 100watt or 30watt SLO.
I had the 100, have the 30 and A step now. Soldano SLO amps really push the air, really project...too hard for smaller spaces. Outdoor or big spaces you can get away with the 100. The versatility in the A step is great, and it fills the space just right in clubs, sits clearly in the mix bit doesn't overwhelm the rest of the band...which an SLO 100 can really do. I'm loving gigging with the Astro, and I have a great stack of great tube heads. The fact that the 20 is named after the Jetson dog can't be discounted either!
Nowadays, not gigging anymore, the Astro due to its wide range of good sounds. Truth is that the 100s „breathes“ a bit more. I hope they will release a 50 Watt Class A/B of this amp to close this small gap.
@duese888 yea, a 50 watt ASTRO would be awesome! I'm sure many also would like the ASTRO 100 too b.c the higher wattage breathes more like you said. Thanks for the quick reply.
@@UncleYoshi100 watts of valve amp will do you no good in a home setting like this. You'll just have to attenuate the shit out of it anyways. Even 50 watts is overkill
@@HVACRTECH-83 I have a basement with a Mesa 4x12 & a drum set downstairs, so 100 watts would work fine but even this 20 watt astro will probably keep up with the drums
well i've been debating buying a slo30 for a while. i'd like to hear one compared to the helix model... that way i'm not wasting my time, helix is pretty on point though... might have to plug in the same settings and see... been going back to tubes lately... was looking at the mini though i guess. oh well, got to hear some very nice playing.
Great video😀slo 100 sounds the best to my ears…Astro next… but I’d take any one of them😀…got the Astro on order from a local music store… great playing too🎸😎
Greetings! I'm after the classic singing SLO lead (Clapton, Knopfler) and will be using the amp at home 90% of the time. Can the 30 get the exact same tone as the 100? Or should I just go for the 100? Your advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks
@@ricksjamplaceYT With the loop "on" you have a master volume, so yes. With the loop "off" both channel volumes do the same job. A bit cranked it sounds "better" (that's why I am using an isolation cab at home). It is still a useable bedroom amp for sure like most modern amps.
Olaf! Great playing and tone! I’ve been using a SLO30 a lot lately and I dig it. I recently bought a Mezzabarba Trinity and am still learning it, but it’s a tone monster. Have you played one?
Saludos desde México! Me dio la impresion de que Astro suena muy similar a slo 100 mientras el slo 30 suena ligeramente más brillante que los otros dos. Me encantaron las referencias al buen Gary Moore, saludos!
Thanks. I see it the same, the 30 has a bit more of aggression compared to the other two. Sorry for replying in English, my Spanish sucks :-) Many greetings from ice cold Germany.
100 is way better. The other 2 have a shrillness. Maybe to much presence for my taste. I made a record a few years back with a guy who had and slo30. Just couldn’t get into it.

Plus you can record direct without having to use a cabinet and a load box.

Thanks for posting a demo of all 3 Soldano SLO amps! Go to ask, which is your favorite?

Great video. Thank you very much! 🙏🏻
Damn close...
I think the Astro 20 is better than the SLO 30 imo. More features and is a little cheaper.
the 30 has a much richer and open sound, the Astro is very compressed and harsh

Hi, if you would get the 30s you would always ask yourself if it really is close enough …. Get the 100s.
Thanks. Only concern I have is the loudness of the 100. Is it manageable enough? @@duese888

Hi Chris, your amp is on my to be checked out soon list. They are a bit difficult to find here however.

great player! great tones! great channel🤙🏼
SLO 30 👑
SLO 100 without a doubt for me! 👍 It just had a fuller 3d tone to it.
Hello, what is the model of the switcher you are using ? Thank you.
The 100 for me here.
Are your Gold headphones AKG's ? Do you have the model?
SLO 30 for me. I don’t need the resonance of the 100.
Somebody likes pinch harmonics
Astro sounds slightly more fizzy than the others.
