Murray Walker can make watching paint dry feel like a roller coaster. Incredible commentary.
OOOH LOOK AT THAT!! OH MY GOD!!!!
Have you seen the video of him commentating over snooker? 😂
@@ViniciusFiocco THIS IS FANTASTIC
Dude I dont know why I read this comment like a Murray Walker commentary
Paint drying, is the dogs bollocks.
1999 F1 cars are some of the most beautiful F1 cars ever, imo
It's when aerodynamics started being taken really seriously, all the while maintaining that classic look
Absolutely agreed, late 1990s-2005-ish F1 was the pinnacle of looks in the motorsport. These cars were pure sex on wheels.
The Ferrari F399 especially looks absolutely stunning!
And imagine these beauties with slick tyres... Ohh...
1999-2008 were the best and 2012-13 also looked alright.
The Stewarts were beautyfull
Those late 90's McLarens were such good looking cars.
the best livery ever
And sound beautifully.
I think the best livery was the Senna era. Beautiful.
come on thats a dull looking car if ive ever seen one.
@@motogplounge6305 I think the same 😂 but dude we gotta respect the other people's opinion 😊
F1 drivers: Let’s race
Australian heat: Nope
I used to hate Hakkinen those years just because i saw him as a rival of Ferrari. Growing up i found out what a great driver and a great man he was. One of the most talented and respectful drivers ever been in Formula 1
First time I got to see qualifying times, I thought the 1999 season was done deal, sealed championship for the McLaren given their large gap to the rest of the field.
So I know how that felt like.
Same, was a big Michael Schumacher fan back then and it says a lot about 1998-2000 that whenever Hakkinen retired, I always breathed a sigh of relief. Such a great driver who gave it his all and often had something up his sleeve.
Mika and The Michael - F1's finest hour
Me to but I grew to respect him when he left compared to Michaels other rivals I used to enjoy the qualifying battles they used to have.
Mika was always a gentleman. Big Michael fan here.
5:00 Eddie Irvine, the first man to wheelie a formula 1 car.
4:58
he drifted not wheelie
@@samsaliba1532 No, he didnt drift either. He skidded. The difference between skidded and drifting are that when you are drifting, you are skidding while also turning the wheel.
Hhahhahaha exactly
Alonso would disagree
Incredible performance by Pedro de la Rosa, finishing 6th in an Arrows on his debut
And his pace was good too, apparently within a few tenths of the leaders.
“Up goes the visor, out comes the fists...”
Commentary Gold
4:45 that Nigel Stepney would be the one at the centre of spygate in 2007, how times change
Death Ironic. Crash car
4:14 "That right rear puncture can't damage the frontwing in anyway"
Codemasters: Allow us to introduce ourselves
I miss those days. Beautiful cars, heavenly sound, speed, no saving fuel or tyres, uncertainty...
Was a sport back then...not the show it is today
speed? you realise that the cars today are faster thsn ever
@@CR-iu2zt I would take cars that are 5 secs slower for better racing... the ''faster'' cars dont mean anything..just smaller lap times
They were saving fuel and tyres, why people think they did not do that is beyond me...ffs in the 80 there were races people didnt finnish because they ran out of fuel, bad fuel management...also the tyres, who was better in perserving was stronger in the end of the race...do you think they were on the limit the whole time? Just because comentators did not mention it it does not mean it didnt happen
But , same as usual
Boring race
But (again), we still watch it
wow.... I forgot how few cars used to finish a race!!!
That's the V10 era for you.
@@GeneralCodeBlue were they unreliable or what? why did so few cars finish?
@@powerdrake2906 V10's were very unreliable
V10 unreliable
The engines had max power and were driven on the limit all the time
Was definitely a classic. Now show Canada 2011
I think, if we would get to see canda 2011 it is going to be the week before the austrian gp
@@camf111 or the week of the actual Canada gp
I think we should see Belgium 2009
Canda 2011 was not even that good 99 nuerburgring 99 magny cours 2005 japan 2001 malaysia all better races
Hakkinen's last world title after beating Dale Jarrett and Eddie Irvine
Heinz Harald Frentzen was outstanding in this race. Hes one of the most underrated drivers out there
Rest in peace Murray walker 1923-2021
This engine sound, this damned v10 engine sound 😍
It really is music
I actually got used to the V6 turbo era, but man, watching this video and streaming the engine sound on my home sound system gives me chills.
The commentators listing all of Schumachers overtakes without showing them hurt
So lovely to hear these two commentating. Miss you Murray. Great race.
Murray comment since the ¹st f1 brother
When you are on a team with Schumi, u will always be No.2, no matter if you win a few races.
Get well soon Michael, we all miss ya!
Late 90's to Mid 2000's are best looking f1 cars for me
4:43 "Nigel Stepney, the chief mechanic..."
Ah yes, the guy who was caught out in Spygate.
To me 99 cars were the most beautiful in history......BAR,Arrows,Jordan,Ferrari,Mclaren,Williams,Prost.
Back when martin couldn't shut up enough to let murray speak on exciting moments, bless him
Wasnt his face walker wouldn't shut up
It’s incredible how much eventful a race was back then compared to nowadays.
Trust me, the mid to late 90s had some of the most boring races of all time. This race is by far the greatest ever imo, but you'd fall asleep during most others
Still waiting for the full replay of:
_1989 French GP
_1990 French GP
_1993 Donington
_2004 Belgian GP
And the full replay of the 2009 Belgian GP
My first ever F1 race. Bring back memories.
Mine too! I was 7 and we sat on turn 1. Couldn’t believe how loud they were.
God, I adore those car sounds. Fantastic era.
Was such a great time in F1!
No
I remember watching this live, so happy for Eddie back then... who knew that the championship would unfold like it did that year, unbelievable.
Combine it with Murray Walker's commentary and you have an extremely exciting season :)
I said it again: this is brilliant stuff! I love the noice, the sound, the enthusiasm of the moderators. Brilliant! unfortunately I'm too young, but it‘s nice to see the old races with Michael.
Demn these races are so much more action-packed
My first time watching f1 until now
Man, both commentators are just interrupting each other all the time...
I don’t think Martin had learnt to stay quiet for the start and end like is custom for secondary commentators. Now he is the model in which other commentators look to replicate
Yeah, but who would interrupt Murray? Brundle himself has said that Murray stood in the commentary box for the entire race shaking with excitement!
no crap
Martin is a far better commentator than Murray. The more I watch these classic races, the more I wonder why Murray was so popular, he kept confusing driver with driver, mocking drivers, misspoking, and offen sounds like he dosen't know what he is talking about. Maybe he had just been there for too long and people felt attach to him.
@@oscarshen6855 Although to his credit in this one, he was right straight away that it was Trulli colliding with Gené while Martin kept insisting it was Panis.
What a race!
1:06 great opportunist move by villenueve
I loved those yellow Jordan’s so much
My, I miss races like this.
5:00 "oh yeah he's giving it a wheelie" LOL Murray xD
WHAT. A. RACE.
I really like the look of that Williams livery. It's not there best livery they've had, but I thought the red and white, with the yellow and blue flashes looked excellent. Seems like an unpopular opinion.
They were dropping like flies!
fantastic race 😊👍
This race is more exciting than F1 has had in the last 3 years.
I hate how no one is saying anything about the amazing performance Heinz Harald-Frentzen did in 1999, he could have perfectly won that year if the odds were on his side
Yes frentzen was an underrated driver and deserved more glory but never had the car or team
Missing those times.. Pure race.. 😊
What a crazy race
Frentzen and Ralf Schumacher both got podiums in their first race for their new teams
They literally swapped team in 99
@@szm-qf4lp both their team mates couldn't compare
@@hermanthetosser4219 definitely, although Hill was a bit better than Zanardi
A race to remember!
The way he said Achilles heal 💀
What about it?
@@JohnyG29 sounded like he was from Greece
I was at this race when I was back packing around Australia 🇦🇺
those engine sounds, god damm it they sound great
That is proper chaos.
The Ferrari F399 might just be one of the best looking F1 cars ever! After 1999 F1 cars have never been able to match the pre-2000 cars. Aerodynamics of the cars were much simpler and looked a lot better in the previous century.
0:23 So the guy who cut the chicken in Bahrain was racing in real life?
🤔🤔🤔
Yeah, won a few races with benetton too
@@scoot5150 and a race with Stewart

Good race
I remember this like yesterday... it was Speedvision with Derek Daly here in the USA back then. Now only if the engines sounded like this today.
Remember the exhaust hitting the floor on the McLaren's??? What a freaking scream!!!!
That B.A.R livery was pretty cool to see.
Grande Pedro de la Rosa
Enhorabuena por tu primer punto
I've watched four highlights in a row from years 95 to 99 and all of them have and Shumi having a problem 😂😂.
Palmer->analyse->next classic race!?
1:59 thus began the theory of drs
I love the old McLaren "Darth Vader" helmets....it was even better at Moncao that one year when they had a sponsor deal to promote a Star Wars movie and actually did wear Darth Vader and Storm Trooper helmets.
Weren't Red Bull the ones who promoted that movie in Monaco 2005?
Wow a race at Albert Park thats actually EXCITING
Edit: thanks for the replies and likes!
Yeah Albert Park used to be better primarily because it was first race of the season and the cars were far more unreliable and also following other cars was a lot easier so the racing was naturally closer. Overtaking was always difficult but not as hard as it is now and not artificial as it is now. 2002 was also quite something ignoring the winner.
2010 2013 and 2014 were good ones i mean
@@Peachrocks5 2003 and 2013 Melbourne race were exciting
@@drybones7475 2006 was an awesome race, very underrated

I hope it's gonna be Baku 2017 this weekend
Matej Zizza id rather take a nap
Belgium 2009
RoadhogTime13 and Ricciardo won
@Matej Zizza dude, kimi for president
I remember staying up all night to watch this one. I was about to take my GCSEs. Great memories.
Properly brutal race, and a real highlight. From memory only 7 cars finished (??).
Seemed like every component of every car got flogged to absolute max with all manner of failures.
Everything in those cars were meant to perform to the max in shorter intervals.
For example, every drivers has at least 4-5 engines per race weekend (1 for practice, 1 special qualifying engine, 1 for the warmup and race), might be more.
Now it's around 3-4 components of the power unit for the whole season
It's unreasonable
everything is OVERHEATING 😂😂
Back when engine failures were common.
Mom, why don't we have this kind of races nowadays
Os carros eram todos muito lindos :)
I gotta say as much as a love Murray he did interrupt and talk over martin quite a lot
2:26 HAKKINEN'S GOT A PROBLEM LOOK SO WOW MAZING
Who is this Edmund Irvine?
Just the highest paid Ford Motor Company employee when he drove for Jaguar apparently.
There two other races from 1999 you guys could replay, France and Austria. France was a race which saw Barrichello, Hakkinen, Frentzen, and Michael Schumacher go toe-to-toe in the pouring rain, while Austria was a race which saw Hakkinen go from last to third, with a series of big-balls overtakes. It also saw Eddie Irvine jump from third to first in the pit stop phase, and was without a doubt the best of his four wins.
It’s not great to have two main commentators both trying to talk lol
They touch but don’t break...much better than today
2:15 Verstappen at Abu Dhabi 2021
Irvine tuvo todo a su favor esa tarde!
Que loucura essa corrida heimm
Eddie Irvine was my favorite !
What. A. Commentary. Team.

Came back here to point out Schumi stalled in two straight races, Japan 98, Australia 99, and knowing what would happen later in the season, well....
Korea 2010 is quite underrated
Japan 2007, Belgium 2009, Canada 2011, Germany 2013, Spain 2016 and Austria 2018 are quite underrated
very good

this was the race which ensured the Arrows victory over Minardi. They both had 1 pt, but Arrows took the tie braker due to that 7th place of Takagi. Great season great battles with those Arrows and lots of nostalgia.
Minardi could have beat Arrows for 9th had BaDoer not blown up at the Nurburgring from 4th place and Géne scored 6th as well.
@@zanemarte9877 True, but if Badoers gearbox hadnt failed in Nurburgring, Gene would be 7th.
