Its sad state of affairs of Mumbai film city as new technologies and black money have reduced the importance of sets and film city. Earlier days, producers used to focus on the content of story for making a film, but nowadays all the money is put to film live locations around the world. So much loss of employment. And neither has Maharashtra Govt. or Bollywood preserved the film city which was the centre of Indian films once a time. Hats off to Ramoji Rao who has beautifully preserved his film city in Hyderabad and is the most favourite place for all the film industries in India.
Government will be happy to shut down and sell land to Builders
The demand of film city has drastically reduced for movie making. Ramoji Film City is more of a tourist place now. Coz movie making is now happening mostly in real locations. Mostly serials are being made inside the set of film city. Ramoji is already established POP building and can be seen repeatedly in many movies. But here sets are imaginary and can be made unique. And what we see mostly movies are being shot in real locations and using VfX now a days
@@ExplorerSanjeeb Absolutely agreed, Going forward film city itself will become obsolete with Artificial Intelligence taking over everything and then everything a film maker would need is a laptop and a studio. In such a circumstances, even Ramoji Rao city will find it difficult to survive but still might survive as entire South will patronage it unlike Mumbai or the upcoming Modi Film city of Noida

And still your point will be contradicted, because if at all any film city will remain in INdia, it will be Ramoji Rao and nothing else. NOIDA film city might probably not even be born, forget competing with Mumbai film city or Ramoji Rao film city.

I am from Mumbai and it is sad to say that the film city looks very dirty. The surroundings and sets are dirty and not kept clean. This is a world renowned industry and the film industry spends crores of rupees making movies and its a shame that film city is not well maintained. Here we talk about keeping Bharat clean but our film industry is not clean and improving their standards.
