I can't co-sign this bs. Meek was locked up for REPEATEDLY violating the terms of his probation. In other words, he continued to violate the law. Black people thought his violations were petty (which they may have been), so they waged a "free Meek" campaign and eventually he was released.
What message does that send to young black people?
The message I read from it is to "do as thou wilt" (do what you want to do). It encourages young black people to ignore the law and do what they want, then deflect from the fact they actually broke the law when they get caught.
This is the behavior many young black people ALREADY have, which is why so many find themselves in confrontational situations with law enforcement to begin with.
Just because there is corruption in law enforcement, doesn't mean black people should get a free pass to act like savages and beasts (which far too many young black people refer to THEMSELVES as).
If you're gonna act like a savage beast and call yourself a savage beast, how can you complain if you're then treated like a savage beast?
