That’s definitely a problem i can for see being an issue. Especially with body armor. I’m trying to get my hands on some different split rigs to test so i can un do it and get closer to the ground
Nice overview; it helped me to consider how I have my TAP set up. I have a split front, but it doesn’t really help. You have to empty a hand - sometimes both, to work the side release buckle or zipper (depending on the closure). In the heat of the moment, managing body position, communicating, and clearing rifle/sling out of the way to separate the halves… my use has only been on a one-way range, but even then it’s a lot. The better solution - for me, has been a single layer of mags/gear and attaching everything else to your sides or stashing in an assault pack.
The singles makes since, I’m liquidating the gear I’ve accumulated recently and gonna be getting new stuff to try so I’ll keep this in mind with new set ups.
When ones stick another layer (of pockets, mags, etc) in front of the body armor, that creates even more difficulties to (low) crawl. A clear body armor front could help crawling and/or any other chest rubbing against surfaces, actually ... I believe there should be a better way to position mags, a bit sideways, not frontal. I've never seen. As though everyone is doing urban combat, not open field, terrain movement. These are my thoughts ...
Yeah i like your take on this, urban combat hasn’t been my main focus since my over sea’s experience was more rural so we spent a lot more time in the prone and hiding in the woods. This is why i primarily run chest rigs. Not to say i don’t have a “direct action” kit but I’ve used chest rigs while stowing armour in my ruck till needed more often.
They are what you make of it, I use an Onward research rig and it barely look like it used to. Placard on the back, extended molle expanders, more pouches.
My ifak is a fanny, guy on etsy custom made it. Fits more than needed. I use a really customized onward rig. Youd barely recognize it.
I’ll have to look into this. Thanks
@@JUMPFIGHTDIE I like fannies because you can shift and move them,
Where is your IFAK? Also, what protects the NVGs from getting crushed when you go prone/bound?
IFAK is mounted on rear of belt, the nvgs are off to the left enough to not have any pressure on it while in the prone.
@@JUMPFIGHTDIEdoes the ifak on your belt not get in the way of your ruck?
@@Zombie851r not when it’s on the belt line. The one he uses drops down below center as well so it’s gets out of the way of hip belt
The problem with all these types of chest rigs is that, in real combat, it is very difficult to tactically (low) crawl, belly to the ground

This rig is from another tl in my squad he’s the one in the video. So i can’t speaking on it directly. he likes it and hasn’t had issues with it.
Are you actually in the Military or do you just have all this shit and run around in the woods?
I just wear a uniform to work for fun.
@@JUMPFIGHTDIE What a BOOT
@DADDYFUQMYAZZ even if it was in the woods, take it from a part timer. Keep at it brother
@JUMPFIGHTDIE Does it actually f**king matter ?
