See, for me that's exactly why the Fodera is so damn expensive, you can make that thing sound anyway you want. It's 6 basses in one. So, you bring just one bass to your gig or session, whatever sound is called for, you can dial it from just this baby. Not to mention the craftsmanship, this thing looks like a million bucks
I would say that you have mixed it like a true producer, not like a youtuber :-). Fodera sounds like having more overall volume. I typically like your KS (old one) better in your videos than Fodera which to me sounds like way too many other good modern bases. In this case, I cant hear KS. BTW To be honest, for this tune I would choose a single coils bass over HB. Somehow I can imagine 70's fender type of sound better than modern in this very case. I also find interesting that I love Fodera played by itself. Always. But never in the mix where it is just NOT there "enough". It's a complete opposite from Pbass, which is a bummer to play by itself, but in the mix it always somehow works (not tha much for slap but even then). Sorry for a lengthy one :D. THanks for your entertaining work.
Played very well man! I know I am now being lynched and excommunicated by the Fodera community. I've never liked the sound of the Fodera. I tried different Foderas but was always pretty disappointed with the sound....
I’m not a fan of the jazz bass tone but oddly enough it fits better in the beginning, but You can hear Louis Johnson on his music man on The solo. Dual coils in series. Crazy
may I ask how you are recording your audio? direct line out? if so, what device? and can you also talk about any compression, or other recording tips. LOVE the tone
Hi Holland, thanks for viewing. I’m recording audio using the direct line out from my amp head into an audio interface for this video. However, nowadays I use a DI box which is even better. As far as compression none is required - most of my basses have a natural compression plus the way I play doesn’t require it…It’s a lot to explain on here, feel free to email me at jcherrymusic@gmail.com
@@jcherrymusicworld My pleasure. You play really well, you come across really well, your attitude is awesome and there is a lot people can learn from you. Keep the flag flying.
Usually I like the sound of Ken Smith a little more than Fodera, but the Fodera cuts through better in this video.

Different characters from both as expected, beautiful playing!
Thank you!! It’s quite interesting how woods play a huge role in tone and sounds and of course other variables.
I just love the growl of a Ken Smith.
The other one sounds like so many other.
The growl is insane. It’s really unmatched.
amazing sound, Very, very nice.
Thank you 🙏🏿

Both are fine! In my option the Smith tone is more lovely to my ears! Peace brother
🙌🏿
Good work Jason!
I prefer the sound of the Fodera, on that track anyway!!!
Thanks for your feedback!
You're Welcome!
Good job man. Nice feel & groove.
I agree with Paul Morrow below. The Fodera just punches through and that spalted maple top... Nice😁😎🎸
Both basses are amazing !

Love both makes, but, to me, the Smith sound is perfect for slap.
The volume was louder on the Fodera . Smith is always superior in tone but they were not equally EQ’d
Agreed
I’m a Smith dude all the way owner of three 6s but the Fodera won this round.
Both great Basses 👌🏿
But I still prefer Status Graphite Basses from England 👌🏿♥️
Fodera wins this round ✅ 👌,, even tho I’m always like that Ken smith

@@jcherrymusicworld thank you for your quick reply! I'll email you for other recording tips :) all the best and wonderful playing, sir
How do you afford all those nice basses, what do you do for money?
All I could say is don’t chase women lol…
I havent watched it yet but I will always pick the opposite of fodera so ken Smith wins before it begins
Fodera sounds better for me, that's just my personal preference
the fodera had more prominence in the mix
Ken smith 100
Смита либо специально либо нарочно в миксе задушили, фодера ништяк в миксе сидит, Смит задавлен.
The Fodera is a great bass. It’s very versatile and agree sits in the mix just as well as the Smith. Thanks for your feedback!
The Fodera sounds better IMHO.

Can't get past the mega creeps voice to hear the bass. Try the demo over a drum track only
Vinnie Fodera worked for Ken Smith so technically you were playing a Fodera the whole time.
🤯😂🤣
Or maybe I’m playing a Smith-Fodera since Smith was first 😂
This smith sounds better with this song. I dont' think the smith bass is a good bass that covers most genres.
That’s the only downfall with the Smith - its voice is limited in regards to genres
Ken Smith sounds more organic to the song IMHO
