Aw memories right there! Was born and bred in Plumstead 1972, my dad used to take me to the market tbh it was exciting back then. The sounds of the market traders shouting gave me goosebumps and took me right back ....

I was at Woolwich polytechnic school in McBean st. just off Powis st. in the 1970s. So great memories of that area at that time.

Used to vist Woolwich all the time as a child from 1970 to the 80's. Used to visit Woolworth's-Hare St., Cuffs-Powis St., Branston's Toy shop-Thomas St, Bakers stationers-Woolwich New Rd, and many memories of what I thought was a nicer Woolwich. The buses frequented all main thouroghfares. I notice the Swedish Metro-Scania buses seen on route 180, all of these buses were taken from Peckham and New Cross and taken to the new Plumstead garage, opened 1981. Abbey Wood and the old Plumstead garages were closed and some new routes were formed. I preferred the Routemasters and RT's that were very common here once.Nice footage of the market.

Loved seeing this. Actually know some of the traders in it as I grew up in the 70s Woolwich born and bred. My Nan worked at the Arsenal all through the war and my grandad was stationed as an RAF gunner on top of Shooter’s Hill firing on the lufwaffe as the followed the Thames on raids during the Blitz

I loved going down to 'the Square' with my aunt. I t was so lively and such a variety of stalls, and there was the covered market. Mt dad worked in the Arsenal during the war and aft, so did other members of the family. Very fond memories.

I can almost smell it, the Veg stalls and the stalls selling sea food on little sorcers. Pity we could not see Kennedy's Butchers and Manchester eel and pies.

This was very interesting to watch, I was born in ‘97 and bred in plumstead, I’m 25, so, I’ll be 26 in a fortnight, visit Woolwich a lot, have you got any archive footage of plumstead? I’d be interested to see how plumstead has changed throughout the years❤️

Love the 80's and the year I was born!
What month was this do you know?
+ love how there is no very bright neon/shoulder pads or any dodgy hair cuts(as I'm typing well only saw a few out of that crowd that did ) lol
I was last in this part of London last month, do you have another video to subscribe to but in Kent just across the boarder in Welling, Bexleyheath, Dartford, Swanley....etc??

Interesting! Can't imagine how annoying it must have been to have cars drive through the now pedestrian zone ...

Even more annoying now with 10 million people always walking into you with food delivery bikes constantly nearly crashing into you.
