There's no need to copy accents we can have our own accents English is not a subject it's language we can pronounce it however we want. Britain has a different accent, America has a different accent so like India does, let's just follow our own accent don't just copy. Manchu Lakshmi has been to America so she is following that accent. And that doesn't mean we should follow an American accent

I think that logic is kinda weird because it doesn't really apply to Other languages. Like it would be weird to speak in Chinese or Hindi with an American or russian accent, right?
Honestly, why people make big deal out of accents in south Asia, because other asian or European immigrants in usa do speak in American accent even if it's not natural to them and nobody makes fun of it, but some people go as far shaming people like Priyanka Chopra for their English accent.
I just don't get the concept of "respect the indian accent" because English isn't even an Indian language to begin with, imagine if Italians said "respect Italian Hindi accent", that would be disrespectful and come off as not making an effort to learn the language.
I'm not saying everybody should speak in American or British accent and if they can't, they are disrespectful and dumb. What I'm saying is that people shouldn't be made fun of for their accents. Like don't make fun of an old Chinese lady for her Chinese English accent or an Indian uncle's indian English accent or lakshmi's 'american' accent
