Nice interview. The interviewer seemed a tiny bit nervous and Grace really carried it well - gracious, thoughtful and smart... and very articulate as always.
Her first headlining tour happened when she was 13; how amazing is that? I've seen clips where people(okay, young girls) were screaming and trying to touch her hand as she came out. And she handled it like someone who'd been on tour for years.
Grace likes artists who can put "notes in the wrong places, but it comes out right" - Grace, that is definitely what you've done, when 12, 13, 14 years old. So very refreshing that you can put eclectic musical tastes into one song. Which is probably a minefield, so much could go wrong. That's why you're a genius.
Good upbringing! well not just good..more like great.. and All that goes with: encouragement, guidance, support, following through, structure, unconditional love, faith, education, sense of others, compassion, nurturing, values..on and on.. then at some point you hope it all was enough and just watch in awe as they apply it, on their own, ..feeling pride as they run with it through life's journey ...an of course.. don't forget..all the encouraging U-Tube fans!
Music is a universal language it has no colour, no race it's just music this young lady is wise beyond her short years I have enjoyed watching her grow and look forward to the amazing things she will do in the future. Grace will be an ICON .
Wow, so nice to see Columbia moving forward with her music and interviews. This was a good interview. She was on point and I feel she asked relatable questions that Grace answered very honestly and intelligently. Thanks!
This is my hundredth time watching this to see just how intelligent this young lady is. No wonder they say she is a Genius Prodigy, I believe it. Wow! She is definitely a visionary song writer, a true master of her art...
Have you noticed how facile Grace is with words and conversation? It's no surprise that she is equally talented at writing deep and meaningful lyrics. I was surprised to hear her say that she often writes music before words, although in my opinion the music, though strong, is not nearly as naturally accomplished as the words.
I wish she would come back in The Cartoon Network Comic Con 2020 and sing So Much More Than This. I was a big fan at this! And I want Cathy Cavadini, Tara Strong, E.G Daily, and Jeff Bergman Back in the Cartoon Network Comic Con 2020. Christina Miller quits her job on cancelling My Childhood Cartoon Network Shows! 😀
I agree. Grace tells stories with her lyrics and music. Country is about telling stories. Grace doesn't realize it, but, her songs are actually very well suited for country. She says she doesn't like country, but, along the way, she was influenced by country music. Bad thing about country is that, most singers in that genre are expected to be older, and it's so noticeable how there few teen and early twenties singers in that part of the industry. I think Grace would be the exception, as she's a lot more mature than her 15/16 years of age. But, she's not going that way, and perhaps sometime in the future she might consider doing crossover music, like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
Dont know if ed sharpes song, home, counts as country but here is grace covering that song. ruclips.net/video/GsvfmC0VQ3M/видео.html I'd recommend the austin city lights version in which she really got into it, but youd have to you tube the entire concert and scroll thru.
@@efrainadorno2344 Marisa McKaye writes country songs and is 15. Taylor was hired by Nashville as a songwriter at 14. Anyway, they are the exceptions to the rule, I suppose. Also, I think country is slow to adapt and change, as neither Marisa nor Taylor have been innovators in the genre. As for Grace, its hard to play the uke and not have some country seep into your sound. If its true Grace doesn't like country then seems she would have chosen a different instrument to play.
what she says about the music that she likes, is one of the main things i like about about her music. Every song of hers is so well done. All her lyrics have awesome uniqueness. It will always be a "new kind of different" with Grace. She is of the rarest kind of artist. Can't categorize an artist that is forever changing. During my 57 yrs of life, Prince is the only other artist of this dynamic nature
I'm amazed how many interviewers look, seem like they are agitated , triggered in her presence, like they can't decipher confident positivity. She's what would like to aspire to.
1:52 - The only band named Oregon I know of is ancient, and not pop at all. It was jazz guitarist's Ralph Towner's band. I would be impressed if she listens to and likes Oregon - it is not music for lightweights. Towner is a jazz genius. But I could be all wrong and she could be referring to a completely different band.
I remember reading or hearing recently that she has been listening to Jazz quite a bit. To me, I can hear it in her singing in the new EP. She has evolved some, which is expected as she gets older. The comment you tagged appears to be edited but it sounded to me that she could be speaking of the group you know. Now, let me go check out Oregon.
She has said before that music constantly flows through her brain. When she writes lyrics it turn out completely different from what she originally thought it would be. That is a true Prodigy. A painter like Van Gogh, painted and never knew what the end result would be.

Listen to frank Zappa if you want to hear "notes in the wrong places, but it comes out right".
The movie does have a beautiful message and ahhh does anybody just love listening to Grace???
She really strives to live in reality. Integrity is very important to her.
She keeps it real.

Thank you for this.

Interview is too short. Wanna listen more she is just so amazing!
If you haven't watched Grace's interview on the "Zack Sang Show " from the spring, its 56mins and well worth the listen
Great interview! Grace has got this. "This" being the music world at her feet. (Got the DVR set for Grace on Corden this Wed.)
I’m glad for her
Luv her, such a good voice,,

So cute love you 10000 times
Good set of questions, no fluff.
Grace is such a nice girl.
It amazes that she likes artists that sound different but is a huge fan of Ariana Grande... That's so contradictory and I love those two sides of her.
Very intelligent and speaks very exceptional

I saw them once (a way long time ago). They had the audience howl like wolves at the end. I think she said "organ", tho.

James Griego yeah which ever way she does it she does it beautifully.
For musicians the mood of a piece is set with the chords, and that's what she sets out with. Everything else flows out of it.

the ukulele now is look small on grace's hand.
I wish her and Courtney Hadwin would do something together.

She reminds me of Sia, but without the shyness.
I'm sorry but "I DoNt KnOw My NaMe"

What?
There are some pics of Zendaya that look a bit like Grace. Face shape and eyes are similar, tho Zendaya has to look a certain way.
