    Mine went out this week. 2011 Cayenne S 139k miles. I need to get an alignment so I'll just have my shop do it then. I have same symptoms. No chirp and flashes when locked with noise by gas cap. Thank you for the video.

    Nice video, I see it was based on my writeup on Rennlist. The horn doesn't die because water got in. It's very well sealed against that. It dies because it has a rechargeable NiCad battery in it with a 10 year life, and when the battery goes - it starts leaking down on the circuit board resulting in the corrosion you observed. I believe my Rennlist article has photos of the battery and corrosion. That brings up the fallacy of replacing it with a used one off eBay - the eBay one also has a 10 year life battery in it - and you have no idea how many years are left on the battery. Some people tracked down a replacement battery (where the spec's indicate the 10 year life) - thinking to replace it, but two problems arise: (1) No matter how you open the case you'll NEVER ever get it sealed water-tight again, and it sits right below that drain in the cowl plastic center wiper recess (2) the battery leaks on the circuit board, damaging it - leading to having to try to repair the board.
    The answer is simple - just buy a new one. People have found identical ones for less than Porsche charges by using the VW/Bosch numbers on the siren assembly.
    And to answer one other question - no programming is needed (or possible) when it's replaced.
    With the 10 year life - I certainly expect the rest of the 2011 Cayennes to start needing new sirens, and 2012 Cayennes won't be far behind. It was somewhat telling that my dealer had this in stock, meaning they've been replacing it rather frequently.

      Hi my 2011 Porsche Cayenne S has been going off with Alarm Siren randomly i tried to give it a week but it just got worst now. It’s been 4-way flashing the whole day now I’m going to the repair shop tomorrow because I don’t want it to drain the battery but do you have an advice of it is the Alarm siren going bad or something else?

    • @Don_Eilenberger
      @Don_Eilenberger 2 года назад

      @@yrheem8969 the alarm siren HAS gone bad. They will ALL fail at around 10-12 years. The spec's on the battery inside the alarm were found and one spec was the expected life of the battery - 10 years. Mine failed right at about 10.5 years from when it was manufactured. This is not an "if" it fails sort of thing, it's a "when" it fails.

    Thanks for posting this. I went through this process today. Those wipers are a nightmare to remove 😂 but I really appreciate your video. It helped to see the light at the end of the tunnel

    Thanks great video. You made the job easy. Also I’m super glad you made the point at the end about the wiper motor not cycling with the hood open. I was stuck with that issue until I watched the very end of the video. Thanks again.

    Great video. I replaced the alarm siren on a 958 today and it solved the issue of flashing lights constantly. Thx!

    My Cayenne just started doing the hazard flashing error with no chirp. I read their is a LION battery in that module that dies and kills the board when it does. I'm going to reference this when I replace it, thanks for the video!

    Before jumping into this fix i highly recommend that you check that rear hatch top and bottom are locking properly because you can get the same lights flashing and no chirp if the rear glass is not shut correctly

    Great video. I am not sure if this is what is wrong with my 2013 (newly bought) Porsche Cayenne. Love the car but when I go to lock the doors the lights flash and the doors do indeed lock but NO CHIRP. Is this the same problem you had? I am not sure I would be comfortable going through all the steps you went through and not screw it up. LOL. However, I will give it a try if you think that is what the problem is. I need the chirp. I hate always having to turn around and watch the lights go off. I also do not know if the anti theft alarm works or not. Never tried it. How do I figure this out too? Is this the same as the Panic button on the remote? Whew that was a lot but would love to know your opinion on this. I subscribed to your channel and saved the video to my "Porsche" folder. LOL. Thank you sir!!!!

      No chirp is usually how it starts to fail - but there is a setting in the Cayenne PCM vehicle menu to turn the chirp off - you might check that before replacing it.

    Great information and video. Does anyone have confirmation that the part number is PAB951605 as mentioned by Mike Tom in an earlier post? Also I stumbled across a VW part number 5QO-951-605-A-VAG but I cannot confirm that it is interchangeable; it is in the $70 range where the Porsche part is $230 and up. Update, my new part came from a Porsche dealer, on the siren itself is printed 1KO 951 605F, The Porsche number (on the box) is PAB 951 605 as mentioned earlier.

      @jimbutler6391 - did you ever confirm if the $70 part noted works for 958 get cayenne? Connection looks similar but technically I think that model is for the later gen cars. I am looking for my 2011 turbo

    Wild the dealership is telling me the price of $305 curious where you got the part new for such a great price?

      Chuck Handy this was over a year ago, and I think I bought from an online VW/Audi parts place. One tip: When buying parts from an auto dealership, they will charge you a different price depending on if it is through the service department, over the counter retail parts sale, or to another shop. My tip is when you ask them to price a part, ask them "what is list price". Then once they give you list price, ask them "what is my discount off list". This indicates that you are not there to pay list or over list price, as they may do through the service department. Most dealers can easily give you 10 percent or better off list price and still maintain a profit. They may charge 15 percent over list through the service department.

    Hey, can you give me the part number of the new one you put in? I saw in the forums that there's a 1K0951605 with an F a C and an A at the end I'm not sure which one is the latest or if it would work on Porsche, some are for Skoda VW and Audi, also the price difference is dramatic between the parts.

    • @Don_Eilenberger
      @Don_Eilenberger 2 года назад +1

      I'm not the OP - but the changing letter at the end of a VW/Porsche PN indicates the generation of the part. As they make improvements to the part - that number or letter will increment (A=1st gen, C=3rd, etc..) They're generally interchangeable. Usually. Especially if the old PN is NLA.

      hi so you didn’t need to reprogram it?
      I’m thinking about getting it fixed tomorrow by my mechanic but my mechanic told me I might have to get reprogrammed to my keys
      Does your key alarm work perfectly fine?
      And if so than all I have to do is replace the part and it will work back to normal?

    • @Don_Eilenberger

      @@yrheem8969 yes. I have no idea how to be clearer. So - I'll be louder: THERE IS NO PROGRAMMING INVOLVED OR NEEDED! Just replace the damn thing and be done with it.

    I believe the latest part # for this module is: PAB951605 - Check with your dealer with your VIN Number before ordering. As of this date, it is about $230
