If that is bullrushes, then definitely, but some diversity is good there and all will greatly improve water quality. He kinda made it difficult for himself not planning for a strong vegetative ecosystem, but focussing on the animal mostly.

You should do a video of you building underwater habitats for the gar! I bet building a big one around the area that you feed them in would help in feeding too.
I know tons of other people have already said this, but if would be great if you gave the ecosystems more shade & cover with more plants, logs/wood, stuff like that! I'm sure all your critters would appreciate it :)
The water is a beautiful color like chrysoprase. Have you swam in it yet? It looks so inviting. I’d live to float around in an inner tube on those ponds. It would be so fun as long as the turtles didn’t nibble my toes. 🥰

Tip: get a small inflatable raft and flout out in the middle area and film you feeding them. It would be cool.
