    Your videos are SO thorough and helpful. I'm a writer in another genre looking to make the jump into cozies and these have been absolutely invaluable. Thank you so much!

    Being an underwriter, I was wondering why I would want to produce a shorter piece... lots of great ideas here. I really enjoy your content and hope you get the boost the channel deserves.

    I always wondered when Columbo figures out who did it

    • @janekalmes
      @janekalmes  2 года назад +2

      I'm thinking maybe he knows from the moment he walks in. He asks some little question… “now, why would the victim do a thing like that?” And the murderer, like a dummy, tires to answer instead of shrugging and saying, “I dunno, that’s your job.” That’s when Colombo knows he’s got 'em. Only the murderer works so hard to try and explain away every inconsistency.

    LOL, what great Monk scenes! Interesting topic. So many things I’d never even thought about. Thanks for the video. Oh, just one more thing 😉 Do you have any videos where you talk about the editing process?

      Hmm… there’s this one, but it’s on line editing, not developmental editing:"L ruclips.net/video/yYtO7Q3Nz6Y/видео.html

      That’s a great one! I think I’d be tempted to break that alibi by using a time-shifted murder. (I talked about those here: ruclips.net/video/yxJ26Er9_2M/видео.html)

    Can you write a "just one more thing" character without having him or her say "just one more thing"? Because I would assume an author could get in trouble if they use the words "just one more thing".

    • @janekalmes
      @janekalmes  Год назад +1

      A short phrase like that can’t be legally copyrighted… but you might tweak the sensibilities of other mystery fans. I would just think about other ways of phrasing this. “What I’m wondering is…” “Well, how about?” “Hate to bother you, but I’m still confused…” And
