** UPDATE, Aug. 2017 -- The Dremel tool is NOT the most efficient way to remove the grille, but it can be done. I have found that a DRILL PRESS or similar large-scale metal working tool is best. ALWAYS wear safety glasses & don't chop up your fingers. **
Get a whole new beautiful sound out of your Oktava MK-219 large diaphragm condenser microphone! The stock 219 is an excellent mic to begin with, but for practically zero dollars you can perform a few simple mods that bring out its true classic character.
This step-by-step video demonstrates in detail how to:
    1. Remove the prison-like grille for audio freedom
    2. Use caulking to dampen "body boink" case resonance
    3. Remove the HF lift resonator disc for smoother, classic sound
Those who carefully follow these instructions will hear some amazing changes in their MK-219 that are well worth the effort. If you don't already own one of these mics, do yourself a flavor & buy at least one -- every musician & recording engineer deserves one of these modded beauties in the mic locker!
