I really really liked that 117ci RoadGlide... the color, the wheels, everything about it looked sharp - too bad my wallet isn't fat enough. The old man at the end seemed to be the coolest demo ride leader... lol. Too bad other dealerships don't do more of this kinda stuff, I'd like to test ride a Yamaha XSR900. Thanks again for the awesome upload Jon, keep it up brother!
Dude, I know what you mean! My wallet needs to put on some weight as well before I pull the trigger on a road glide. Hahaha. That guy was hands down the best leader for the demo ride. By the end of the day, I had a real good handle on what makes for a good demo ride, with placement in the group, and the group leader being the two BIG factors. I think I discussed it somewhat in detail on one of the rides, so vid to come. Lol. It really was such a fun time though. Re the xsr900, I came SUPER close to picking one up recently. A chick was selling an fz07 and xsr900 together. Both had less than 1k miles and were basically brand new. After meeting up with her to look at them, she explained there were still liens on the bikes and that her and her "now x husband" were going through a divorce and she needed to get out of the payments. Needless to say, I decided not to get in the middle of that mess. Major drag, though, cause the bikes looked great. Oh yeah, she was also on her way out of the state so I would be left high and dry if she decided not to follow through with paying off the bikes, etc.
Yo! Congrats on the breakout! Only drag is how the heck are you going to last until June before riding it!?!?!? That's crazy talk! Hahaha! Ride safe, man!
Definitely some similarities. I think the breakout is available with the 114 and the sport glide is only offered with the 107 (I could be mistaken). I found the sport glide to be a more enjoyable ride (subjective of course). I dig the inverted front forks and it felt more nimble and comfortable.
Hey Jon what day did you go to bike week in AZ? I was there Saturday and Sunday of bike week. I know your some where near me just cant quit find it out yet. Would love to go riding some time.
Coo! I've always wanted to do those demo rides. I'm still stuck on crotch rockets...but, the new Slim caught my eye. I like the bobber look, denim black..bigger thank, my cup of tea. With the Brakeout..its fun ripping through stoplights or riding fast in the straight. Bar hopping bike..Not to be taken through canyons twisties. It looks like it will fight you through the turns till you get used to it. But they look great and they are very comfy. My 2nd choice after the Slim. Nice demo ride man!
Thanks, brotha! Yeah, it was a fun way to spend the day. The breakout, for me, is a great second or third bike. Like you said, good for rolling around town, not so good for twisties and all that. Some day I'll get another sport bike and get out to the track so I can learn to actually ride. Lol. Thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
Hey Jon could you pick up one of those for just wrapping around? Maybe put it up against the Raider😏 That would be awesome! Greets form Germany, love your channel🤙🏼🤙🏼
The one Dealer I got my Harley from let's you test ride and they let you go out without them. So I have been able to tear it up on a few different bikes
Good luck trying a knee drag with a breakout. To get right on the outer edge of the rear tyre you need to take out these sacrificial aluminium knobs under the footrest's and bring out the front fork at least 20 mm to get enough clearance. That alone still doesn't allow a knee drag. I'm trying it every so often and each time the footrest's are scraping which is horrible. One time the boot engaged with the asphalt and ripped off my foot from the footrest. Wasn't a nice experience.
I know it’s been awhile for this video if you even still get on here. But I was told at the dealership that the breakout turns like a Mack truck. Is that true? Would be my first bike.
Whats the deal with you guys in the US with these attended test rides. When we demo a bike In the UK they just let us loose on our own! Is it for some insurance reasons!
Hola garage de john! I’m about to sell my vrscd that I think is a very unique a super rare night rod and jump to a breakout exactly the one you drove in this video... even the same color here, and I’m having doubts about the 240 because I’m feeling great with the 180.... any advise?
Best bet is take one for a test ride and see what you think. Compared to the vrod, I feel like the handling on the breakout should feel a bit more nimble.
Tried the Breakout and hated it. Thought it was a horrible ride. Just not much fun. Felt like I could fall over all the time. Eventually got a Low Rider S 2017. I do think the Breakout LOOKS better, but as a ride I didn't like it at all.
Went on a test ride with Indian the other day. Rode the scout bobber. I was right behind the group leader. We rode slowish for a bit on the highway because we had a couple guys that were new riders. We got off the highway and turned onto a back road and he gunned it. I was like YES! Finally! Got to open it up and run it. I guess it depends on the group you roll with. Some know that people want to actually test the bikes lol. Glad you had a good time. I’ve been wanting to ride a breakout. Ride safe
You know EXACTLY how it feels! Hahaha..the ride quality depends heavily on who's in front of you in the group, and who's leading the pack. A few times the pack leader was really getting on it, but the dude in front of me wouldn't open it up. It was SO frustrating! I had to remind myself it was just a free demo ride, nothing to complain about. Lol.
Lol haha yep! Glad you enjoyed it man. Too bad you don’t live in the central Texas area. Would be cool to ride with you man. I usually ride solo. Ride safe man
A ninja im looking at 2018 breakout or a 2018 street bob. Im leaning towards the breakout and change it to higher handlebars so lower back dont lock up. But tuff decission cause street bob is a sick bike also nd lil cheaper. Howz ur expreience with the breakout
If you were looking at a cruiser that won't drag hard parts as bad in the canyons, the Fat Bob you had was probably the best Harley for that. The FXDR ergos get tiring quick, as does leaning it over on that 240 rear. The Sport Glide is also decent, but can't be had with the 114 motor, and is definitely going to be comfortable for longer rides. I need to try the breakout next time I hit up a HD Demo. Last one I was at I rode the FXDR, Sport Glide, CVO Road Glide (probably the exact same bike you rode), Street Glide special and Road King special. I found the Road King the nicest of the baggers in terms of handling. The Sport Glide was the most nimble by far.
Dude, my thoughts exactly! The RK took it for the baggers, and I couldn't believe how fun the Sport Glide was! I'm surprised they didn't inverted front forks on the breakout like they have on the sport glide. But hands down, the sport glide was the funnest bike I road that day, and I didn't even have it on my radar going into it. A pleasant surprise for sure. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Breakout from me. I'm on a 2017 CVO Pro Street scorched apple. It's a beautiful bike, chicks dig it and the stock 110 has plenty of get up to get me in trouble. If I had to describe it I would say it's a niche bike that's perfect for short rides and scoot'n around town. At highway speeds or anything over an hour it will wear your ass out.
@@bryanfrederick6384 oh yeah! I forgot you had mentioned flipping all kinds of crazy stuff! That's awesome! Hustling and enjoying the fruits of your labors!
Man I love that bike I'm either going to get a breakout or a fat boy have you had a chance to ride the fat boy yet ? .what they need to do is put some different exhaust on those bikes so you get the whole Harley-Davidson feel and that really gets you when you're riding it . In my city where I live there having a demo day at Harley dealer tomorrow and I'm thinking about going I'm afraid I walk out of there with a bike great video man
I had a 2011 fat boy lo a while back, but haven't had a chance to ride the new ones. I think you'll have a blast on either one. FatBoy obviously will probably be more comfortable. Someone was telling me the fatboy was their favorite. I wish I had taken it out. Yeah, these stock exhausts are pretty quiet - more in line with your metric cruisers. Lol. And be careful going to those demos - I nearly put a deposit down on a bike myself. Hahaha. Keep me posted if you end up getting one of the two!
Anyone know much about the old and new breakouts? I've been looking at getting one. It's my understanding the older models are a bit longer, works for me as I'm tall. Is the extra power worth going new??
I'm the same height as you but I have long legs so the 19 FLTRXS with stage 1SE and Rhineharts true duels fits me perfectly. The power with the six speed trans is blood rushing fun. Is imagine the weight difference gives that one a lot of weight to power umph
Yeah, if I brought the controls back even a few inches I'd be golden. I can only imagine how fun your bike is on the open road! What a rush! It's hard to compete with the true dual exhaust. Lol.
Groups are staggered formation. The side stand of the HD FXDR freaked me out. Stands so straight I thought it was going over any second as it was parked on a slight slope. Actually got back on and double checked I had the stand down correctly lol. I was kind of meh about the FXDR not worth all that extra cash imo. Wanted to ride the breakout but I didn't get a chance that day.
That's how the fatbob stand was - super goofy. Lol. I'll never be able to drop the cash on a new one, but if the right deal comes along on the used market, you bet I'll scoop it up! My thoughts on the fxdr were the same. Fun, but not a comfortable bike.
@@JonsMotoGarage I'd want the newer improved 18+ softail bikes with 107 or 114 motor so problem is they want a dam fortune for them to the point where you have to decide if you want to pay just a little extra and get brand new. At least up here in Canada.
@@threehemis5566 yeah, I know what you mean. If you look back through my vids you'll see j picked up a 2018 fatbob preowned. The dude let it go for $11500. I sold it, but am kicking myself now. Hahaha. Plus I hear they Jack the prices up even more in Canada? That sucks.

I wouldn't get rid of my bike for nothing , it's not a bike for cross country compared to other cruisers that have a better riding stance and luggage compartments but than I've done rode my r1 and really longe distances. Wow by breakout is wide and low , it's a jumbo bike compared to my 1982 superglide lowrider
Nice! I can imagine with a few small adjustments, I'd be totally in love with the breakout! And like you point out, people have ridden cross country on way less comfortable bikes. Lol.
I love those time share meetings. I always walk out with the awesome freebie and leave the salesperson dripping in sweat, knowing he's about to cop a bollocking by his superior for not making the sale! Honestly, everyone should so their unethical sales tactics become unfeasible
Hahahaha...Right? I actually totally enjoy the "hard closer" sales dudes trying to pull their tactics. They always get pretty irritated/angry when I call them out. My wife hates it cause she says things get real awkward. Lol. The thing is I always tell them from the get go that I won't be making a financial decision right here on the spot. @@humblewarriorus Two weeks isn't bad. Especially on your first since you're feeling out the market. Some go faster, others take a while. At least there's activity - that's a good indication. I'll have to check out the vid.
Yeah, I understand the rationale there. But at one point I had heard that around curves you go back into single file? Sounds like that's not the case though. I'll figure it out eventually. Lol.
Went to a harley demo event with my uncle about 2 weeks ago. Wanted to hop on the breakout but I sat on it and the ergo is uncomfortable for me. Surprised you liked it considering we're the same height. The heritage classic was by far the most comfortable one i tried, but with power plus handling I liked the fat boy the best... Which is odd because I like the looks of it the least haha pull back bars and a more comfortable seat and the fat bob would take it though
My biggest complaint on the breakout was just that - the forward controls aren't ideal for riders if our stature. This was my second ride of the day. As the sesh went on, I began to narrow down what I was really into. Surprisingly, the sport glide was the funnest of the bunch. But I never got on the fatboy, heritage, or some of the others. But coming from the road glide, the breakout was a blast!
@@johnathandk42134 for reals! And I was surprised the breakout doesnt have inverted front forks like most "performance" cruisers. The sport glide hit the mark for me!
I always liked the look of the breakout. But I was never really a fan. I rather have a wide glide or night train when it comes to the Harley bastard child. I didn’t like riding the road glide either. It felt too big. But the street glide I fell in love with and traded my street bob in for a left over 2018 street glide special. I want a softail deluxe for a around town cruiser and to modify even more to my liking but my bank account doesn’t agree just yet.
Congrats on the street glide! That's a sick bike! If only our bank accounts were endless! Hahaha. I'd have a fresh road glide all ready to learn wheelies. Lol.
I've ridden the chieftain and scout bobber. If you check back through my videos you may find them somewhere. Lol. Yeah, I enjoyed both and I'd love to get my hands on the new ftr1200s!
Additional - yes the group rides are really sketchy. One has no idea of the skill & experience level of those about you, so in fact, it is damned dangerous in my book! Add to that all are riding bikes - usually in urban traffic, that they are not familiar with and it multiplies the risk level.

in groups, I ride staggered even when doing turns. I must say though that not every rider know how or to stay in there line. for example, if im on the outside during a turn, I stay on the outside line. its an imaginary line but that's suppose to guide you when riding staggered. in my experience, some riders will be on the inside and come out on the outside during a turn when they're suppose to stay on the inside line. vice versa.
@Primedragoon Nice! So I'm not totally crazy for thinking that! Lol. I knew I'd seen or heard of it somewhere. Hahaha. At least I'm not getting my info from the "take over the streets" rides where you've got mass chaos with people doing wheelies and running into each other. Hahaha! Thanks for the info, brotha! Go and test ride a 545 lb Ducati Xdiavel or the new Diavel 1260 (2 lbs less), they destroy all other cruisers in every way. I wish I would have never sold my XDiavel! I test rode a 2015 Breakout and it was slow as shiz, my former chinese scooter felt faster but I hear the new Breakout you rode is much faster now with the new engine. Good looking bike tho.
The xdiavel is high on the list for bikes I need to get my hands on. I've heard great things about them. On a side note, I finally got myself another sport bike (it had been way too long)! Picked up a cbr600rr! Thanks for rollin through, cyclecruza! Big fan here!
You think this stock 114 is fun.... Try it with a woods 22x cam kit from fuel Moto along with a power vision K&N air filter and the pro pipe with they're torquiest baffel and drop two teeth on the compensator pulley and get back to me. LOVE MY SET UP.
I'd say the breakout and raider are tit for tat. The Stryker doesnt quite do it for me the same way these ones do though. But all three are great bikes no doubt.
I feel the same. Love the looks of the HD bikes and want to love them but come away underwhelmed after a ride. When you factor in how much they cost it makes me like my Victory all that much more.
So what made this the "WORST Demo Bike"? All I kept hearing was praise/compliments..or was I suckered yet again by click bait tactics which seems anymore 90+% of RUclips videos are turning into!
What made it the WORST demo bike imo is that on a demo ride you're stuck putting along at 45mph and this bike needs to be let loose on a drag strip, or at minimum, opened up a little bit. That is, I wasn't able to really tap into the potential or actually demo the bike. Of course anything labeled "worst" is going to be quite subjective. I'm pretty sure the majority of RUclips has been clickbait since the beginning. But that's subjective as well. Thanks for watching. Ride safe!
Harley is ass backwords. They need to put fwds on the street bob, low rider s.. and put the mids on fxdr and breakout. Do they understand rider triangles? Cuz they are like backwards with half their bar/seat/control combos

Yeah, you should be good to go. I didnt have much trouble with any if them.
@@JonsMotoGarage how about a tall 6'5" guy lol im looking for bikes for tall guys
That 240 back wheel didn't seem to be an issue for you - you didn't make any mention of it and seemed to have no problems with relatively sharp turns.
Can a new rider jump into one of these if they take their time learning the bike on low volume streets and neighborhoods?Want an older breakout. 103.
I would say no and this bike is kind of heavy a 1800 cc bike and it takes turns like dog shit
You can learn on anything 😉
I learned on a 100+ hp. Race ready motorcycle
Is the breakout like a sport glide
Definitely some similarities. I think the breakout is available with the 114 and the sport glide is only offered with the 107 (I could be mistaken). I found the sport glide to be a more enjoyable ride (subjective of course). I dig the inverted front forks and it felt more nimble and comfortable.
The Sport Glide handles. That's the difference.
Shout out to Germany! I'm always keeping my eyes peeled for good deals. Would definitely be a fun one to add t the garage. 🤙🏍
Great video, really enjoy your channel. I have a 2007 Night Train, love the bike, but hate forward controls.
Right!? Forward controls don't work well for my kind of riding. I dig the night trains! As always, i appreciate the support and feedback! 🤘😎
The one Dealer I got my Harley from let's you test ride and they let you go out without them. So I have been able to tear it up on a few different bikes
Dang, that's my dream dealer! Lol. Although maybe that wouldn't be so good - I'd make it through one test ride and they'd ban me for life. Hahaha.
All my local dealers let us demo the bikes without a follow along.
Redstone Harley lets you take them out alone as well. Awesome way to demo a bunch of different bikes and hopefully convince friends to buy a bike.
what HD's have tpms. ? So handy on bmw 's
So I love the breakout.. I have a 2018 breakout 114. Hands down best Harley I have ever been on top of....
Lol. I have no idea. Looks like I need to do my rides out of country. Hahaha.
Seems to vary from shop to shop here in the Southeast. Some just throw ya the keys and others you ride with a sales rep. Boo!!
Dam bro I hate watching your vids!!!.... Only because I work nightshift and every time I see your vids I want to ride lol

Ride safe man
@@TheTyrone1981 For reals! Would be dope to go ride!

A ninja im looking at 2018 breakout or a 2018 street bob. Im leaning towards the breakout and change it to higher handlebars so lower back dont lock up. But tuff decission cause street bob is a sick bike also nd lil cheaper. Howz ur expreience with the breakout
What do you think is faster the raider or this breakout?
Hmmmm...I feel like the breakout might be a bit faster off the line (with the right rider on board. lol). But I couldn't say for sure.
I have a 18 breakout and they are not made to tearing up the canyons. They suck at cornering with that 240 rear tire.
I’m 5’6” and really want this bike but not sure if it would be too much of a reach for me.
I’m 5’7’ and I have no trouble you would be fine
Road King Special Is my long distance Jam an Fatbob 114 for backroads an KTM 250 SX 2 smoker when I want to Hare Scramble 😁
The best of ALL worlds right there!

Love the breakout!!!
Nice ride?? I agree.. just oozzes
Aggression 😎🤘💪
Yeah, I blame the breakout for the people running through the red light. Hahaha.
Anyone know much about the old and new breakouts? I've been looking at getting one. It's my understanding the older models are a bit longer, works for me as I'm tall. Is the extra power worth going new??
I've heard great things about them. But personally, I'd go for the new m8. It feels a lot more refined imo.
@@JonsMotoGarage
I'm 6'5. Would the Breakout be a good option for a tall guy ?
Olders have more front suspension rake, then are a little longer and less taller
I'm the same height as you but I have long legs so the 19 FLTRXS with stage 1SE and Rhineharts true duels fits me perfectly. The power with the six speed trans is blood rushing fun. Is imagine the weight difference gives that one a lot of weight to power umph
I agree on the test ride though. You want to know what it can do.
Only drawback I have with my ride it sounds great but it's not as loud as my last bike which was an 05 FLHRCI with a vance and hines true duel exhaust
Yeah, if I brought the controls back even a few inches I'd be golden. I can only imagine how fun your bike is on the open road! What a rush! It's hard to compete with the true dual exhaust. Lol.
Breakout or Fatbob? And why?
Does the engine have A hormonic balancer? Just Asking anyone.

Softail Deuce, Screwed up on the Rocker and now the Breakout. The Breakout is a wider version of the Deuce. Great bikes.
I only had the chance to sit on the newer models at the NYC motorcycle show. To me they seemed lower and lighter wear I could flat foot all the models. The only ones I couldn’t flat foot was the ones from Indian motorcycles. I don’t do the test rides Because I don’t like to tease my self like that
Yeah, it's always a bit of a drag going from the latest and greatest back to whatever you have that isn't the latest and greatest. Lol.
If you can't give me a night or two to sleep on it, then I don't wanna do business with you. They still proceed to waste their time. At least I give fair warning.

Group rides: stagger so you can see each other easily in mirrors (common sense, right?)
@@JonsMotoGarage oh yeah, I scraped pegs on the sport glide not even realizing how fast I was turning. It handled really well!
@@johnathandk42134 for reals! And I was surprised the breakout doesnt have inverted front forks like most "performance" cruisers. The sport glide hit the mark for me!
Nice bike but absolutely cannot stand forward controls.
I hear ya with the forward controls. My biggest complaint for sure!
Lol.
Are you ever going to try an Indian?
I've ridden the chieftain and scout bobber. If you check back through my videos you may find them somewhere. Lol. Yeah, I enjoyed both and I'd love to get my hands on the new ftr1200s!
Additional - yes the group rides are really sketchy. One has no idea of the skill & experience level of those about you, so in fact, it is damned dangerous in my book! Add to that all are riding bikes - usually in urban traffic, that they are not familiar with and it multiplies the risk level.
Seriously. It's a recipe for disaster if one link happens to break.
Why the small gas tank? That's why I can't consider this bike, despite digging the style.
Great question! Lol. Not sure why they shrunk it for the new ones.
Kinda seems warrior like?

If you are turning onto a ramp or an intersection, then single file. Just going around a curve, stay staggered.
Got it! Good to know if I ever join a club or something. I'll be the idiot screwing up the formation. Lol.
If you go into a twisty section, go to single file
What are your thoughts on it today?
Still about the same as before. Shame they discontinued it for 2021.
Think I have heard they will continue the 114 model tho 🤷♂️
No kidding? Ill have to look into that. 👌💯
in groups, I ride staggered even when doing turns. I must say though that not every rider know how or to stay in there line. for example, if im on the outside during a turn, I stay on the outside line. its an imaginary line but that's suppose to guide you when riding staggered. in my experience, some riders will be on the inside and come out on the outside during a turn when they're suppose to stay on the inside line. vice versa.
Good to know. Thanks for the tips! My group ride etiquette is the worst! Hahaha.
@Primedragoon Nice! So I'm not totally crazy for thinking that! Lol. I knew I'd seen or heard of it somewhere. Hahaha.
