I wonder what the pan de sal was for. I was expecting that the bread would dissolve into the sauce while cooking that would thicken the sauce, just like when bread crumbs are added to sarciados. I guess it was just a cooking tradition that they hold on to, but overall, the humba will turn out just as good even without it. By the way, did you mean that the humba should be kept in a palayok for three days before eating?
