    That B natural at 2:19 is just MASSIVE... Gorgeous! It spreads all over the theatre and even outside...
    It reminds me to Marcelo Álvarez and co today😳 Yeah!

    Thank you. A pleasure to listen to. Aragall is a great tenor. Perhaps the greatest in the last fifty years. His timbre is better than both Pav's and Domingo's. Moreover, he could hit all the high notes too, like Pav. Minus his anxiety attacks which sidelined his career in some significant ways, he could've flown higher than the far more prolific Domingo and Pavarotti. Still, his silvery timbred instrument is a marvelous force of nature. For any aspiring lyric tenors, he is a wonderful act to follow.

      Dear Mickey, Aragall also suffered from migraine headaches.

    • @mickey1849
      @mickey1849 4 месяца назад +2

      @@sugarbist Yes. Such an awful malady also went hand-in-hand with the anxiety attacks. It takes many things to make a great singer, fortitude being one of them. But I admire that he wanted to spend more time with his family while he dropped out of the "singing grind." I hope he was able to tell his children how much he loved them and be a help and comfort to them as they were growing up. This is more important than being an opera superstar. And yet, he still is seen as a very important opera tenor in the last 1/3 of the 20th century. So he's done fine for himself! 🙂

      @@mickey1849 Pavarotti states here on YT that there were 3 other tenors that debuted during his time. Domingo Carreras and Aragall, and Aragall was the best of us.

      @@sugarbist Ha! You've got me there! I've also watched that interview with Pavarotti. Somehow I missed the part where he included Carreras. I thought for sure Carreras was a bit younger than that group, and he began his rise in the early 1970s. Well, you proved me wrong here😆. Fortunately the omission was harmless. Aragall is not disturbed in his position as the "best of us all." 😁

    Bravo what a great vocal talent form Jaime Aragall!!!!, he was considered a true challenger to Pavarotti and Carreras in his days. He had a warm and round sound , with an easy top ranger. Bravo!!!!!

      Pavarotti considered Aragall as the finest tenor.

    • @mickey1849
      @mickey1849 4 года назад +2

      @@esclarmonde1023 As among him, Domingo and Aragall, yes, you're right. Carreras wasn't mentioned. Pavarotti's words were, ",,,probably he (Aragall) was best." Aragall had a more beautiful timbre than Pavarotti, which is the base of any great tenor's voice--or any great singer's voice, for that matter. However, not to demean Pavarotti, he had his assets too, which I won't go into here.

    • @mickey1849
      @mickey1849 4 месяца назад

      Yes. I've also seen the interview with Pav you're talking about. Pav did rate Aragall's voice as better than his and Domingo's. And "Yes," Aragall did have a more beautiful timbre than Pav. But let's all remember that for both of them their technique was correct. Timbre is according to the unique vocal apparatus of each singer. This is what they are born with. First the technique must be perfected, then the singer can discover his true timbre. Some voices will be more beautiful than others, and that's a fact! (But the more beautiful voice may not necessarily be the most magnetic and compelling voice to listen to😉. It's all a box of chocolates in the voice world too, as in life!😁) Pav had trouble in the first five or six years of his career because he had a slightly anemic and screechy timbre which took a little getting used to. Wisely, he wasn't too choosy about where he found his jobs either. His Met debut came humbly at a Saturday afternoon matinée in November 1968, fully seven years and seven months after his professional debut at a small opera house outside his hometown of Modena in April 1961. I agree with you that Pav had his assets too, such as his ease with the high notes, his natural musicality, and his infallible technique, among others. Aragall's voice was a much bigger and fuller voice, also with fine musicality, so he had his assets too! But as you say, let's save that conversation about Pav's assets for another day. It's an amalgam of things that makes up a professional singer's voice, not just beautiful timbre! Jose Carreras wasn't mentioned in that particular interview for a very good reason. They were talking about the last half of the 1960s. Carreras didn't begin his rise until the early 1970s (1972-73). So he came along a bit after Pav, Domingo, and Aragall were already being noticed.
