Hear me out: you guys should do an inverse budget week. Every deck has a minimum number of TIX it needs to cost and it has to be something insane like 1,000 TIX. Hard mode: cheapest printings only.
On this week of "Punt or Bluff?" shenanigans abound! Will Tomer give away all his permanents or will Crim just take them by force? Tune in to find out!
@@ceroluthor it used to be Tomer years ago. They have hired an editor since season 5 or 6. Niutuc is the current one. Tomer will edit the rare episode but that’s about it.

Richard said at the beginning he couldn’t think of a good mono-green control commander. Yeva, Nature’s Hreald is perfect, I’m working on brewing her right now. Just turn your ETB creatures into instants so you don’t have to play them on your turn and can react to what your opponents are doing. Reclamation Sage becomes Naturalize, Gaea’s Herald becomes a counterspell against counterspells, you can flash in blockers, etc. Arasta’s decent because she gives you plenty of blockers, but Yeva gives you way more versatility with your plays.
Been playing this for years, so fun. I use a combo kill for my deck so most of the game is slowly assembling the pieces while making sure that no one else’s board gets too out of hand.
I'm only an hour into the episode, but I LOVE the energy coming from everyone on the crew this week - feels like everyone's just having a fun time with their jank decks! One of my favourite episodes in a while so far :)
Crim, I just want you to know that after you signed my Opposition Agent at CommandFest Richmond, I flashed it in in response to a Defense of the Heart trigger that same night. Really enjoyed the game we played! Thanks again for the awesome experience! ☺️👍
Tomer: waffling over having to discard cards because his reliquary tower was stolen Also tomer: has a brand in hand and instead chooses to curse Richard again Also also tomer: wheels his homeward path to the bottom of his library
1:01:01 As a person who loves the Lonis/Daxos/Evelyn/Capt. N'ghathrod/Nassari style of steal decks, I still agree that Homeward Path style effects need to be printed more often. I will cry, but accept the turn of events.
You have no idea how big of a smile is on my face as a collector and fan of green since 1994 as the green control deck is being talked about. A few months ago I finally finished a mono-green-control cEDH home brew very different than your list and with twice the spice. ;) Questing Beast is a godly beast. Richard, I understand the smile.
Curse of Verbosity gets my opponents to kill a target that isn't me. That's a big reason I like it! Also if I attack the person myself ibdrae a card and nobody else does ;)
@@MTGGoldfishCommander hey, thanks for the reply! ☺️ Yeah, Verbosity may be better... But I still think they're similar. 😆 Edit: forgot to mention that I'm totally pro-verbosity, and pro-rendezvous. 👍 I support your use, especially given the substitution you mentioned!
40:35 As someone who has resolved a scrambleverse in paper, it’s not that bad. The way I do it is I ask the table to hand me all the nonlands, roll a d4, and pass it to the respective player. If you actually try to do it the way it’s stated, yes, your other players will hate you, but the way I did it only takes like a minute or so at most. I also only do it once a game, so that probably helps.
why did tomer punt when he destroyed the illusions of grandeur, he could have put them all on a clock if he would have casted fractured identity? that sounds like a major punt
1:20:38 I'm pretty sure the correct line here is to Agent of Treachery to take back the Reliquary Tower, let Crim steal it again, and then on the next turn use the Sun Titan trigger to get back the land swapper dude to take it back AGAIN, with full mana and all those cards to find a way and get rid of Evelynn or Crim.
That line doesn't work if Phil casts the Blasphemous Act that the viewers know is in his hand, but taking a sub optimal line to play around a board wipe you don't know about, right after a board wipe resolved, is not the move.
Green Counter Spell idea: GGG, Instant, "As you cast this spell, note the highest mana value among creatures you control. Counter target spell if its mana value is less than the noted mana value."
Or "Spell Fight", GGG, Instant, "As an additional cost, sacrifice a creature. Counter target spell if its mana value is less than or equal to the sacrificed creature's power."
It should be way more expensive and it should be a flash creature 2GGG 3/3 when spell beast enters the battlefield the creature with the highest power you control fights Target creature spell (if the spell being fought is less than or equal the mana value than the creature who is fighting Power shuffle that spell into their owners library.)
Ah yes, another game in which Crim helps the table almost as much by running a responsible amount of interaction as he hurts it by the specter of Opposition Agent...
If we get a green counter spell I bet it will only hit enchantments and non-creature artifacts. Or maybe black and/or blue spells. Probably will be an etb effect on a 3/4 cmc flash creature.
So I’m only a half hour in but my idea for pure green countermagic would be flash creatures with keyword spell savagery or savage casting or whatever but it would essentially be if played when it’s not your turn: counter target spell with lower cmc/power/toughness and would let them print some pretty neat cards. Green has some decent stuff like heroic intervention to respond on their turn but not much to stop the stack.
Not when during spoiler season this was recorded but commander legends 2 does have a green dragon that counters abilities so y'all ain't wrong about green control.
LOL I have a monogreen control I made just to play one and my wincon is huracain effects and glacial chasm XD but I use a lot of enchantment to draw cards and annoy value players Nice build Richard, show them the power of the brocoli!
Richard is completely correct about curses, especially that one. Luckily lead of casual play design (commander) is on record as really disliking those cards so we shouldn't see much design like that from commander products.
MTGO is easier to follow at base and can easily edited for stuff like constant hand cams. It is also much easier to get different decks every week on mtgo, in paper it would require a huge collection for each player or proxying an entire deck every time, or less variety in the decks showcased. Spelltable also makes some card flat out not really usable, the Gontis and opposition agents and theft in general much harder. Is it better or worse than the missing cards on mtgo? Probably only a sidegrade on the card pool. There is the occasional paper game, but once a season at most when things line up for it.
"Mono-Green Control" has been my team's 2HG team name for our pre-release events. I guess we need to find something *more* ridiculous now. XD Richard nonsense is my favorite nonsense.
Hrm, wasn't fractured Identity + patrician's scorn on the Illusions of Grandeur basically lethal for most of the table? Could've killed 2 of them with that.
Lore fact of the day: Knight of the white orchid's steed is not in fact a lion, but a leotau, eg Grizzled leotau. They are a race unique to Alara (Bant) that are more sentient than your average horse mount!
I would never play a Mono green deck because I’m not a monster, but I would choose Kogla for Mono Green control, personally. Kogla is also a nice body for the green card draw.
Tomer why not use Fractured Identity on the Greven the turn you destroyed his Whispersilk? Instead of playing two signets and use all gold tokens to cast Puca's Mischief :P Would have all but ensured victory on your coming turn if Phil had to use all his mana to re-cast Greven, instead you were exposed and if Phil had played his turn better would have killed you
He needed Fractured Identity for his combo. The combo is Fractured Identity Nine Lives then in response to losing the game, cast Patrician’s Scorn so the three opponents lose first. Tomer just could not find his copy of Nine Lives; it was in the bottom 12 of his deck. Tomer wanted to win in that very specific, janky way.

why did tomer punt when he destroyed the illusions of grandeur, he could have put them all on a clock if he would have casted fractured identity? that sounds like a major punt
No, because each illusion copy would ETB gain 20 life, so only the target of Identity (Crim) loses life there
I love Seth, but Crim actually knows how to fight against the Archenemy Tomer and it makes the game way more enjoyable
