I am new at this and have a new 8000 FL. Today I tried a red anodized sprocket with my glass bead. It worked great. Then I took it to the buffing wheel. Turned out like a mirror with very little effort. I love my new machine. I wish I could post a picture of it on here. 👍🇺🇸
@@VaporHoningTechnologies I'm old. I don't have Instagram.😩 I'm thinking about doing a quick RUclips video on some of the things I have tried. I got the machine mainly for doing motorcycle cases for a private museum that I'm building bikes for, but it can do so much more. Shout out to Desire for putting up with all of my questions. I hope I didn't misspell her name. 🤔 👍🇺🇸

If you are just looking to remove oil and grease, our Hydro Blast is a perfect solution. It uses high pressure water and a detergent to clean your parts with ease. The Hydro Blast will not clean anything past surface contaminants, but you do not have to worry about abrasive on your parts. If you are looking to shine up your parts, glass bead in a vapor honing cabinet always works excellently! We want to make sure you get the results you are looking to achieve, so if you have any questions, feel free to call us at 828-202-5563! Thanks!
I recently purchased the 800 FL and removed gold anodizing off some BBS wheel faces that a local powder coater could not remove using their strip tank. My 800 FL with 220 mesh blend easily removed anodizing before ceramic polishingwas performed. Blasting left a nice smooth profile. I even experimented on another BBS wheel face that I blasted and ceramic polished. I wanted to see if the 800 FL would leave a smooth enough profile for polishing without any sanding. I blasted it and put it straight into my polisher with no other prep. It turned out amazing!! I have very little experience/time with this blaster, but I love it already
Clear coating is an excellent option! The 220 won't leave a super susceptive surface, but if it is something you want to try, we do offer free application testing. Hope this helps!
Where would you draw the line for using AO on engine parts (cams, blocks, heads, etc) -- I have a 8000FL and using pure glass bead I can barely strip any coatings or oxidisation. I'm thinking about throwing a couple of scoops of AO in the mix to get cutting power (also to help removing old paint and stuff) but hoping that the glass bead polishes. Would 10Z 120 AO in an otherwise glass bead set-up make sense?. I'm running about 90PSI usually.
AO won't damage any of your engine internals by blasting, but if you are wanting to still get a good shine, a mixture is a great idea. Call us at 828-202-5563 and we can specify the perfect mixture for you!
@@VaporHoningTechnologiesI guess it's simply a question of Mohs/Rockwell hardness scale right? AO is 46 HRC, cam lobes for e.g are Rockwell-C 58-60, is it that simple?
I have a Weekend Warrior, and when I bought it, I got 5lb bag of aluminum oxide 220 mesh along with a couple of 25lb bags of glass bead. Is the 5lb bag going to be enough after I fill it with water, or do I need to add anything else to it (glass bead)?
The Weekend Warrior requires 25 pounds of abrasive, so if you would like to use the 5 pounds of aluminum oxide, make sure to add 20 pounds of glass bead! Let us know if you have any other questions.
Glass bead is great for aluminum parts. It's round and polishes. The aluminum oxide is great for removing paint or heavily corroded parts. I personally don't put greasy parts in my cabinet. In my opinion it is easier to clean it first and that way your media is clean and see me s to make results faster. It could just be my imagination.

So glass bead would be the best for oily caked aluminum timing chain covers, cylinder heads, and other engine parts?

What media do you recommend for brake calipers going to powder coating
120 or 220 AO will provide a great bonding surface!
I like the finish of 220 but how would you recommend protecting it from oils/stains ? Thanks

how much psi for every media bro?
All of the strips were done at around 90 PSI. Let us know if you have any other questions!

You are correct! Pre-cleaning your parts is a great way to speed up the vapor honing process and to get the absolute best finish possible.
