    Hey all, if I were to want to keep around 4-5 releases per game, should I just use ones that I like the best or are there certain releases that I should be using? Thanks for vid btw

      Every, single release, depends on the situation.
      The better you get with reading DB's and coverage, the more you will know WHICH releases to use. How the DB lines up, tells you a LOT about the release you should use.
      For instance...In both of these clips, the DB's are basically in catch technique- playing you straight up, without any shading to the inside or outside. When they are within 2-5 yards of the line in this stance, you can assume 90% of the time, they are going to jam you off the line or get hands on you to disrupt your route. This requires SPECIFIC releases off the line!! Not just any or all work in this situation.

      Would recommend 4/5 you like but they all build off each other. So like for example you can do a hesi and go, hesi slide, hesi slide fade/slant etc.

    Is it allowed for a tight end to push down the DB into the first 5 yards?

    • @firstdowntraining
      @firstdowntraining  2 года назад

      Yessir within 5 just about anything is legal- can’t do illegal contact to the face

      Interesting,So for example if the TE was going to run a route they could push off within 5yrds (assuming balls not passed) is this NFL, college or both contact rules?

      @@ScarletBry i think it’s both. I play college rules and in this case are the rules the same like in the nfl

    How close is the DB allowed to line up next to the WR?

    • @firstdowntraining
      @firstdowntraining  2 года назад +1

      As close as he wants as long as he doesn’t cross the Line of scrimmage

  • @JM-hv6rh

    No,,, The WR hands are below his Knees. He's Defenseless. His hands should ALWAYS BE UP . , Like a fighter. Now the DB will be off balance once the receiver Bumps off the dbs hands. Now he's in position to go around him. Most dbs that jam hard like that, don't have good recovery speed, so they try to jam up to keep the receiver from coming off to run their rout. Keep your hands up. This goes both ways for dbs and Receivers.

      If your hands are up that’s fine but if you’re tense you have no range of motion

    • @romanodonnell552

      I agree, it's best when WR's hands are up. WR's need to work on hand fighting to prevent from getting jammed. Shock release work great if your a bigger stronger WR. If your not, you should work hand fight and quick feet working at the same time. The scotch release can also be effective, but again I believe it should be combine with hand fighting if needed.
