Purchased the standard founders pack. After 25 hours in, I'm now in gold tier Ranked and it's actually very competitive! Game is fun, should be interesting to see what happens after free to play kicks in.
While I'm not interested in playing the game, I am interested in seeing more mini reviews like this.

There are currently no microtransactions. They will come after season 2 when everyone on standard and deluxe editions will have used their golden pass credits
Great James is pushing another micro transactions/gimmick game 😂. Everyone should look into his previous favorites like multiverse from WB, stadia, and anything he can get running on his raspberry pi laptop. Also, the term is a “10 foot pole” :) regardless great job James

I got the ultimate edition because my partner and I really love Mario Cart and Disney. It was a must have for us. It is nice you don’t have to actually spend money on anything. Just takes time and practice. I’m not very good at racing games but this one actually works altogether. Which makes taking your time to unlock everything so enjoyable.

So I need help I'm stuck in this part of the game that it tells me that I need to level up my character to progress in the circuit thing I'm level one n the track is required level 3 but when I go update it doesn't let me at all
Like i have no shards to level
How do I get those or what do I do
I got 1 place in all the previous tracks but is just that one that doesn't let me go :/

I'm on PS4 with the same issue. I have let them know every way possible about this issue. They have said they are aware of the issue but as of this comment no fix
you dont use shards to level up. you get parts and for the first 5-6 levels you use flags. you can get those from singleplayer or multiplayer. if you've already completed some races you should have what you need to upgrade! hope this helps!
You need to do the limited time events. If you try to finish the campaign first, you won't have everything you need to level up. I think this is the game's (awkward) way of trying to force players to try out different modes. If you look at the various limited events, you can see what each goal will reward you with, and selectively go after the ones that give you the items you need.

Your upgrade button is red and says 'ERROR' right? It's a bug on PS4.
@@Indigenerd Your situation might be a bug. The OP didn't describe that. OP clearly described lacking upgrade materials ("Like I have no shards to level. How do I get those or what do I do...?"). Which is not a bug, as you're meant to get them from other modes. My comment was in response to the OP, as evidenced by the fact that it was not directed at you. Chill. Attacking random strangers on the internet for offering tips won't get you anywhere. It certainly won't fix either your problem or OP's.
I got the ultimate edition and I don't regret it. This game is awesome and I can't wait for Wreck it Ralph and Zootopia seasons :)
this game is not pay to win just yet.... and who knows if it ever will be? the developers could easily carry this game all the way with no microtransactions. with that being said if you bought the more expensive bundle then yeah you may get a head start but if someone plays more they can easily pass you. almost any new drop for a game is like this and the way Disney made it all work is in my opinion the best way for any game to do. this game is taking heat from every youtuber ive seen review it and all say the same thing that its just P2W but its really not. there's nothing you can even spend a dime on other then the starting bundles.
I got the $30 version and I'm very happy with it. There's so much to do, and its so much fun 😁
I hope they keep updating this game with new racers, tracks and challenges. 😊

I own a PS4 and I am desperately looking for a very good Kart Racing game. I already have a few very good racing games but, when it comes to Kart Racing games, Team Sonic Racing didn't make me enthusiastic. Regarding the Crash Bandicoot racing game, oh well, I hated that. I think that, as I PS4 owner myself, should probably give this a try, right?

@@jpcoqueran I honestly think that the PS4 version of this game is overrated. It's extremely difficult and I don't find it charming at all. I have friends who played the PS2 version of the game, and they all say that the old version is better

I picked up the ultimate edition on Xbox and haven't looked back, the game is AMAZING! It's filling the place in my soul that Crash Team Racing used to occupy👌🏻
P.S. This is a great review, and I appreciate that you broke down some of the mechanics like racer classes and pickups. Not enough people doing that!

@@TheCoCreator6 honestly they've only made it better since release too. I'd highly recommend it. There's a bit of grind when it comes to unlocking and levelling characters, but I think it's worth it. Been playing every day since it came out!

Everyone complaining about micro transactions on a free to play game that’s only paid to play for early access which they also give you things for (currency & unlocks) are kind of ridiculous… what the hell do you guys want from a game? If it’s free to play, obviously the developer spend time and money making it they need to make money back. And tell me Fortnite isn’t a completely micro transaction Riddled game.
no. You do not need to pay anythig to unlock anything gameplay related except aa one ttime purchase for save the world. And the battle pass pays foor iitself annd thenn soome.
Pie for the ultimate twice. Both my kids don’t like it, I think it’s meh, but my wife loves it.
For me I feel like during the races there are just pockets of slow. Like I can’t explain it, the race is going fine but then it just feels like your characters cart is slowing down for no reason. Especially on rails. Almost every time I try to drive on a rail I get smashed into by the person in places 2-4… idk if they’re just boosting on rails of if they have an advantage on rails…. Also as soon as I unlocked the battle pass and saw how much I needed to do for the weekly quests I became extremely discouraged. 600 boosts on one specific map?? Definately not for casual play.
I just hit the 60 hour mark on xenoblade2 and I’m trying to hurry through that game before the new Zelda comes out. I was hoping that with this Disney game I could get on, but stitch when it comes out, and just beat my wife whenever she thinks she’s getting good, but it looks like I’m going to have to grind for anything
I mean this game is from Gameloft and the Asphalt developers. Did anyone really expect anything other than a microtransaction riddled game? That being said, I don't think it's P2W, more P2Progress than anything. And yes the track, character and overall aesthetic of the game is top tier which is saying a lot. On PC, there are very few kart racers, one of which is an open source game that stars the Linux mascot after all. So it's either that, or the Sonic kart racers I suppose. Still, Speedstorm is fun, which is the most important thing really. Grindy, yes. Fun, absolutely.

Game looks fun, but the amount of grinding and MTX are definitely a turnoff. Probably gonna pass on it
And don’t go with defender because there commons you want belle or balloo as for there the highest rararity at epic

I liked the flow over all but maybe take a breath between segments as it did feel akin to Zero Punctuation with less energy.
