At first I was too, I had my wife hold the bike just incase until I got the hang of it. It's pretty easy once you do it a few times and it makes cleaning the chain a breeze!
I was scared too initially. Get a great paddock stand for one. The first I bought was flimsy even with it's $120 price tag. Second, I find putting a 1" thick or so block of wood under the kickstand so the bike is almost vertical and turning the handlebars slightly to the left both for lifting and setting back down.
I need to buy the same for my new Speed Twin. Just a bit scared to use it the first times 😅
