There was a bit of time between the first shot and the second shot. You'd think someone coulda tackled the shooter right after the first shot. I haven't seen any discussion on why that didn't happen. My own guess is that it didn't happen because the Japanese are so used to peace and so unused to guns, that the reality of the situation was just too weird for anyone there to understand it quickly enough.

Japanese security and body guards are complete USELESS! Why was the assissian able to get soooo close of 15 feet from Abe?? No one carry metal detectors?? Why was Abe not wearing bullet proof vests when outside?? This is a complete failure of the security police in Japan! I have lived in Japan for one year, and they just don't expect such a assissian to occur, thus, they are very relaxed and not doing their jobs correctly!! So very stupid of these security bodyguards. It surprises me that the mother of Shinzo Abe's assassin wasn't worried about her own son, at what punishment he would be given, but rather she is responded by saying she "Only talked about how sorry she was for causing trouble to the Unification Church." You know a religious group is BAD if you see the visible dangers of religious fanaticism, especially when a mom is brainwashed to choose religion over family. I am surprised the assassin accomplished his goal, in many ways, as now there are major talks in dissolving the Unification Church in Japan. As they say, Action speaks Louder than words.

My thought exactly. I'm an American living in Japan. In Japanese media they showed footage of Abe's security while PM and after. There is notably less precautions taken. While he was PM he had a security person stand behind him at events facing outward. They also reported that Abe had only one 1 actual security person, all the others were local police. The media here has also shown the training that security personnel go through and it is quite extensive. But the sad thing is that everyone thinks Japan is very safe which it is. This really is a once in a long time incident. But still, very sad and tragic.

The United States of America revived Nazism in Ukraine and armed the Nazis, who kill civilians in the Donbass with American weapons and commit crimes. The United States has built military biological laboratories in Ukraine and around the world to harm humanity. The United States brought radioactive metals to Ukraine to help the Nazis build an atomic bomb. The US weakens any country that has the potential for development. The United States destroyed the countries of the Middle East in order to stop their development. The US wants to destroy Russia, but Russia is defeating American, British and other war criminals in Ukraine. Shinzo Abe said that NATO (led by the US, of course) and Zelensky are to blame for the situation in Ukraine. It is not difficult to guess that the US was afraid of Shinzo Abe, who could be friends with Russia because he was already collaborating with Putin, but the current Prime Minister of Japan is a disgraceful servant of the US, who quickly destroyed all relations with Russia... The US killed Shinzo Abe. White Americans, British and other Westerners will answer for their crimes and will be completely destroyed very soon. What goes around comes around...

It’s kind of shocking how easy it was for an assassin to get that close to a former Prime Minister in a country that totally outlaws firearms. When a country thinks that they have outlaw firearms, their guards go down while citizens ingenuity goes up. It is not hard to make an explosive.

Abe did have a significant security detail assigned to him that day(less so than when he was premier, but still more than many other leaders). From the video, it seems that they were very spread out and in the crowd and none of them within arms, or two-arms reach of him. When the first shot rang out, his security detail seemingly froze due to confusion, but the majority of the security ran to the suspect, and only 2 ran in front of him, none moving Abe himself out of the way before he was shot.
Failure to deploy the "suitcase-shield", and very limited coverage to block any projectile/bullets left him shot a second time. The bullet that likely caused the most damage.
Its a shame, and no doubt a tragedy, but the security detail really did not expect something like this to happen. If there were prior intelligence, or even a verbal emphasis to the security team of the possibility of gunfire, the security detail would no doubt have saved his life.
This is just my take on this, but obviously the investigation will find out more, and prevent anything like this from happening again.

      - Most terrible incompetent bodyguards ever
      - Most brain dead crowd ever, only watch, do not help
In short. This was totally a preventable tragedy. Bodyguards have the sole purpose of protecting their client and preventing the worst, so they prepare for the worst.
Every single one of these bodyguards should be put to court and trialed for negligence and incompetence. Such a disgrace.
Abe will be best known for his smart economic development plans which saved Japan from economic collapse and actually led to a growth (Abenomics). But he also increased military spending and capacity by a lot which is very controversial. But he is very popular and beloved most Japanese and that's why he is longest serving PM of all time.
However we can all agree that Abe is by far the most handsome and charismatic Japanese leader in a very verh long time.
Rest in peace. This was quite the shocking crime. But Japan's society has long been sick and twisted so its unsurprisingly some people have gone insane for them to do this to a retired old man...
This is a huge impact on Japanese society and I think from now on Japan will never be the same, both preventing these frenzy events by improving mental health and mental support and also greatly increasing
awareness of self-protection and bodyguard work.

I have a question for you: WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO GO TO HEAVEN? According to the Bible, John 3: 5 tells us “..unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.”
You need to be born again in Christ, in order to enter Heaven when you die: that means change your ways and live a righteous life. No one is perfect, but it important to repent everyday, because the worst thing anyone can ever hear is “Depart from me, I never knew you”…and be thrown into the eternity of Hell forever and ever.

Abe was not as bad as Donald Trump, but like Boris Johnson, he was constantly criticized domestically for his gaffes and dishonesty.
He refused to acknowledge the numerous war crimes committed by the Japanese military during World War II and was fervently supported by right-wing historical revisionists.
He was also a man with ties to the heinous cult FFWPU, which is known to be the cause of his assassination.
His assassination is an unfortunate event, but it is wrong to deify him.

Only a doctor can legally pronounce someone dead unless it's visibly obvious that the person cannot possibly be alive (e.g. the head has been severed, the body is mutilated, mummified etc.). Simply showing no vital signs isn't enough for police or paramedics to pronounce someone dead so in that case, the person, whoever it is, is always transferred to a hospital before being confirmed dead. Until then, the person's condition is described as "Heart and lung function ceased", which means in actuality "seems dead but needs confirmation by doctor".

@@jonathanfigueroa1035 Yes, countries do security differently. In my country, the current Prime Minister has security at all hours, but former PM's do not, unless there is a genuine reason to add more security. (Like if they have received a lot of harassment and threats.)
I don't know how they do it with speeches though. Maybe they have somewhat tight security if they give speeches at events? But not to the point where they're not accessible. Politicians are supposed to be accessible. You can walk up to and talk to prominent politicians, even the PM, if you see them.
I don't know how things are in Japan, but I'm just highlighting that security detail varies a lot around the world. Of course, they should've been better prepared. Even though things are more lax in my country, as opposed to in the US for example, the PM still has security close by that will pay attention to everything. They won't interfere if a fan or someone who just wants to talk is approaching (they can tell this very quickly), but if someone seems like a possible threat, they will interfere. I'm not a security expert, but they guy walked towards the PM and pulled out a shotgun. I'm pretty sure that a security experts paying close attention would've spotted this and stopped him before he got that far. Instead, it seems like they heard shots and then figured there was a threat nearby.

Completely useless!!

He tried to intervene in the prosecution's personnel to avoid pursuing his allegations. There is a bureaucrat who committed suicide on his suspicion. The Cabinet has tampered with the statistics. My condolences to the prime minister. But I have no sympathy for him or his political affiliations. He and his Nippon Kaigi cronies have controlled Japan for a long time by distorting Japan’s role in WWII and denying war crimes against Asians (predominantly Koreans and Chinese), Europeans, and Americans in Japan’s education. Japan may be one of the safest nations in the world. Still, as long as his cronies remain in control, minorities in Japan, countries neighboring Japan, and Asian Americans will never be safe from people like him and his political affiliations.

I will not speak about the Korean record because that is between Korea and Japan. But 'countries neighboring Japan will never be safe' is nonsense. FACT: Under LDP, Japan has started no wars and the Japanese military has not killed a single person in 60 years. Worry about China and North Korea killing you now, not Japan from last century. Your warning about Japan is nonsense.

Shinzo Abe misses his grandfather Nobusuke Kishi so much that he often visits the Yasukuni Shrine. So, his grandfather sent someone to find him to meet in hell!
On July 14th, 1960, Shinzo Abe's grandfather Nobusuke Kishi was assassinated (the assassination was unsuccessful). Shinzo Abe repeated the mistakes of his grandfather.
It is said that Tetsuya Yamagami, the suspect in the assassination of Shinzo Abe, was a former member of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
Soldiers are the people closest to war. Japanese soldiers oppose warmongers Shinzo Abe, very good!
The revival of fascism in Japan goes against the wishes of the Japanese people! It is hoped that the death of Shinzo Abe will serve as a warning to Fumio Kishida, another descendant of war criminals who colonized Taiwan.
Nobusuke Kishi, was once called the "Monster of Manchuria”. He was the Deputy PM of the puppet Manchukuo. His hands were stained with the blood of the Chinese people. his main "performance":
      1. He cultivated opium poppy on a large scale and monopolized the opium trade in Northeast China, becoming the second largest source of revenue for the Puppet Manchukuo after tariff revenue. He personally brought tons of opium to Shanghai to trade, and together with the Japanese army stationed in Shanghai, he made huge profits.
      2. He vigorously promoted the “Manchuria and Mongolia pioneering group” to immigrate to Northeast China, forcibly occupying the land and villages of Chinese farmers, causing a large number of Chinese families to lose their land and homes, to be displaced, freeze to death and starve to death.
      3. During his stay in Manchuria, he also actively organized comfort stations for the Kwantung Army, forcibly recruited or deceived Chinese and Korean women as comfort women for the Japanese army to vent their animal desires...
      4. He formed the infamous Unit 731 to conduct bacterial experiments on living people, and the main funds were raised by him. It can be said that he is one of the main planners of Unit 731.
Unit 731 dissects a living Chinese child.
Because of his numerous crimes, he was greatly appreciated by the Japanese military. After returning to Japan at the end of 1939, he served as the Minister of Commerce and Industry in the Japanese Cabinet.
Since then, Nobusuke Kishi made greater efforts to be loyal to Japanese fascist regime, firmly supported the launching of the Pacific War, signed the declaration of war against the United States, and become the most capable cabinet member of Hideki Tojo's wartime cabinet.
Under the full operation of Nobusuke Kishi, coal, grain and iron ore plundered from China and oil, rubber, wood, copper and other strategic resources plundered from Southeast Asia were continuously transported to Japan, which became the driving force of Japan's crazy war machine.
At this time, Nobusuke Kishi has changed from the "Monster of Manchuria” to the "Monster of the Shōwa era".
After Japan's defeat, Nobusuke Kishi was listed as a Class A war criminal, but because Hirohito knelt down and licked MacArthur, comfort stations were set up all over Japan, MacArthur was very happy, and finally Nobusuke Kishi was "acquitted".
Nobusuke Kishi thought he could not escape death, but he did not expect to be "acquitted" by the Americans. He was grateful to the United States when he came out of his cell. He just wanted to lick MacArthur's ass and show his loyalty all the time. MacArthur immediately said when he saw Nobusuke Kishi's attitude: Yes, we can rest assured of you, and the Japanese government will hand it over to you in the future.
With the strong support of the United States, in 1957, the war criminal Nobusuke Kishi became the Prime Minister of Japan.
In this way, Nobusuke Kishi pledged his infinite allegiance to MacArthur and his oath of allegiance to the United States.
In the process of kneeling and licking the United States, fruitful results have been achieved.
His greatest "merit" was the vigorous push for the “Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security between the United States and Japan” under his leadership, which asserted that the United States must defend Japan and that Japan must be defended by the United States - ultimately making Japan a vassal state of the United States.
In fact, many opposition parties in Japan were opposed to becoming a colony of the United States, but Nobusuke Kishi even disregarded the procedures of the Japanese constitution and went to Washington in January 1959 to sign a new U.S.-Japan Security Treaty. Since then, Japan is no longer an independent country.
After returning to Japan from the United States, hundreds of thousands of demonstrations awaited him, surrounding the halls of Congress, and there were many voices of opposition, but Nobusuke Kishi, no matter what, swore allegiance to the United States and forcibly ratified a new U.S.-Japan Security Treaty that would It will take effect automatically after one month
Hundreds of thousands of protesters surround the Japanese National Diet building during the massive 1960 Anpo protests against the U.S.-Japan Security Treaty
Hagerty's car is mobbed by protestors, June 10, 1960
July 14, 1960, Prime Minister of Japan Nobusuke Kishi after the attempted assassination, being tranported to the hospital
Shinzo Abe was a big fan of his grandfather, Nobusuke Kishi.
Nobusuke Kishi's "political legacy" was inherited and carried forward by Shinzo Abe.
Why do Shinzo Abe. like to visit the Yasukuni Shrine so much?
Because the shrine enshrines a group of fascist beasts, including his grandfather Nobusuke Kishi.
The US has left a strong political force of conservatism in Japan (old political forces).
Why Japan did not face up to history is also because the current ruling group is still the old ruling group in World War II.
Japan is a hereditary politics, and the Japanese ruling class is essentially a ruling class whose militarism may come back at any time.
      Fumio Kishida's family
After the Sino Japanese War of 1894-1895, Fumio Kishida great grandfather Ikutaro Kishida became rich by plundering resources in Jilong, Taiwan, with the Japanese army. Fumio Kishida is so concerned about Taiwan, China, because he wants to inherit the career of his great-grandfather!
Fumio Kishida's grandfather, Masaki Kishida, a World War II war criminal, member of the Japanese House of Representatives after World War II
In the World War II, his grandfather Masaki Kishida served in the Japanese Navy, and successively served as naval participant officer, naval political assistant, national defense Commissioner, liberal party general affairs, etc.
After World War II, Masaki Kishida was dismissed from office for being a war criminal, but eventually returned to the House of Representatives because of dirty deals between Japan and the United States.
Of course, we have leftists in Japan to thank.
Japan's teachers' Union is Left-wing (Only 0.4% of schools use right-wing textbooks), Kitano Takeshi, Japanese national treasure director, Doraemon author Fujiko f Fujio, Miyazaki Hayao and so on are all Left-wing.
There are not a few leftists in the Japanese intellectual, cultural and artistic circles.
In addition, the Communist Party of Japan(CPJ) is a communist party with a longer history than the CPC.
The ruling class in Japan is quite divided from the lower classes.
This is the status quo in Japan.
To some extent, this explains why the Japanese people have always advocated peace, while the Japanese government (old political forces) is busy revising the peace constitution, amending the security bill and lifting the ban on the right to collective self-defense......
