    I definitely wouldn't call him a hero, but he seems contrite and to have made peace with his past, and is genuinely honest, especially about advice to not follow what he did. Great interview.

    -Did he do any time?
    -He was on trial, but he disappeared, nobody knows what happened to him.
    -You don't either?
    -Yea, I do...
    That was the best part.

    nobody said he was a positive influence to society but what he accomplished is truly an amazing feat. You can't deny that when it comes to his marketing and entrepreneurial skills he really was a step ahead of the competition. I do agree with you that putting him on a pedestal is some what laughable, but lets face it, he is the poster boy of free enterprise and the American dream.

  • @KingRell94
    @KingRell94 15 лет назад +1

    I'm going by what he said. In several interviews he said he only put the cops behind bars because they basically stole every cent from him. However, in the movie it showed him giving up the cops too, but he offered giving up the crime figures and gangsters.

  • @Life4music

    A great interview.. The guy should not be glorified by any means.. cos the ammount of evil he spread during his hay day is unforgivable..but it also takes great courage to admit to the wrongs he did and the message is "I REGRTET it"..."KIDS GET OFF THE STREET and GO TO SCHOOL"..thts is respect!

    How this guy, regardless of his contributions is not in prison is beyond me. He served more time for his second arrest for pure posession than he did for his criminal enterprises. I would never give this man the time of day. But hey, in today's society it's cool to glorify felons. Tells ya how much the world is screwed up right now.

    Bad, Bad Leroy Barnes
    His friends claimed he was just a wealthy real estate investor. Police contended he was the biggest heroin dealer in New York City, maybe in the country. To blacks in his old Harlem neighborhood, ("Nicky") Barnes, 45, was a legend of defiance and success. What he had he flaunted, and he had a great deal: 300 custom-tailored suits, a string of glamourous women and powerful friends in show business and politics. He drove two Citroën-Maseratis and four Mercedes.
    FLASHY!!!!

  • @myrtilusgames
    @myrtilusgames 17 лет назад

    Perhaps i generalized it too much, I apologize. But to a lot of black people this man is a hero. I hear it a lot -- the reason being was because he was one of the first black people in America under the 'new age' to be extremely wealthy and powerful and people look up to this. But thats not to say it applies to everyone such as yourself. Just something I seem to hear alot thats all.

    Well... I went to inner-city public schools in Chicago, but it doesn't mean you can't succeed. You can succeed regardless of the obstacles if you're strong (and wise) enough. Need good male role models though, but all we see now are rappers and athletes. I ended up earning a Ph.D., but there were those in my hood who ended up getting killed or are pushing a broom... or pushing drugs. Most of us did well though.

    Anytime a gangstar is old school and shows a softer side taking care of his kids, everyone wants to stick up for him - do you think destroying all those lives was the right thing to do? This is a little different than selling dime bags of pot - this is large scale introduction of one of most addictive substances known to man

  • @almodu

    That is true. You cannot judge Frank Lucas, but the truth is that lifestyle he lived was dangerous. Plain and simple. If I am hating by saying that Black people are capable of doing more than just drug dealing, whether it's small time or big time, then so be it.
