These Russian/soviet war songs will forever be my favorite genre of military themed music.
and so do i!
my grandpa introdused me to russian war songs, tsoi and basically all russian music from the 80's-90's and 2000's. Also my uncle served twice and has been both in ukraine and afghanistan during the wars. Sadly they both have passed , but I still remember them by who they are and were. The songs have a softspot in my heart because of them.
I think these songs shows our slavic reality
Me too
Yep same here comrade
When I was kid and saw footage of Russian soldiers in the Chechen war, it seemed to me that they were mature men who had gone through tough training and were ready for anything. Now I am 26 and I clearly see in these soldiers very young guys who were sitting at their desk yesterday, making plans for a just beginning life and perhaps quite recently kissed a girl for the first time. The blood runs cold...

I'll never forget those days, the big endless sorrow of Ossetian mothers who lost their innocent sons and daughters. I cry when I see footages of Chechen war and hear this kind of songs. @@シランドラ bad officers hide behind their men. seek comforts most of their men don't have (sleeping in a house while their troops sit in the mud), feed their men praise but don't push them to be good soldiers. a good commander understands the misery his troops go through and will share it with them and seek to alleviate that misery through hot rations, a vodka ration, cigerettes etc. in short: a good Kombat ensures that his men are well trained, well fed, and supported to the full extent he can muster in the assault.

I enlisted int the US Navy in 1985. I was trained as a radar operator and stationed on a Guided Missile Destroyer. One day I told my family that my ship was ordered to sea for a time . I kissed my mother and grandmother Goodbye , and sailed away . Some time later my ship returned to it's home port and I drove my car to my home town . When I saw my family again my grandmother said that she saw a television news story about the fighting off the coast of Libya . She saw a ship with the number 11 painted on the bow , and knew it was the ship I sailed on . Ships sailed , aircraft flew , bombs fell , and missiles were launched . All this occurred while being watched by radars on land and at sea .

@Joe Mama or the usa selling stinger to mujaheddin
This song and footage are from Chechnya in 90,s and early 2000 's not Afghanistan. This song was a favorite of my wife's family. Chechnya was tragic but not a lost cause like Afghanistan. In fact Russia eventually crushed Chechnya and it helped make a reputation for Putin.
This is absolutely not the case!
Russia has NOT lost the war in Afghanistan. She calmly and orderly left the country for political reasons. The Afghan regime worked autonomously for another 3 years, until Yeltsin betrayed Najibulu, refusing further supplies of food, fuel and spare parts for agricultural and military equipment to Afghanistan.
But in 10 years the Soviets have built in Afghanistan: civilian facilities, educational and cultural facilities, ALL the infrastructure that is still operating in Afghanistan. The Soviets also promoted democratic freedoms of citizens and the rights of women to study, work and live a civilized life. Now Afghans with bitterness admit that they have never lived as well as under the Soviets.
The United States in Vietnam suffered a shameful defeat and fled hastily. The Americans left in Vietnam the fields burned by napalm and strewn with anti-personnel mines, the burned, crippled Vietnamese and own trampled ambition. The last - this is thing Americans worry about the most in to songs!
We do have Napalm Sticks To Kids though which is. . . woof, that's a rough one.
@@HelenaRey Not sure if he's saying the Soviets lost their Afghan War, rather that it was a brutal slog for the soldiers who had to fight it, often times for confusing and arbitrary reasons, much like the experiences of many American soldiers who served in Vietnam.

@Agustan Not yet, but I soon hope that it will be, Zelensky should surrender. This war is just him throwing civilians at us now
@@whitiley I watched an interview of people in Eastern Ukraine. Many are very angry at their army for setting up in civilian areas, including in residential areas and schools. I’m paraphrasing here, but one of the old ladies interviewed said this: “The military positions itself in the apartment building and attacks Russians. Then they run for the basement and we do too, because the soldiers are probably running to the basement for a good reason.”
Of course this is then spun into propaganda in the western media… “Russia is targeting civilians” or “Russia bombed a school” or my favorite, “Russia bombed a theater with the word children written on the roof” (as if a Russian pilot or artillery operator can see what’s written on the roof from 20 miles away).
The Ukrainian Army is too lightly armed to resist Russia in the open so it’s trying to make all operations into urban combat in areas still filled with people which effectively negates Russia’s advantage in artillery and tank warfare. Of course, civilians end up in the crossfire, but for Ukraine any dead civilians are a propaganda victory anyways.
In Mariupol, Ukraine’s Nazi battalion Azov has been confiscating all relief shipments for their use which has led Russia to preventing the shipments from reaching the city. Azov members have also been dressing up as civilians and attempting to sneak out of the city or behind Russian lines, which is why Russia has had to repeatedly shut down escape corridors out of Mariupol.
It’s been frustrating to see Russia going from trying to avoid all civilian casualties possible (and still the media saying it was targeting civilians) in the first two weeks of the war to having to attack Ukrainian positions in cities and cause collateral damage because of Ukraine’s meat shield tactics.
Zelensky is going to defend his presidency to the last Ukrainian, and it’s sad to watch and even sadder that he’s being praised for it.
@@QualityPen Yeah the Ukrainian army have been fighting incredibly dirty, almost like terrorists - with no regard for their own civilian losses. Regarding Zelensky, the US is telling him what to do, he’s nothing more than a puppet.

No matter the culture, Music is always good, whether you sing "Ain't I right?" or "freie deutsche jugend" to "Fuji o aoide" Music is just good.
This is the best all time " war song" no Army like the Russian Army! Not pretty but very effective. So much deep soul for comrades a d country! The best!
Love your comment.

This didn't age well 🤣

Lubeh lives in the village where my mother grew up. They knew each other. I'm going there asap. Mainly to see where mother grew up, but maybe she can let me meet Lubeh there.
You meet him?
@@kuantiun063 no, mother has(since they lived like a street away). mother left the town a few years after my brother was born. I plan on going there though, maybe I'll meet him them lol
2:03 ... This guy is 19 years old ... Where do I know from? Simple arithmetic. In Russia, they are drafted into the army (as in Israel for 2 years) from the age of 18, 6 months of training, the remaining 1.5 years of war ... You just look into the eyes of this teenager ...
who is rael?

One year.)))
Well its was likely footage from the first chechen war and during that war russia needed as many people as possible due to their initial assualt failing

Imagine just how many of those soldiers in this video are no longer alive by the time the war ended.
Agonija, war
What a waste of life... to die like an idiot. lied by the politicians and died for the politicians. Also died poor.
What a waste...
And after they are dead... no one gives a crap. Everyone goes home laughing, eating, drinking, sleeping, however never ever mention you again. Ad if u were garage...
Наши мужчины, спасибо вам...🖤🌹🌹🌹
The War is a matter of one's perspective. This rule also applies on how we see humanity. I'm sure the majority would choose the usual peace. But for me I never felt more alive experiencing both positive and negative things in life.
Всегда мурашки по коже
War is war indeed, but I swear to God this song make me feel like a soldier on the frontline
Как мне приятно смотреть на иностранцев, которые слушают русскую музыку

It takes huge courage to be in a real war, knowing you could be dead at any point in time!!
My respect to both Russians and Ukranians! Hope this gets resolved soon! Brotherly nations should get along much better, this is a shame! :(
Lyube has so many good songs
I will give a little clarity to foreign listeners, the word "kombat" in this case is not the literal meaning of this word. The word "kombat" in the Russian army is an abbreviation for the position "battalion commander"
В данном случае имеется ввиду командир батареи
from Tunisia slava Rassia May you give peace to this world

💯
Being fluent in both languages .. These translations could be a lot better. While they get the general meaning of the words across, there is far better phrasing to get a much better emotional interpretation. For example its not "Either shoot or get shot" its more like "you shoot or get killed" etc I'm not claiming to be the best translator. I'm sure someone can think of some idioms that fit and/or perhaps even make the translation rhyme in English. But just wish it was done better for none-russian speakers
Rewrite the lyrics, ngl I want to see what you will say about them
I agree - and this is something I've noticed across a number of so-called "translations". Verbatim translations from Russian to English lose the depth & intent of the original lyrics.
well in order to do a proper translation you need to have the experience.
As for this translation for those whom have undergone combat we don't need a proper translation. We just listen understand and remember our stories.
The souls is in the song the word and no translation can capture that feeling unless you have been shoot or have to shoot someone. It is hard to say Hey I don't want to kill you but I have to killed you. So I would rather used shoot or be shoot instead of kill or be killed. One is softer the other one is well the truth right.
Really great work with the subtitles. Much appreciated. I realize its a war channel but u should really do Позови меня тихо по имени.
I have never been to war. From what I know about it, it is hell, but as usual, hell brings out the best in man, and I can only imagine how strong the brothership must be there, as it probably is the only thing keeping people sane in the head. Soldiers don't deserve to die... they sacrifice all and everything. Death seems unfair

LYRICS IN ENGLISH!
In war, like in war
Bullets, vodka and cheap cigarettes
In war, it's hard work
You either shoot, or be shot.
And in war, like in war
To my girlfriend, please remember me
And in war, it's always uncertain
It might be us, it might be them.
Commander, our father, our father commander!
You didn't hide behind the back of those guys,
Airplanes are flying and tanks are burning,
He strikes, the commander strikes!
Commander, our father, our father commander!
Behind us is Russia, Moscow and Arabat!
Fire troops, fire battalion!
Commander, yes, he commands!
Fire, artillery! Fire, battalion!
Fire, artillery! Fire, battalion!
Fire, artillery! Fire, battalion!
Fire, artillery! Fire, fire, fire, agony!
In war, like in war
Soldiers dream of their mothers
At war, it is so...
So much more serious than in the movies.
Yes, war- War, war
War is a stupid lady, she's a bitch!
Oh war, war goes on
And the girl waits for her boy.
Commander, our father, our father commander!!
You didn't hide behind the back of those guys!
Airplanes are flying and tanks are burning!
He strikes, the commander strikes!!
Commander, our father, our father commander!!
Behind us is Russia, Moscow and Arbat!!!
Fire troops, fire battalion!!
Commander, yes, he commands!!
Fire, artillery!! Fire, battalion!!
Fire, artillery!! Fire, battalion!!
Fire, artillery!! Fire, battalion!!
Fire, artillery!! Fire, fire, fire, agony!!
In war, like in war...
In war, like in war...
In war, like in war...
In war, like in war...
[please point out any mistakes i made, thank you.]
This song hits different now
How so? Unless you were brutally killed by Ukrainian nazis these last 9 years, what would you know...
Ultimately this song applies to war in general. The lost of live, the men and women not returning home, and the brutality that comes with it. Not just in Ukraine, but in all wars from the Americas to Africa to Asia.
Russian brothers, we have hard history, but many people in Poland understand yours situation with bandera ukrainians. Medias make strong propaganda in europe, and dont talk yours point of view.
