Rubber Sector Stumbles in Kerala Addressing Skill and Vendor Gaps

Kerala the largest Natural Rubber producer in India is struggling to produce high performance rubber products required for the public sectors in India. Railway, Indian Defense, Shipping and other public sectors require large volumes of high performance rubber products. Kerala is nether producing these challenging products nor producing qualified vendors. The complexity of rubber products is one of the reasons for not attracting the industrialists. But these issues can be very well addressed by establishing Skill and Vendor Development Centres in Kerala. A project proposal in this line is pending which if implemented can provide 2100 jobs for job seekers in addition to the contributions to the local economy.
