    Though it’s not the main point, I appreciate that he made clear that the person is expelled WITH THE HOPE AND DESIRE to bring him back in.
    Compared to other families/communities where the person is “considered dead” to the rest of the people, never to return. Gospel community is built different.

      Look if this is not the same happened to Adam and Eve..? It is like the Bible is a continuous parallele between big/general events that than are applicable alao to specific people or to us.
      The human being wasnt cast out from the garden of Heaven with the hope of our repent and came back? Still there we are.. Sadly even after the Lord came Himself to rescue us, we are still so much self comprises to do not beable to repent and follow...

      @@stefaniamirri1112 The flesh cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven. God made a sacrifice for Adam and Eve before he kicked them out of the Garden. He clothed them in the skin of an animal, which is a covering. That is what the blood of Christ does, is that it covers our sin with his righteousness, so that our nakedness is not seen. Even though we are saved, we all still need to die because the flesh is inherently sinful. Our hope is in the spirit not the flesh. Until God makes all things new and incorruptible, there will continue to be a cycle, even up to the end of the millennial kingdom when people will rebel against Christs rule even though they have seen God.

      The feeling is the sorrow and deep, abiding regret we should all learn to feel for our own sin that makes it necessary for the death penalty to fall on the guilty or on the sacrificial substitute in the first place. Even though it's pleasant for a season, sin is ugly and nasty business. It's end is always death. Praise God forever that He made Himself to be the final scape goat!

      no. you cannot lose your salvation. Saved, "born-again" people still sin in numerous ways. Baby Christians for example who still have a lot of the world's ideas. Mature believers can fall to temptation. King David sinned, but didn't lose his salvation. But God did not allow the child he had with Bathsheba to live. Sinning isn't losing salvation OR absolute perfection would be keeping it. Good grief!

    I was a Jehovah Witness and they practiced disfellowshipping baptized members who fell into practicing serious sins like sexual immorality. No one in the congregation would speak to this person or have any association with them until they stopped the behavior and demonstrated repentance. I'm not aware of this being done in other Churches. This practice is I believe mostly condemned in most of Christendom.

    • @nikloff1815
      @nikloff1815 9 месяцев назад +1

      If a person was disfellowshipped it would be announced at the ministry school meeting attended mostly by only JW members to inform them and they would be shunned by all members. The decision is made by a committee of Church elders after meeting usually several times with the person. Usually if the person was repentant and stopped practicing the sins they would be reproved instead of disfellowshipped and not shunned but would have privileges removed like going in the public ministry, commenting at meetings or having any other positions of responsibility at meetings. In either case the disfellowshipped or reproved member could make appeals periodically to the elders and or the elders may meet with the member to see if they were doing works like studying, attending meetings and were truly repentant recognizing the seriousness of their sins. If it was determined the member was repentant they would be reinstated and the members would immediately stop shunning them and welcome them back into fellowship. This could take significant time depending on the seriousness of the offense.

    • @Christine-vt5fi
      @Christine-vt5fi 9 месяцев назад

      @nikloff1815 Thankyou for your answer. If the person did not repent properly, did they get stalked and harassed by the community? Were their ruined and Could they still repent?

    • @nikloff1815
      @nikloff1815 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@Christine-vt5fi No they were just shunned by other members both at the Kingdom Hall or if they saw them in public. No one harassed them in any way. They just didn’t talk to them or acknowledge them. If a disfellowshipped person no longer attended meetings they could be gone for years and they could return at anytime express a desire to return to good standing and if after some time the elders felt they had shown true repentance then they could be reinstated and be in good standing again. They would announce at the meeting that the person was reinstated. The congregation would clap and at the end of the meeting people would congratulate, welcome them back and resume fellowship with them. Now if a member stopped attending meetings and were suspected of falling into practicing serious sin the elders may call on them and seek them out to address why they stopped going to meetings or if they have fallen into a a problem with sin. This could be harassment. Also there was a culture of reporting to the elders if someone witnessed another member engaging in what they would classify as serious sin. Like adultery, fornication, drug use, cigarette smoking, drunkenness…It’s a cult that uses fear, guilt, isolation, brainwashing and punishment to keep members under control.

    If anyone does hurt to God's Temple or corrupts it (with false doctrines) or destroys it, God will do hurt to him and bring him to the corruption of death and destroy him. Hebrews 13:9-14 KJVS
    [9] Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. [10] We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle. [11] For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. [12] Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. [13] Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. Dr. Heiser has many brilliant insights, but "the church is the new Israel" is simply false. Israel is fallen (Romans 11:11), we are the Body of Christ, a new creation made in Jesus Christ during Israel's fall. We are not a nation to rule the other nations (Deuteronomy 15:6 You will rule over many nations but none will rule over you.), we are a spiritual body made to sit in heavenly places and judge angels (Ephesians 1, 1 Corinthians 6:2-6). Israel is God's means to have dominion over the earth, the Body of Christ is God's means to have dominion over the heavens. How did Heiser miss this?

    I am Greek. It's pretty clear that Paul is telling them to pray with one heart and voice to God so that He will allow satan to effect the body of the guilty man with pain, sickness, disease, so that he may repent and stop his sin; if he didn't he would eventually die and end up in hell. This is a measure to protect the Church, give it an example to follow via participation in this measure for a member of the Body, and to help the man repent and not lose/forfit his salvation.
    There is no other meaning to the passage.
    Remember, 1)God gave Saul a demon so that he be tormented.
    2)Apostle Paul himself had an angel of satan punching him (I personally knew a brother that had the same thing...Yep.)
    --It makes sense, that Paul having such experience with a demon given to keep him in sanctification, would see such a measure something useful for other brethren as well. Think about it.

    I find that "new Israel" description troubling. Based on what I've heard from Dr. Heiser so far, he doesn't appear to be an advocate for replacement theology. I would expect him to say the Church is the new Temple, and his exegesis would be able to flow from that in the same way. Clearly, based on Romans 11, the Church is grafted into Israel, rather than a new Israel. However, we are the Temple of God per I Corinthians 3:17.

      Replacement theology ?

    • @Unknown2Yoo
      @Unknown2Yoo 3 года назад

      @@jsharp9735 Yes, it's the doctrine that the Church has replaced Israel in God's prophetic plan and purposes, and from Jesus on any mention of Israel is actually speaking of the Church. This is false because the Church is grafted in (and can be cut out), not taken instead of the natural branches, and the "natural branches" may still be added to the tree again (see Romans 11). Additionally, God has many promises yet to be fulfilled that are directly to Israel, and he would be a liar not to fulfil them. In short, in order to maintain his integrity and be a God worthy of worship, the Church and Israel must be separate entities, and God must have a plan for one individually. Paul only said to deliver them to Satan because they were "boasting" openly about the license they took in the newfound freedom that Christ gave them. Which as Paul said was causing those weaker in the faith to stumble and fall away. And being delivered unto satan just meant to have the protection of the Church and the Spirit of God that surrounded it and protected it from the destruction of Satan, to be withdrawn from this mother and son. The key reference for my opinion. "Keep your belief about such matters between yourself and God" Romans 14: 13-22 By the way. Wasn't Paul himself delivered unto Satan when he was killed? Don't we all still die at the hand of Satan? For which we receive a greater part of the inheritance of Christ.
