Official video for "California" for The Lil Smokies. Enjoy!
Teeth stained red from a dark cabernet
As I watched the sun fade along Half Moon Bay
California, still holding your hand
Farmland, fruit stands, and cows by the sea
Highway 1 curves around like the rings of a tree
California, still holding your hand
Please remember
Don't you dare forget
Please remember
Don't you dare forget
I can't remember what you even look like
but I think I may have seen you in a dream last night
California, still holding your hand
One too many lead me back on the road,
it took me four states and one day to drive back home
California, still holding your hand
Please remember
Don't you dare forget
Please remember
Don't you dare forget
Like the orchard and ashes and dust
trees and leaves are tended 'till the kin rusts
California, still holding your hand
Somewhere deep down there I wish you the best
Inside me somewhere I wish you happiness
California, still holding your hand
Please remember
Don't you dare forget
Please remember
Don't you dare forget

Montana band plays song about my home state. THIS is why the music of the USA is the best. We may be fighting like crazy on the national level but music will always unite us as a country. It is one the things the USA got right over the last 100 plus years.
amazing music!! I listen this in 2020 in Chile
This song is cookin’. TLS on fire.
Andy, you're channeling your dad when you sing. Love that.

Cool guys! Very! Greetings from Russia!!!
But but my name
I hate California but I love bluegrass. Such a contradiction. Why does California have to ruin America? Why does bluegrass gave to be such beautiful music?
Keith Rose if you’ve spent any real time in California then this statement means you hate the world. It has a bit of everything, all walks of life. Stop the hating...
Jealous?
@@brianlouks2496 jealous of what? Horrible liberal policies that have destroyed the state? Extremely high cost of living, taxes out the wazoo, homeless population increasing dramatically, shit and needles all over the streets, illegal aliens given priority over citizens?
This is a fine piece with strong bluegrass feels. The rhythm is great, the fiddle and dobro blend wonderfully, and the main vocals are good. But the whole thing lacks energy. The banjo player looks like he's played through this a million times, while the bassist and guitarist are barely moving. And it all feels very formal. The voice needs more pain, more rasp, more emotion, and the backing vocals are just lacking. Harmonics make and break bluegrass: either have a strong soaring falsetto, a crisp alto and possibly a bass; or have none at all. In contrast to the energyless backing, the voice resembles someone singing karaoke. Just my opinion and I'm no expert, but a fantastic piece nonetheless. :)
It's definitely not for lack of trying on their part I'm sure, none of this is easy ;)
Corey oh no that's difficult beyond belief. But it needs more energy
Go see them live, their energy is incredible on stage.
I disagree on the voice. The song is detached and clear because it is about missing a home place. A region. It works for me--in-between nostalgia and pain.
This is mostly because they are using a shotgun mic for all of them. If they were mic'd up better you would be able to hear the vocals more.
