Isn’t the whole thing about VPNs privacy? That VPN probably just steals your data while protecting it from others so they have all that money for themselves
@@AndyTheBoiz and that means, since there's no alternative to replace it, at some point video sharing and viewing is going to die off, at least for a time?
Google stadia wouldn't have worked. When you played a game, it wasn't playoed on your stadia console, it was streamed to your console from a google supercomputer. The delay of your controller imputs was very noticeable, and most people had problems rendering max graphics in triple-A games. Some problems could have been improved upon, like releasing customizeable controllers, or at least more than 3 controller colors (black, white, and a gender-neutral wasabi color) and ergonomically designing the controller to feel like a controller instead of a kitchen knife (the controller was designed after kitchen knives), but single problem with stadia is not having the player host their own game, which would have gotten rid of the imput delay.
Yeah yikes. I got 20gb of photos saved on mine over the years and I pay for One, but with Google Reaper killing more Google products I think I'll buckle up and just buy an external hard drive to save my photos
you never know, maybe the next application will make a trillion dollars without an advertising budget or any time to become ingrained in the public consciousness. they just have to keep spinning the slots
Fun fact got a google stadia for free for going to see jumanji 2 along side the game awards at my local theatre. Everyone in the theatre actually got one 100% free lol.
Honestly, I think they actually _did_ try with Stadia. It’s just that infrastructure of the internet is too much of a mess to support “cloud gaming.” A lot of ISPs rest on their laurels in areas they monopolized in, allowing their quality to be... less than stellar. (And also because Google is Google, but that‘s a whole other can of worms.)
Google mentality: oh our stocks are not increasing and -I- We decided that -I- We need to cut corners to not lose more profits -that we had enough already- .
I use a Google pixel. They did not kill the VPN, for pixel at least. They just disassociated it with google one, it's just called "VPN by Google" now. As for other phones that used google one's VPN I think it's gone now. Basically I think they wanted to kill it but it's a standard feature on every phone now so they just changed the form on Google pixel.
The problem with the VPN is that VPNs are so profitable to run that really they could have sold it separately for almost no money. They have such huge market share that they could have done it. What they should do is inflate the amount of money their ads are worth by just showing their own products in the place of ads during a time when there is a downturn in the ads market. This would still allow them to capture that value.
The VPN is actually still here. On my pixel 8 pro it used to say “VPN by Goode One” but it now says “VPN by Google”. Literally the exact same thing, just with the one removed.
Tried out Google Stadia when it was around as a test. And in general, I really liked the idea. Sure I didn't own any of the games they had on there - not that it is any different from now - but I also hadn't to install or download them or worry about whether or not my PC can run them. The performance was, for what it was, pretty good. There was some input lag here and there but if you played a singleplayer game it was barely noticable. Only downside of course was that if your internet sucked you couldn't play well/at all. BUT AGAIN, NOT MUCH DIFFERENT FROM STEAM OR ANY OTHER PLATFORM. I loved it and would have liked to see it grow.
At this point, we got Google proper, RUclips, Drive, Docs, (maybe the other office programs too idk), maps, everything else should be considered dead on arrival.

Google is faster to put stuff on the chopping block than Shonen Jump, and they basically have to do it because they have limited slots for different series! Google doesn't!
Even if it wasn't advertised or given enough time to mature, I highly doubt it would've blossomed into anything anyway. It's literally a VPN by Google. You know that it wouldn't be safe.
Problem with Stadia beside it was Linux without Proton framework, it was rushed system, after Stadia was closed they tried to sell technology to other companies but it was so hard to work with that, that no one have interest. Literally no one wants to using that thing at all. Acording to programers worked on that they told to Google that they need atleast 2 more years to finish that (Google wanted to make whole thing in 1,5 year). Also Google tough that games will be no required to buy but that all will in the subscription (some was but very few). That all failed and we see how that ended.
Google's VPN is available if you have a Pixel 8 or higher. I suspect they'll keep pushing the minimum requirement up every few years.
