P.S - After a night of being sick and shivering, I went to the doctors, and, yes, it was infected ( badly ). After some strong antibiotics and painkillers I’m on the mend again! Now I look back at this video I can see how unwell I was! Thanks for all the kindness - Feel free to follow my Instagram @oyelectrical to keep up with what’s going on! 😎
Good thing you went to get it checked early. Same thing happened to my foot and I got sepsis, the doctor told me that I was hours away from needing an amputation.
Thank goodness for that Cory, glad you're better, that sounds like a close call. Look after yourself, getting treatment quickly will save you time and money down the road...so will wearing PPE in a loft! 👍 I'm too old for learning to Instagram but I can manage to follow you on here.😅
I once had horrendous infected blisters on both feet after a half marathon which I failed to prepare for. Blisters started at the 2 mile point and by the end of the 13+ miles the blisters had blistered again, like two layers of blisters and had burst and started bleeding. It was a real horror show and got worse over the next few days before gradually getting better. I probably should have gone to my Doctor but didn’t, which probably extended my discomfort by a few days. In your case you probably got some nasty pathogens into the wound right from the time of injury so much more serious. I just had sock fluff and sweat to deal with. Anyway, glad you’re okay now and avoided sepsis or any permanent damage.
A little update, it turns out it WAS infected 😂 ( quite badly ). After some strong antibiotics and pain killers, I’m on the mend. Thanks so much for the kind words and messages! Now looking back on this video I can see how grey and unwell I looked! If you wanna keep up to date on all things ØY, follow me on Instagram @oyelectrical - lesson in life, don’t get bat poop into your cuts! 🦇 💩
Infections can get real nasty. There are some bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics too. You should keep a first aid kit in your van. Clean and disinfect any cuts or injuries right away. Don't give it the chance to get infected. By the way, besides the antibiotics, you should talk to your doctor about getting a tetanus jab too. To be on the safe side.
Thanks for the install Cory. We're loving the system so far and absolutely glued to the app. Glad the ankle is on the mend and you didn't loose your foot 😅 Footage is incredible and awesome to have to remember the process. Cheers mate
Tip for you if you ever get injuries like that again, you can get really large plasters, use that to cover it, if its near a joint then cut triangles out the sides of it near the middle of the plaster to allow it to bend so if your finger was out straight the thin section should be near your nuckle, the thick parts wrap around the front and back of your finger. Any time you feel thumping, you need to get it checked, its almost always a sign of a severe infection. If you see discharge you should try and clean it away with something clean and try and drain it. Antiseptic spray is always handy to keep in the car but I would say, especially if your on your own or the only person who is there with first aid its useful to keep a first aid kit in your car / van Sterile gauze and a dressing can help it quite a lot especially if you've managed to clean it up.
Yep, I can second that about the Australian roof space. You can only spend a few minutes up there during summer, the heat is brutal. And the spiders will eat you if the heat does not get to you.
A year ago I cut my finger off...was back to work in a week because of the pressure of being self employed. Keep your head up Cory, these things happen
Hi Cory your comments about installing the inverter into the roof spaces and that there's no issue about the heat etc in the lofts just check your public liability insurance for installing into a loft space I'm with Hiscox and they're not insuring any solar PV if the inverter is in the roof space after a few new builds has gone up in flames. as we all know a few cowboy installs especially on new builds ruin it for the professional installations who do the job right, just check your public liability and professional indemnity insurance that your covered.
Feel your pain buddy but the videos must carry on,,,,,,, been haveing treatment so that’s why I am catching up on your videos which help me a lot thanks again for all. Woody
So I'm just getting around to watching this and was reminded of a previous job where, written into the contract was a clause that said "you should not participate in activities that may cause you to miss work due to injury" or words to that effect Get well soon 👍
Hope you get better soon! Very nice install with the inverter mounted on a solid board. I plan to do similar with my own install. But only the overvoltage protection box in the loft. In the oft I would have used PVC-conduit for the PV cables. Those clips don't look that neat and you have + and - close together....
Cory you need income protection! Anyone self employed should consider this. Love your videos, and my team would love to get you covered! Give me a shout.
Please tell us what boots they are please...? I hate laces so uae dockers but are a bit tight getting them on and off quickly, these ones with a zip would be perfect! Cheers, also excellent idea using the EV Ultra for Solar - mind if I nab that idea?
Your latest video was very informative and interesting to watch, thanks for uploading. I’m not an electrician but I enjoy watching electrical work. Followed you from Artisan.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a loft in Australia and have never seen an inverter installed in any other place than an outside wall by a switchboard. But maybe I’m too busy just counting all my excessive sparky wages?? What are your thoughts on peleton? Looks alright, but is it worth it?
Came here to say this. In australia, I believe attic mounted installs aren't allowed, they wouldn't meet requirements for easy inspection/testing/maintenance (our loft spaces being typically BYO ladder) and they would definitely not be temperature friendly, feels like a fire waiting to happen.
Was bit confused at first, saw u on the other channel then here but now I understand, after 10m watching some videos 🤭. Will follow you steps G. Keep it up. 1 extra follower here 😉🤭🤘👌
Great content even thought you was Badly, l really enjoy watching & Learning Especially on Solar, My boss Tommy is starting to install them, It’s really interesting and great to have more knowledge on other parts of electrics.. and Thanks for showing the Milwaukee M12 Impact Driver great bit of kit i’ll be picking one up soon , Thanks ⚡️👊
You put your face into insulation, all while taking deep breaths in so you could shout, all without a mask! You brave man haha. I hope you recovered from that one (and learnt too!).
"You keep using that word, I don't think it means what you think it means". Modbus is a protocol, not a thing. What you probably are using is a energy meter that connects via modbus. Modbus is a protocol used for connecting things together, mainly in the marine environment, like GPS, radar, and...hey...battery chargers and inverters. Wierd coinicidence? Nope. :D It's like saying "I'm installing a USB" - similarly meaningless to "I'm installing a modbus".
nicely done cory snd co 😊 as for that foot, you need medical attention quick! sounds infected! you need antibiotics and probably a tetanus jab too! time is money BUT if you cant work due to that injury then you loose out on both! good vid tho! the inverter board looks awesome 😊
I feel for you mate, you have to suck it up to earn $$$$ can I ask mate how did you get this backing song without copyright strike. Seen few youtubers do it and wondering. Hope you get better soon. Much ❤❤❤
1:33 - I have to say that I am shocked how poor that roof work is. Why are you leaving the tiles all over the place instead of using flashing kits? The only one that looked flush was the one you filmed a close up on.
The method used is MCS approved and I see it done like this all the time and have seen it this way for years with no issues. Looked completely fine to me. Very easy to judge from an armchair
@@jk-8761 I am not sure what my armchair has to do with is but as you asked, it is a very nice reclining armchair. I didn't opt for the drink holder as I have a small table next to me. However if I could change one thing it would be adding the drink holder. Anyway back to the point in hand. A flashing kit would give you a much better finish in my opinion. It is what I use on my installs when I am not in my very nice reclining armchair. P.S the MCS assessor I had last year would have failed us for that. He was NOT a fan of tiled just being laid over the roof hook. These tiles are too thin to grind out. That is why a flashing kit is needed.
I’ve learnt the hard way with being self employed, been off for near 6 months now with a torn ACL through sport, currently on the mend after finally getting an operation but the process of horrendously long, so anyone that has been through the same as a self employed person I salute you👏🏼
Cory, I'm no one of your family or close friends to give you a spite, but as someone older than you I have to say that in this video you were totally irresponsible against your health in 2 occasions. Not using a mask while working with your head in insulation and not taking care of that feet when you saw that colour of the liquid through the patch (who was a clear indication of an infection). You are currently working for yourself, you should take care of yourself the same way you are professional and with attention to details and good work. Imagine you had to be amputated? How hard it would be to then do the work you love so much when loosing a feet, and not only that how that would affect your own mental health (I had a family member who suffered an amputation because of an accident and I know how hard and how much treatment he took to mentally coup with that, together with family worry). Never but never in any occasion do that again. Your body is the same as the tools you use, they are what puts you money on the table, the same way you clean and maintain your tools, you should do the same with your body. Again as I said, I'm no one to say absolutamente anything, but I wish you the best recoveries and that this situation made you think different from now on. Not working some days and cancelling some projects because you need to take treatment is better than forcing yourself and probably later date go into something that could cause you a bigger leave or even a percentage of disability that affects your life forever (not saying that disability people are not capable as others mind it, because they are, but it affects everything).
Greeeeeat footage mate, excuse the pun, but you real should take injuries in a dark cave more seriously buddy, you could of got septicemia i.e. likely symptoms: loss of consciousness severe breathlessness a high temperature (fever) or low body temperature a change in mental state - like confusion or disorientation slurred speech cold, clammy and pale or mottled skin a fast heartbeat fast breathing chills and shivering severe muscle pain feeling dizzy or faint, and you where working on a roof!

12:04 Modbus is just a protocol over a differential physical layer, not an object/device. The device is an energy meter.
Sorry for your pain, Cory. The video definitely did NOT suck. It was very interesting. Thanks.

That leg is infected. Get it checked out.
Glad you're getting better Cory, yeah infections are hell... Self employed + sickness = stress ahh... 🤗
So true 😞
You’ve got that down to a bit of an art now, 15 panels battery, and the wiring in 1 day.

Yes, definitely not smart 🤦♂️
Lesson learned and lost masks re ordered
I hope you're on the mend. What anti-bird measures did you take with the solar panels? I fully expected you to use skirt like Artisan do.
This customer opted for black colour coded bird meshing 😎
The solar skirt is very expensive and some customers aren’t a fan of the de-rating with slowing ventilation behind the panels
It doesn’t suck! We love watching you suffer. More please 😊

How do meter readers get the readings in the UK? Do they need access into the property?
Some of us get ripped off by “smart” meters in the uk save the analogue disc 😂
