      When they see the Starks in visions, they see an animal. Aeron sees euron as mix of kraken and himself, I think it'll be some Lovecraft transformation. He is kinda doing some kind of blood ritual. Holy blood, his unborn child, his own people, and his enemies.

    The duality of ice and fire makes sense. Rather than basing his work on the tradition good vs. evil plot, the driver of Ice and Fire (the books) is, well, based on the conflict of ice vs. fire. But why are blood and steel so important? I think they are the two primary means of legitimizing rule in our story. Steel being military might and blood being royalty and inheritance. So Ice, Fire, Blood and Steel encompass all the elements of the story; natural balance and its relation to man’s rule over man.

      What people seem to miss with Ice and Fire is that they also represent the past and future respectively in the story.
      Ice is about the past. The past is preserved like how Ice keeps food alive for longer. The Others also use corpses and the North is filled with ancient traditions and knowledge.
      Fire is about the future, which is why the fire priests can see it in their flames. Fire is wild and unpredictable, like the future.
      Ice + Fire = The Present sandwiched between.

      Symbolically it's an awesome idea, but Krakens are basically giant/colossal squids and those actually have the largest eyes of any living creature, which allows them to see better in the darknes of the deep ocean and be among themost bestest of the predators... Also they are like any other cephalopods and have organs called statocyst, to sense orientation and motion in water. Sorry mate

    About how Euron could possibly survive the Battle of Blood himself if he's gonna summon loads of krakens to the surface: when Daenerys miraculously survived stepping into a funeral pyre, she had the godswife Mirri Maz Duur tied to the pyre praying for her life. Euron has a whole posse of priests tied to his ships praying for their lives. Euron has also been to Asshai, where (it seems) the oldest Azor Ahai prophecies originate from. Perhaps Euron found something in ancient scrolls in Asshai that gave him this crazy kraken idea?

    • @bierwolf8360
      @bierwolf8360 2 года назад

      Possibly. It might include a certain something that has been hidden inside the lowest structure on Battle Isle. One that was hidden by decree of the Old Gods after the first Long Night and guarded ever since by the descendants of Ulthar, or Uthor, to prevent the monstrosities from reemerging. Yet Euron knows it's there. The black stone that fell from the stars, the one the Bloodstone Emperor found. The center piece of the Church of the Starry Wisdom. The artifact with which to call upon the Faceless God, the God of a thousand form, to gain forbidden arcane knowledge in exchange for blood. And with and the Horn of Winter, the Old Ones can be awoken.

      @@bierwolf8360 So you think Euron is somehow aligned with or a proxy for The Others? Interesting thought but I think the Starks are in line with The Others and Euron is trying to mimic the Bloodstone Emperor/Gray King but will fail in his attempts. I think The Great Other is the Nyorlatotep and he's imprisoned deep under Winterfell's crypts. He was the one who came to Euron in his falling dream and I believe he also has a role with Bloodraven/Bran's dreams as well. He is playing all sides to bring about this story's version of Ragnarok. Young Griff will end up marrying Dany and when she turns mad he will plunge his sword into her heart thus fulfilling the BSE/usurper legend and the Azor Ahai/burning red sword prophecy which are one and the same. Then he and the Starks/Others battle for the Dawn. No side is wholly good or bad, its just war and everyone loses.

    You mist one more pork reference: "salted here and there with fishing boats". Salting is one of the ways to preserve pork and salted pork was very popular among European sailors for centuries. If your theory holds it's definitely one more reference- Euron looks at the fleet and thinks of it in terms of prepared pork.

    This is an older video, but it's also worth pointing out that there are additional parallels to the Battle of Ice. Particularly Stannis' plan to use his inferior numbers to bait the Boltons into attacking him over a frozen lake.
    Drowning may be a strong thematic element between the 4 battles.

    I was listening to the audiobookfor aSoS recently and Salladhor Saan said something about a supposed horn that lord Celtigar had that could summon krakens from the deep.
    "...and a magic horn to summon krakens from the deep. Very useful such a horn would be, to pull down Tyroshi and other vexing creatures."
    Salla never gets this horn because Davos convinces Stannis not to attack Claw Isle, but the mention of it is in the very chapter that Stannis learns of Balon's death and Euron's attempt at seizing the Seastone Chair.

Malora is said to be crazy and receive vision, and it is said that her father start consulting with her when Euron takes the shield. Is she also a greenseer level telepath and is picking up Euron's vision. How much do the Hightower know? Maybe Leyton took it seriously and is building anti-kraken ships or Malora can try to turn the krakens against Euron. Anyway, it will be interesting come AWoW.

    Tinfoil guess: I think Aeron will skinchange a kraken, realize it after Euron has already won the battle and consider sinking the silence. I believe he'll decline and slip out of the kraken's skin, because he's a coward. So Euron will think Aeron did everything he wanted and be unaware of the secret power he has and the climax of the Aeron story will be Aeron finally standing up to Euron, possibly when it's far too late.

That's really off the charts even for a GOT villain, Euron starting to make Ramsey look like a sissy. As the author suggest, the blue warlock wine has turned Euron into a mad-man and there's bound to be all kinds of horror and brutality in the Ironman chapters, when Winds of winter comes out in either one or 25 years that is.

    My theory: if everything indicates that Euron will be defeated, it's because Euron *wants* to be defeated, and the Iroborn forces annihilated. I believe he also sent Victarion on a suicide mission, hoping he and his forces will be annihilited as well. I believe he's in league with the Others, trying to weaken human resistance before their assault (in this case, he's weakening the Ironborn and the Reach, maybe hoping that krakens will come and cause as much damage as possible to both sides), just like Littlefinger is weakening the Vale (and possibly the Riverlands), Ramsay is further weakening the North, and Cersei has been f*cking up the entire realm (well, I guess that's just because she's crazy).

    • @dakotaadams189
      @dakotaadams189 Год назад

      Less "in league with" than "using" Euron is a wizard accelerationist who sees the Others the same way white supremacists see the chaos global warming could cause: An opportunity., he wants to end the world by any means at hand so he can ascend and become the god of the next world. He doesn't have to be working with the Others to go nuts (Oldtown has a fuckload of hidden magic contained by the maesters and he may simply be planning to burn it all and try to start a Magic Chernobyl), but they could prove convenient and either way the Ironborn are expendable. The analogy to Ramsay, Petyr, and Cersei is pretty spot on thought, they're all agents of chaos destroying everything in the face of an existential threat to humanity (the others) in an attempt to climb the chaos ladder and gain power. Euron is just crazier, more honest, and doing it BIG.

    I saw In Deep Geek’s take where he theorized that Euron will use the battle as a massive sacrifice to enact a magical ritual to use Dragonbinder to enthrall the dragons to him, though it won’t completely succeed. He’ll probably get just Viserion. But perhaps Preston and Robert are both right. After all, both scenarios only help Euron. Not only would summoning krakens help seal a victory and ensure him navel superiority, but it would further enshrine his forces to him and make him look like a god.

    • @bierwolf8360
      @bierwolf8360 2 года назад

      I think not. The blood ritual is there to lure krakens, yes, but moreso, everything else that dwells beneath. The Deep Ones. Hybrids of humans and monsters from the deep, they are mentionend in several instances and we actually might see their on-land version often (they become even more fishy in the water, generally). They will come and sack Oldtown, allowing Euron, posessed by Nyarlathotep as he is, to gain the horn of Winter and the black stone that was once found by the Bloodstone Emperor - the founder of the Church of Starry Wisdom which worshipps Nyarlathotep. With them, Euron can awaken the Old Ones and likely break the walls magic. The Others will free Nyarlathotep from his imprisonment in that cave, where he is held by the magic of the Children of the Forest. Thereafter, they'll free Chaos itself from the crypts of Winterfell - if they succeed. Azathoth. I mean, Euron does not even currently have dragonbinder. It's with Victarion.

    There's also a decent amount of similarities here to another historical sea battle. The battle of Salamis between the Greek alliance and the larger Persian fleet when they attacked the bigger force within a narrow channel. The larger Persian fleet couldn't maneuver well there and the Greeks somehow picked them off one by one.
    The Persians tried to block off the ends of the strait with their ships but it didn't matter because logistically they had issues communicating orders to their larger fleet to act in a coordinated manner whereas the smaller Greek fleet was landing more effective precision strikes.
    Thematically the battle of Salamis makes sense if they are going for a crushing defeat of a superior naval force.

    Theory: Crows eye thinks his brother have magic abilities and feed him with meat from priests of other cultures to awaken his power. He is also torturing, making him crave death and his drown god. Maybe he think that once pushed far enough, Aeron will summon the krakken? A desperate way for an underdog to win.

    We know that George uses sigils to foreshadow upcoming battles. For example, I noticed that house bar emmon's sigil (a trapped swordfish) foreshadows that house bar emmon's ship, the swordfish, gets trapped in the battle of the blackwater and pierces (like a swordfish) a hulk filled with wildfire. Since the battle of blood mirrors the battle of the blackwater we could also expect a piercer here, but one that releases blood instead of wildfire. And what house lies right next to the battle? House Bulwer, whose sigil is a bull's (piercing animal) skull (they will die) with it's background being *blood*.

    Are Krakens instruments of the Drowned God's will? If so, perhaps keeping A A Ron alive (and strapped to the prow of his ship) is in order to use him as a sort of shield to keep the Krakens from eating Euron's ship? I can't see Krakens as being in the thrall of the storm god, as why then would the Iron Born use it as their sigil? If so they'd use a dead, or chained kraken to show their lack of fear and dominance over the storm god.

  • @originalhgc
    @originalhgc 6 лет назад +3

    Euron's need for Aeron's "holy blood" is not about attracting krakens to the surface. Aeron is just one man. His few pints of blood, among thousands needed to attract krakens, wouldn't be significant. No, Euron is saving Aeron and a motley collection of other holy men for some other purpose. Just because Euron said that "all gods are lies" doesn't mean that he has no religious belief, especially in himself as a god. He meant literally that he wants Aeron's holy blood because it's somehow useful because of who Aeron is.

    I think the kraken just speaks of Euron. He's probably going to lure an attack on the south of the strait after he's already attacked the north with his missing ships. Then use the higher number of war ships to destroy the southern fleet. The blood in the water just means a massive battle.

    I'm surprised you didn't pick up on Aeron being dragged by the arms by two of Euron's soldiers bearing him like a cross up a flight of stairs, his feet hitting every step. Aeron will be strapped to the front of Euron's ship, Silence and because he is "The Prophet" the Krakens will not attack Euron's ship. He even looks like Jesus and his first ever chapter in AFFC is called "The Prophet". Pretty significant Jesus imagery. That is why he won't be attacked by Krakens.
