sorry to say my dear friend, according to my calculations your calculations are too partial towards germany since you passionately moved there.
I can get rent in Singapore @ $750/month too in a decent conto based on HBD, Conto, Seperate house it can vary
Gym fees varies around $60-100 and if living in conto no gym fees

I think that come from two factor
She did not have experience renting in Singapore && Property guru are usually overpriced by agent and renting out whole unit. Not really think she is bais on that, HDB in Singapore are rented to family > Individual.
Room only will definitely cheaper (400-1200 Probably)

Somehow i thought living in Europe someone would save more because groceries are expensive is Singapore and people generally do not cook at home whereas people home cook in Europe

Love the analysis! However, I think that CPF (both employer and employee contributions) should be regarded as savings in Singapore. That would tilt the balance in the favour of Singapore over Germany

Hello Gauri, thank you for great summary and video 🥰 For me as a software engineer from Turkey, I have recognized that saving money is challenging when we pay rental all over the world.I have tried this in Poland too. More than %65 of my salary spend for rental, when I pay my rental I am out of money. Sometimes salary and work challenge is needed for motivation and I am providing information to my HR about my rental prices. Nobody cares about it. One of the HR manager told that only max %25 should spend for rental but real world is not. When I told them this calculation output, I am laid off :). Actually if I have to pay my %80 salary in order to come office, how can I productive? :D

Wow 65% seems ALOT! But you're right, it's very hard to find a decent place for 25% of salary sadly

A mid level engineer earns around $10k SGD base per month. Glassdoor isn't accurate at all.

I think it depends on which company tho because i definitely know of people earning way lesser than that as even senior engineers
