Nah this title is insane lmao even Eminem one of the greatest lyricists of all time called Kendrick one of the greatest lyricists.
Different rappers excel at different things, the only way Kendrick is limited lyrically is if you arbitrarily define what good lyrics are to make that true.
He’s not the best at punchlines, Drake is better at that considering he comes from the Wayne school, but Kendrick’s lyrics have so much substance and depth, he’s an incredible story teller for that reason.
Story telling takes great lyricism.
That being said, we haven’t seen Kendrick tested in this type of rap setting. So we actually aren’t fully sure of his ability in this regard. He could be elite, and maybe we will find out
You dont have to downplay another artist just to elevate another. They both are dope, if you prefer Drake thats cool but you cant compare Kendrick to no damn Kyler Murray. Its really more of a Tom Brady/ Peyton Manning comparison

There's not a single Drake verse or even line that ever impressed me, which is interesting considering he gets help, but maybe that's because I just think his content is shallow.
I love his style, his music and also understand why he is such a big star, but I am really struggling to see why some people think he's got a chance. He's performing great so far, but it is still too shallow, too incongruous. Pressuring Kendrick to respond when he took 3 weeks to answer to a verse? Insane. Those are the kind of things that end up ruining anyone's arguments. The narrative has to make sense and be inline with the facts.

This is probably the best, nuanced breakdown that I’ve been trying to communicate regarding Kendrick. People are so enamored by his subject matte, concepts, and delivery that they overrate his technical rapping ability.
You ask someone to give a hard Kendrick bar and they have to give you half the verse for anything to really land. I’m a fan of Kendrick, but his own is not up there with Drake. Lyrically, he is the “conscious” rapper equivalent of 21 Savage.
