Actually, I think none of them really “broke” the rules for this challenge. Cause during secondary school, we don’t really pay for our own doctor fees, meals, buying toys for our family. Students simply buy recess meal that cost $5< then head home for lunch and dinner.

Back in 1994, I was a Sec 4 student, survived on $2/day. On some days I could save some shillings. Fast forward to 2021, I budget for my son who is in Sec 4 - $8/day (on most days he has 2 recess). On stretch days where he has remedial/CCA, I will give him a bit more.
Inflation is a scary thing, especially since its exponential. 20-30 years down the road and prices will likely triple, imagine paying $6 for a train ride or $10 for hawker chicken rice...

On weekends maybe I will go to the mall and I will spend like $8 of my money on bubble tea and then I will save up the rest of my money and use it like once a month to buy clothes or to go out and do things with friends. I’m jealous that they have so much money that they can spend on fun things as a teenager.

It made me learn how to save my money/ spend on things I only need as I have to pay for everything myself and not rely on my parents.

My sec sch was 2008-2011 and my mum just gave me $60/week for allowance in general. I try to save the $10 and only break the $50 note 😅

@@gawd_jihyo Oh you're right... My parents only counted weekdays, cuz I'm supposed to be at home on weekends hahaha~~~ And I had some school canteen vouchers worth $5 each week to make up the $12.50... I only remembered the cash portion XD
