What an amazing and sad story. To be an outcast and labeled a Witch just for being different and educated! That must have been a lonely life, but she remained kind to others AND even armed herself to help defend Sleepy Hollow! I am happy to hear that she will be remembered as the True Bad Arse of her time. History is important - we can learn from the past and not repeat the bad and continue on with the good.
Hulda was buried in a church graveyard, so she must have been a member there and most likely gave tithes too or they would not allow her body there at all. She sounds like a generous and lovely woman. That little church is so cute and I love how the pews are painted. It is set up a little like my own (a Mennonite church). It was interesting to learn this story, as I have read the Legend of Sleepy Hollow before. Carla and Keyes seem like a lovely pair. I love the walk you took. I should visit Sleepy Hollow sometime! It is only an hour and fifteen minutes from where I live. Great video. I had fun watching.
Very charming video. I love that Carla & Keyes describe themselves as history nerds because I’m one too! Such an interesting story about Hulda. Thanks for sharing.
I Loved the apple story, I think I have heard that before, I cried though, I sat here on a stormy overcast day and got really immersed in the story and my Mom used to read to us as kids, she read us "Heidi", "Little Women" I feel in love with books, story telling, Fairy Tales then and I always wanted to do what she does, tell stories, be a tour guide, here and there I get to do things and we are doing a book path for Halloween for the Children at the Hospital I work at, first year doing it, I volunteered to be " Little Red Riding Hood" and I got it, I'm more excited than my work place will ever know, this is my happy place, even if it is just small, I am kind of quiet, but I come alive when I get to be these characters. I get the whole being nice to people when they are hateful toward you as well, that is my nature, we may not be best friends, but if you are sick I am there hoping you feel better, if you are hurt, my heart hurts for you, unfortunately in my case I get taken advantage over it, but I guess if someone feels better at least I tried.
Thank you for taking the time to share this with us! :) Nice that you volunteered as Little Red Ridign Hood. I bet you were really good as her. Fairytales are so much fun! :)
This was such a beautiful and intriguing video and story. It was so mesmerizing to hear the story brought to life. Thank you Lindsay, Jonas, Carla, and Keyes for such great storytelling. I can't wait for your next video!!
I visited Irving's home/museum on the Hudson. It's a must see when visiting Tarrytown...🍂 Thank you. What a splendid performance! Carla is a gifted storyteller.
Irving's home is really beautiful. Glad you could visit it. We appreciate that you enjoyed our video, and we totally agree that Carla and Keyes are super gifted in what they are doing! :)
Incredibly creative, informative, and whimsical video. I loved learning about Hulda and her sacrifice and am glad she is now getting the recognition she deserves ❤
Love how she told story and the guitar music to it was so perfect. One of parts they said, she could shot and bad ass. Reminds me of my great grama. My Nana came from PEI,Canada. She loved to read tea leafs. She couldn't wait for me to drink my tea and read them. I once told someone about, her. They said, she was a witch. I said, because she could do it. So all the women, of her passed ,Are WitchesThen yes. I just know it comes from far back relatives of hers. I just wish I asked her back then to teach me. I wish I talked to my older family back then. This woman takes about herbal packs, my great grama believe in herbal stuff for everything. I'm alive because of her. I came to visit her farm for another cousin wedding. Pouring rain out. A town Festival at our old Town fire department so we went. Well I got a very bad cold with very high temp. She got me in to bed . Made up some stuff of mustard green and other stuff. Put on my chest, and gave me something very hot to drink with it. It felt like Thousands of blankets on me. I must of pasted out because I remember waking up and the sun was coming out. I remember it was foggy, out . I looked out and saw my great grama going in to the Cemetery. She had a chair and flower's. I didn't know what she was doing and my mom came in the room . I asked, she told me . I so wish I asked her questions, because I never got to meet my great grandfather or my great Uncle. Both died before me.
Hello, Thank you, for this story. I never heard about, this woman just of heard of the headless horseman. Thank you for sharing, your stories of your beautiful little place, town. I need to someday come and see it
So glad you made this vid! Hit up the cemetery last Fall and someone from this historical society was collecting for the headstone restorations or something but she walked my friends and I to a couple of gravestones and told us some stories! I've been going to Sleepy Hollow for years and never heard of Hulda before last year. Sounds like she was a good woman and glad her story is being told. Great job, All!
Thank you for sharing this piece of history and introducing us to Hulda and Abigail. The forest looks both peaceful and haunted with restless spirits. The stories the trees must hold.😔
I used to live down the street from the Cemetery right on Broadway across from the high school. it's so cool you guys are reviving the spirit of Sleepy Hollow, you are both so talented. I'm coming up to visit with my old roommate on the 20th and we're gonna party the bars lol. Amazing storytelling, great video...

Absolutely fascinating story and I ❤️how they took the time to actually explain all of the historical facts and details . I definitely want to visit Sleepy Hollow soon 🖤
What a great story. I visited Sleepy Hollow, and Washington Irving’s home. I’m obsessed with the town and surrounding areas, and have been since I was a child, growing up in NJ. I’ve always felt as if I was being pulled to the Hudson Valley, for reason’s I can’t explain. I envy you living there.
How nice to hear. Glad you enjoy your stays when you visit. It is so magnificent history in the area. And great that it is deeply connected to literature as well
Another item on my sleepy hollow bucket list! Also i was this many years old, when i learned about finding the stars when you cut the apple a certain way. 🍎🍏
Such an amazing, intriguing and tragic story. I’d imagine that Hulda would be like a Wiccan since she dealt with the herbs and did healing . A friend of mine is a Wiccan , she would enjoy this story.

What an amazing story.
There are very interesting parallels between Hulda and the legend of Frau Hulda (or Frau Holle), a Mythological German figure of winter. Known in Fairytales as Grandmother Frost. She's also the possible inspiration behind Mother Goose.
Just a connection my brain made.
How interesting connections you mentions! I love it! Thank you for taking the time to watch our video and drop your nice comment!
This was fantastic! Thank you Lindsay and Jonas - and special thank you to Carla and Keyes! 🪄
