Love the install videos. I know as a creator sometimes you just don't know when you upload how the video will perform. You did great on this. It flowed well and a good watch from start to finish. Which is the norm for your channel. Great job.
I can so relate to this video. I myself live on an old farm from around 1830 and I have the same setup. I use 3 USW flex switches connected to poe++ ports on the 24 port switch pro. Also a lot of AP's connected and cameras. But the biggest hassle has been to drag wires all over the place. What a pain, but for now all is up and running. Cody has been my go-to inspiration and knowledge base. Couldn't have done it without you.
As an sophisticated user, I can't recommend this RUclips tutorial enough. It's a game-changer for anyone looking to optimize their farm's connectivity using Ubiquiti WiFi and PoE gear. It's incredibly informative and will empower you to take your network to the next level. Great work!
If it snows at this house, that camera on the pool house is is not going to like having a bunch of snow slowly coming down on it. If it were me, I would place it just under that eave. Less expensive to knock down snow curtains than it is to replace a camera. Awesome work so far on everything else! Waiting impatiently for the next video!
9:15 why did you go for a open frame and not a closed case - i only can think of the dust and i guess it was not cheap the whole install, so i guess it was not so much on the price to go open case, or was it and why? Interessting video, thy for sharing
Been using one of those dewalt gyro drivers for 7 years now... they're solid. Still on the original driver and batteries and I've used it on a ton of jobs.
The fire crackling and jingle bell Christmas music was a bit weird lol. Nice job! I love using the USW Flex with using the utility box. And it comes with a power brick too. Great box! It comes with the cable for the power brick to flew switch. They always come with that little cable. It's a perfect length.
Excellent install job, great video to watch. Please keep these install videos coming - they are the best! I would love to see a video where you install cat6 cables/cameras/APs etc. to a home with pre-existing ethernet cables and do some clean-up cable management with the existing wiring.
I got my Ubiquiti 24 port keystone panel installed to see waht its will look like and I am a little disapointed in the design quality. For starters when I put my keystone jacks in they would catch against the metal plate frequently that I was afriad I wad going to bend the edges. Also when I went to put on the rack ears I noticed they only drilled for 2 holes on the panel itself and not 4 like you get on the ears (plus the extra screws). I guess they felt they wanted to save money and instead of making a quality product they cheaped out. Also this is just more of a reminder they plate that connects to the panel so you can tie your wires to it must go one first before you attemp to put your keystone jacks in otherwise you have to take them all out and reinsert them. I personally never used one of those plates and I haven't seen them being used out the field much.
Wondering if you had plans for a Unifi Camera overview? Something to compare all the cameras that are currently sold. Specs are a part of the comparison but seeing actual footage and sound clips are very helpful when selecting a camera. Also the AI Pro, has it been released in Canada yet? In curious to see how it stacks up against the other Professional cameras.
Those flex switches seem pretty solid. I have them scattered all over. One is on the side of a hydro pole and gets direct sun. Doesn't seem to phase em. I did have a 60 watt Poe injector go side ways though. It powered the switch but could not support the load. I like these videos. I follow alot of your techniques for cabling etc!
Good work & Video! BTW the 8 U Rack is a few feet from a small Window, even though it's 3/4 underground it might get somehow cold & moist down there - the NVR would have been better 'inside' the House RE long Harddisk life
I'd personally be using shielded outdoor rated cable (either gel filled or dry tape) for anything outdoors. Plus surge protectors at every outdoor device (cameras and APs) and before they plug into the switches. I've seen devices fried by lightning hits or static discharges from nearby lightning hits. Better to have some protection than nothing at all. It's too bad UI doesn't make those enclosures with cable loops inside, so you can have your service loop inside, like fiber enclosures that ISPs use. How wet or humid does that basement get? I'd be worried about longevity of network equipment down there if it isn't somewhat climate controlled.
Nice realistic install video man. Always nice to see how ones work compares to others who are working in real world environments. Hope we get to see the rest of the install to finish.
For the extra long run to the Gate: There is a Company that makes CAT5 or 6 that allows 2x the length, i can not recall the name RN. What you can do though is manually set 100M as speed, that's enough for the Camera & Access setup - since the lower speed transmission is less sensitive to interference
Since it’s in a garage let me ask you this, I wanted to put my 1st gen 8-150w switch in my garage and do fiber in conduit. Couldn’t that work or would that switch breakdown being out in a garage
Cody, I saw you put the usw-Flex in the Unifi box, I am looking for a box for my USW-Lite-16-POE, any suggestions ? Also do you think the 16 port POE will be too hot in the box in the garage?
Nice to see something like this & I can say I like those vid's a lot... make sure that you make them more if you can, would be awesome. 😊😅 Keep it up Cody. ✌️💪😊🔥
Great video! Not a critique, just a question, but shouldn't there be an in-line Ethernet surge suppressor on the run to the pool house? I think that's what the shielded patch cable that came with the enclosure is for. Again, thank you for the video! Love the real-world installs like this that others have said.
Can you recommend a male jack (small! to fit in the routers) for CAT7 cable in Amazon DE or other Europe site, I have tried on different runs and on them in the UDM interface it said FE connection and when I switch to female jack for CAT6a with patch cable it said GbE and speeds went from 380 to 800.
What’s the best point to point solution with UniFi when not cabled (for a wifi experience at the other end)? Ie if you had two farm houses 50m apart with one house fully cabled with gigabyte? (My Wifi6 LR’s barely seem to make it even with an off brand extender on the other side, I go from gigabit down to about 12mbit)
I always thought pointing out exactly where someones security cameras are was a bad idea because then someone could figure out where the blind spots are. I do intrusion alarm systems and I know that's different, but I would never make a video pointing out where the sensors are. The geoguesser community could probably locate this house in under an hour
Great video! I was already wondering 100+meter cable will degrade the speed. Even at the pool house where you still getting good throughput? Anyhow love the content as always!
Ich schaue gerne deine Installations Videos. Die Pool Kamera hätte ich aber unter dem Dachvorsprung montiert damit wäre sie auch grad weniger der Witterung ausgesetzt. 😉
Just wondering if you are concerned about the operating temperature of some of the equipment? I also installed a flex mini in my shed and according to the specs its good for -5C to 45C.
Why isn't the Starlink router down there with you, not in some other location. Also I always delete the Starlink router from my sites and use direct power injection
This is a very nice clean install, I love how neat the install looks... but I was curious why you didn't add a UPS to the rack, for installs like this I use an APC Smart-UPS 500VA (SCL500RM1UC) which has Smart Connect (alert & monitoring), which you could sell as an add-on service for your clients to be alerted on power issues.

As a network admin myself, I really enjoy this style videos. Nice to watch how other people do things and learn a thing or two.
Hoping for a "Part 2" of this! Like others have mentioned, loved seeing you go about this "real world" job at a residential property.
Love the install videos. I know as a creator sometimes you just don't know when you upload how the video will perform. You did great on this. It flowed well and a good watch from start to finish. Which is the norm for your channel. Great job.
Thanks appreciate you watching :)
I finally got my flex mini and utility box installed outside my house. Was easy once I watched your videos enough 😂❤
So one question Cody would that always be ideal on these “remote idfs” just use a flex mini or the 10gb version and a utility box?
I think that could work you just need to look at the operating temperature to see if that switch could handle the heat or cold
@@MactelecomNetworks makes sense. I’m in Alabama and our temperature is almost everything year round. Mostly heat would be my enemy.

cool looking property enjoy watching the real world installs.
Great video! I was totally not expecting the inside of the barn to look like this...
Ya it was creepy . Luckily they are renovating it all
If it snows at this house, that camera on the pool house is is not going to like having a bunch of snow slowly coming down on it. If it were me, I would place it just under that eave. Less expensive to knock down snow curtains than it is to replace a camera.

Excellent job and great video. I hope you can show us the rest of the work.
I probably will be able to do a follow up
I loved the Install video... question.. what is the thought process on going to NVR's instead of 1 NVR Pro?
Nice video Cody, definately show the the gate integration, I'm hoping to do a gate using Unifi Access.
A follow up video would be great
Ill see if I can. Just need to pick a day when no one is there

I recommend using a Dewalt Gyroscopic cordless screwdriver to save your wrists. Besides that, great video as usual!
I was wondering when someone was gonna mention that 😂 ya I’ll definitely look into that tool I need it
Been using one of those dewalt gyro drivers for 7 years now... they're solid. Still on the original driver and batteries and I've used it on a ton of jobs.
these are my favorite style of videos! super entertaining seeing how you go about different network deployments.
Honestly same I love seeing people do deployment videos!
What was the reasoning being the 2 x UNVR vs just using 1 x UNVR PRO or just 1 UNVR?
The fire crackling and jingle bell Christmas music was a bit weird lol.
Nice job!

I do the same thing all day, every day. Unifi Access, fall back to PDK when that's not possible. Good choices.

I'd really like to see a video with unifi access installed with a gate. I'm thinking about doing this for my home.
If the customer decides to go with access I’ll record it
A second video would be great.
I woould have used an enclosed cabinet in the basement to keep the dust out.
You should get milwakes tower light its 360 light and veru bright for maxmiun visibilty😊 grate video keep on!

excellent work I hope to see the rest finished I congratulate you
Really curious to see how you implement unifi access at the gate
Have you ever used the keystone female to female coupler jacks and just terminated the ends of the cables to a standard rj-45 jack?
I have not
Superb installation and very professional! Well done on this marvelous footage of your work
@MactelecomNetworks - Can you share brand & model of the lamp you use in the basement?
Love the install hope to see the follow up video
always enjoy a good install video.
Great video. I'd love to see follow-up with how you did the gate.

Great setup dude, where did you find the black caps for the blank patch panel?

GameChanger cable. Can do 2.5Gbit, 100w POE over 200m according to their paperwork. I've never used it, though have heard about it from others.

It appears that the Starlink dish isn't high enough to get a clear view of the horizon. Maybe that's less necessary in Canada?
Just curious why you mounted the camera on the very edge of the barn and not under the soffit/overhang? That is the recommended ubiquiti install.
So whats the reason for dual NVR's vs single NVR-Pro? Good job, hope you have a part 2... 🤠👍
Cody, I saw you put the usw-Flex in the Unifi box, I am looking for a box for my USW-Lite-16-POE, any suggestions ? Also do you think the 16 port POE will be too hot in the box in the garage?
What capacity we’re the drives and did you do any RAID configurations. Did you use the drives from Ubiquiti?
Nice to see something like this &

would love a part 2
great video ,thanks for share
Love You Job Cody,This is Awesome :)
Really nice start of a set up shame ubiquity killed there sunmax line up because they look so nice for different outhouses without power in
I think its still around they just had an update for it. Although its impossible to buy

good video, you can use mikrotik gper to extend the ethernet
Ubiquiti also makes something similar but id prefer doing point to point or fiber

Do you never use cable testers to check if all your new Keystone installation have connectivity on all 8 copper lines?
I have to ask, but how is that rack being powered? It didn't seem to have a PDU.
There’s a ups that’s not rack mountable

Any update on the farm? No video yet

@@MactelecomNetworks Really enjoy your install videos!
How do you find these clients?
This is probably a $15-$20k job.
Equipment alone I would think is close to that. This is one of my main customers.
I believe they found me through RUclips or word of mouth
I'm in the wrong business if this is 15-20k...could knock this out in a few days. Although I can't complain, I get paid well for what I do.
why 2 separate nvr?
In a place this dusty, I would have gone for a closed rack.
The basement is getting sealed there will be minimum dust. When it get sealed will be shutting the equipment down and covering it
where is your cap from?
Ubiquiti sent it to me. They have it for sale but I believe only on the USA site
Oh ok thank you for your reply
Indeed only in the usa. 😭
Unifi is great just some of their stuff is overpriced.
Gotta love electricians….
My favorite is when they daisy chain cat5 and pigtail the connections and use wire nuts…
holy crap, electricians are the worst at LV lol
I would not have put the camera on the facer board, water running off the roof could possibly drown the camera.
Only place it could go. There is a window that opens upwards. It’s sealed and has the grommet in will be fine
