It will start to crust a little bit but it can be stored at room temperature for a few days. If you put it on the cake just make sure to keep it in an air tight container. For best results it should be made right before using on the cake.
So why when you leave out cream or milk it spoils and sours but you can add it to butter and sugar and let it sit out IN the frosting and it doesn't smell sour or rotten? Or does it and you just can't tell with a small amount?
Hi Sam, i made my first buttercream batch yesterday and it was absolutely a disaster! It was too grainy i could feel the sugar, what could have caused that? Note that i had a regular granulated sugar and i turned it into powder using the blender, thank you so much 💚

Unforutnately I have never tried it, but I'm not sure how it will work. You do need a good bit so I just can't say for sure. Let me know how it goes if you do try it. :)

Hello I tried you recipe and it did not work it is not my first time trying to do a frosting and it always doesn’t work. I tried it million times in each recipe it is liquid and it has tiny sugar pieces in it . Is there a way you can help me with? Please help

If you don't have heavy cream accessible you can use whole milk or double cream. You would likely need a little less milk or a little bit more double cream. :)

The sugar acts almost like a preservative to keep the small amount of milk from going bad.

You can reduce the sugar, however, the consistency won’t be quite the same so I don’t really recommend it. 😔

Don't use melted butter my cousin did that and it ruined the frosting :(. I just redid it with room temperature and it was great!!!
