If he's not a shining example of "the American Dream" then it never existed to begin with. It's no wonder he and Nova love America so much!

Wow, someone reviews this song in 2024, that’s great. I’m a old White guy, and in the early 70’s I went to a predominantly Black Jr. High School. During my 3 years there I got jumped many times, because of my White skin. Also, throughout my teenage years I was shoot at a half dozen times, for doing nothing more then walking down the street. You might think that that would have made me prejudiced or racist, but it didn’t. I don’t know why, but I was never able to hate a whole group of people for the ignorance of a few. Here’s the outcome of that, I have been blessed with having friends of all different back grounds, relationships that have lasted decades, and my life has been much richer for it. I said that, to say this. My prayer for us, as a nation, is we embrace each other as individuals. A Blackman in America, has about as much connection to Africa, as a Whiteman has to Europe. That’s just where our ancestors came from, we as a people are uniquely American, with a unique American culture that we share. All races and ethnicities have done good and have done bad, but we share a history that has always moved towards a more Perfect Union. Was the road painful, yes, and do we have a ways to go, yes, but it’s indisputable that, we as Americans, have always moved forward. We need to stop crying about the past, and start seeing each other as uniquely American. We live in the most privileged, prosperous, diverse country in the world, and for that we should all be grateful. I grew up in a time when EnVogue was my favourite group and their song “free your mind” pathed the way I thought…. The older group realizes he’s 100% right because we’ve been in this world awhile and know how it really goes. We wish the entire world thought like he does. We believe that a person should be judged by the content of their character instead of the color of their skin. Like everyone else has commented, This House needs to be done asap. As soon as you read this, turn the camera back on while it’s still fresh in your mind. This was Tom’s attempt at bringing people together. This House is his “fuck you for misinterpreting what I was saying” song. He gets deep in his bag lyrically on it. It’s almost a damn masterpiece. HOG will be here waiting 👍

We can come from all sorts of backgrounds and still come to the same conclusions... it's better to treat ppl like a fellow human being and let them tell you who they are than it is to assume based on some immutable characteristic. This one is one where I watch mainly in reactions. I was never into it as much as so many others. I like the message. I like the verses. I've just never felt that screaming part of the chorus.

I believe many men and women who are white like myself can relate to this song of Tom. He is spot on. I was never raised to hate anyone. Many people (of all races) learn to hate from parents or friends or the environment they grow up in.

Tom is able to say the things that are relevant, sometimes uncomfortable, truths because he's truly independent. His team is him. Nova, Jared, now his sister and brother in law as well. It's been awesome watching his rise.

The whole point is you cant judge a whole group as one. Most ppl dont care about colour, they care about how you treat others and your attitude.
