Tune in next week for the one day rat rod build. Three empty Pepsi cans and an old washing machine transformed into an aluminum bodied speedster. Complete with a Hudson straight six he machines from scratch using a rusty piece of bar stock he found! All kidding aside, I have the utmost respect for anyone putting yard art back on the road. Very cool 👍
The Roadster-Pickup will look sweet with running boards and fenders. The stance and proportions of the T Bucket with the V6 looks good. That will make a nice car once you finish it.
I agree with you on the heat cycles to unstick rings. And with no cooling it will happen much faster. It looks like you are getting results already. Damn that V12 is going to be so cool by the time you are finished. 😊
@Dave Iauco you obviously have never owned a 100 year old engine and had to get the rings unstuck You sound like a typical know it all keyboard warrior troll at best and also that waterpimp is serviceable and has grease fittings and press in bearings and does not need coolant for the pump itself
@Dave Iauco just as I am speaking from experience I dont need to be schooled or educated on the subject since I have been doing this myself for 30plus years and that is a flat or t head style engine so it isnt 40 or 50 years old its 75 plus years old. Lycoming has not been in business since prior to ww2
@Dave Iauco if you don't like how the man operates than keep the jerkoff no experience internet troll comments to yourself and watch another video because i don't see you posting any videos of getting old motors to run just you ripping off other peoples content and making ignorant senseless and uneducated remarks
I had an old friend growing up that had an old junk yard. Mom hated that I hung out down there. But they guy was lonely and knew just about anything I could think to ask him about everything. But Jonathan reminds me of my old friend. And I really appreciate his videos and content. It reminds me so much of my younger self and helping my friend. So thanks Jonathan.
I LOVE JONATHAN W - he is far more likable - interesting - informative - creative - with his builds than any other old car or motor powered channel. I hate old storytellers and their need to constantly bemuse with their halcyon recollections and having a collection of old duffers hanging around just to be on RUclips or have their channels promoted. They also feel a need to have a rock ` n roll - hillbilly - Plinky twangy banjo music over-riding the videos. Jonathan has an opening soundtrack - and then it ends. All you see and hear is him and voice, as he explains what it is he's doing, and why. There is no puffed-up ego or a setting within a garage, barn museum-like setting chocked full of antiques, signage, petroleum-related collectibles, and six other old cars in the background. Some of you may have issues with how Jonathan does things - too bad. He is his own man and if you don't like what you see, then quit watching. I watch it to LEARN. I LOVE to meet Jonathan one day. NO one else - just him.
I am in love with the roadster pickup already. can not wait to see how she turns out! Stay healthy, keep up the good work! Thanks for sharing the fun with us!
That V12 sounds awesome Jonathan 🙂👍 love seeing you save all this old iron my friend. Keep up the great work. You're a *HUGE* inspiration on here for us gear heads ❤❤
Unfortunately if he let us all hang out he'd never get nothing done, be to many of us. He'd just keep bumping into us standing around asking questions and wanting to help. LOL
Lived only 20 miles from Lycoming Engine plant where my x father in law was an engineer on there builds. Brilliant gentalman. He helped develope the variable valve train many years ago among other things. Johnathan makes things live again, YEA!
Thanks for the update Jonathan. I've said it before I like hood and fenders .we really like what you are doing there. Will be cool. Central California watching
Another great video Johnathan. The fenders are going to look great. The yard art car looks pretty cool too. And the engine has almost stop smoking. The video made my morning.
That V12 is just about the coolest engine I ever seen for a hot rod. Jonathan, when your finished with whatever you do with that engine it will be a show stopper.
Jonathan good stuff always finds a way to your home ,thats a nice frame set up ,really like those fenders on the happy, days truck ,i see you put one of you old chevy V6 engines in that T bucket awesome can,t wait to watch yah work on these builds nice V 12 hope you got a place for that thanks for posting stay safe ...
Excellent picture and message plus videos Johnathon :) love seen that V12 run and carbs useing to are on fire trucks The Bickle Seagrave my used had 1000CFM Holley carb 2 chokes each on each 4bbl with 2 carbs on V12 and funny how get started when explain on previous video !
That V12 sounds so smooth! You'd expect something out of an old fire truck to be some unruly brute roaring away chomping at the heels of thunder... But nope, smooth as silk mind a couple sputters that can be tuned out. How cool is that. Fun stuff Mr.W!
Those fenders were meant for the pickup roadster. They looking very fitting under that Swan. Again thank you so much for the ending you use. That little 5 window really does something for me . Knowing what it started as just adds to the admiration. Stay healthy!
That v12 runs nicer and nicer I was a little skeptical at first about it smoking but I understood what you was doing. The fenders are going to look really good on the roadster pick up I really like that idea! As always great videos! I look forward to each one and I always learn something, you sir are an inspiration to me and I love making stuff out of junk and scrap.
Man I'm 57 years old and I have been working on stuff all my life, but I don't hold a candle to you doesn't seem to matter what it is old or new you can fix it and make it run I really enjoy your videos and can't hardly wait until the next one, see ya next time 😎
I will be the first to admit I have never started an engine outside a car and run it for more than a couple of minutes. I have watched you do it so many times since subscribed to your channel and none of them burned up, threw a rod, seized or seemed to be damaged by doing it. I usually know what I don't know, lots of people don't, I am always amazed at how many you start that I would have thought would never have had a chance. Further proof that I don't know nearly as much as you about that, too bad that more people like me should just stand back and let someone who knows do his stuff. Great work as usual.
Great way to loosen up stuck internal parts by heat cycling what you do. Don't worry about the negative comments. I have been watching your video's for years and you know your engine stuff. Video's are a pleasure to watch and to learn from as well. Cheers !
I am diggin the fenders! It just has the right look!! Seems like that engine is clearing up right at the end there Jonathan! I'm excited to see more on these!!
Good update. I think the mock ups are great. The model T frame is neat. It will make an interesting vehicle. It's nice watching the V-12 smoke less and less. A good lesson. As always, thanks and Meow to Ninja Catscan, wherever she may be.
Those big fenders dress off the Roadster-Pickup nice! New NOS Zeniths? Awesome! The V-6 mockup looks fantastic. The American-LaFrance V-12 is a beast! Can't wait to see it moving something down the road. Nana must be napping in this heat! Thanks for your channel!
This pick up is going to be , the dogs bollocks , cool just ain't the word , want to see it finished right now . . Jonathan your a genius . . Keep em coming .
Jonathan, I've watched so many of your videos by now, I feel like I know you. I know you wouldn't run an engine for long periods of time without coolant. (Unless to state it). I trust you... I'm beginning to believe you can cure a rainy day!! As a matter of fact, YOU HAVE!!!!! On those rainy days, I watch your pre-released videos and I cheer right up! Keep on doing what your doing, STAY HEALTHY!!! (oh, I'm telling you how to live?) You're temperature cycling the engine. Gotcha.
Jonathan you know what you're doing so far it doesn't sound like too bad of an engine maybe some valve issues, but really it doesn't sound too bad and wow what a great find on those carburetors New Old Stock military wow well you're the guy that knows where to look that's for sure. Keep up the great work I can't wait to see that beast in a vehicle talk about a smokey burnout. Stay safe stay well and as always God bless
Yes, full fenders is just what the roadster pickup needs! That will look awesome! The ALF engine isn't running too bad, and great score on the carburetors!
THANK YOU, All good stuff. Yes fenders help make the shape. Understand the V12 was cooled down but it is still weird not to have water cooling. It sounds pretty darn nice. The V6 looks great. I really want to try to do a V6 Hydro into in MiniBlazer body. Lowered. You took that break to do the diesel engine swap and it seemed to reenergize us all. LOVE the engines you do but those Hot Rods are simply BOSS. It gives me the fever to build one. Take care, Dennis in Virginia
Hey Jonathan..I've done the same thing on old engines .. let them heat up and cool down sometimes it works..my dad showed me this trick many years ago..that 12 cylinder would be nice in a rollback ..plenty of power .. looks your getting things together and having fun .. i appreciate your videos I'm sure everyone else does too..see you on the next one..Cheers 🍻🍻🍻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Morning Jonathan, ya know, every day I find myself looking for a new posting from you, I am subscribed, I still look anyway. It amazes me the cool stuff you pick up...sooner or later you will need a area for storing future projects, is your helper still around? Haven't seen much of him in your videos. Anyway best of luck to you & your family. God Bless!!
Hi Jonathan, sure glad to see an update on the roadster pickup, I love your choice on the front fenders, if you have some rear fenders that come near them, it will really finish off the styling. I think that stretched chassis on the trailer will make a great bed for the American LaFrance V-12. Good Grief, I just saw a thumbnail for a Rat Rod show in Las Vegas that was showing a VW Bug with a front mounted V-8 and thought "how would that look with the LaFrance V-12? I better get outa here before I lose my mind completely. Thanks for sharing, God Bless, stay safe and Meow to Ninja Catscan.
Back in '67 I bought a '40 Ford 5 window for $50. If I got caught at a light I had to shut it off, smoked so bad you couldn't see when the light changed. LOL Could not get the heads off that flathead so I sold it. Sure wish I had it now. Good job on the heat cycle ring repair. Thanks for sharing.
I was thinking about the way you was heating it up and cooling it down even before you said you was doing it to try to get the rings unstuck. I've bought plenty of engines from the wrecking yard and had to do that with some of them. Don't know what you paid for all them parts but sometimes you've got to get them when you come across them. Really good video. Might have about a week of good weather so maybe you'll be able to get some more done on your little pickup. Thanks again for your time.
That big beast has been waiting for someone just like you for a new life! Its super cool and will power an awesome hotrod!
I'm keen to see fenders on the pickup. It'll give it a touch of class.
Tin can blows in. Jonathan: "It's a little split but I can work with that." Creates awesome hotrod.
🤣🤣😁❤👍👍
Got that right 👍

Jonathan you have a Blessed Week Take Care
The Roadster-Pickup will look sweet with running boards and fenders. The stance and proportions of the T Bucket with the V6 looks good. That will make a nice car once you finish it.
Awesome build ahead ...in the USA , you have amazing parts to build ..from. Your ideas are mind blowing..lol thanks for posting Jonathan .
I agree with you on the heat cycles to unstick rings. And with no cooling it will happen much faster. It looks like you are getting results already.
Damn that V12 is going to be so cool by the time you are finished. 😊
Well the truth is anyone who disagrees doesn't know much about how thermal expansion works. If done this numerous times on motors to loosen rings up
@Dave Iauco you obviously have never owned a 100 year old engine and had to get the rings unstuck
You sound like a typical know it all keyboard warrior troll at best and also that waterpimp is serviceable and has grease fittings and press in bearings and does not need coolant for the pump itself

Coffee and a video from Jonathan. Doesn't get much better than that. Really cool to watch the coordination of his hands, like an artist.
Very cool,that sounded very lucky.
I LOVE JONATHAN W - he is far more likable - interesting - informative - creative - with his builds than any other old car or motor powered channel.

Jonathan has an opening soundtrack - and then it ends. All you see and hear is him and voice,

Well said!
I agree with everything you say about JW; he is simply awesome.
I quess that is just correct! thanks! We like Jonathan is most likely the best in YT. Another is Paul Henshaw. Both are no-nonsense individuals.
Think I saw you lurking about Pete C’s cortina city.
Yep, don't know a more exciting thing to watch on RUclips. If ya don't smell like 100% CAR after shooting a video -lame.
I know the channels to which you refer.
I agree no content just b.s.
Love these projects and loving seeing a new video from Jonathan. Makes my Saturday!

Can I come hang out and learn stuff? Man you're the uncle I never had.

That V12 is just about the coolest engine I ever seen for a hot rod. Jonathan, when your finished
with whatever you do with that engine it will be a show stopper.
Engines sitting on the ground without a platform running is your money shot. I could watch that all day and never get bored. More please.
The fenders on the straight eight really make it look "AWESOME"
I think he is going for that look of the 1930s.
Back then, cars looked like a work of art and had curves and style; just like a Woman...
That's gonna look really cool ! Can't wait to see it all happen !!! Thanks for the video .....

I love seeing all the random junk you throw together and turn into art.
That v12 runs nicer and nicer I was a little skeptical at first about it smoking but I understood what you was doing. The fenders are going to look really good on the roadster pick up I really like that idea! As always great videos! Great video, love that V12 engine. 💖
V12 is sounding great man, and I am really digging the roadster pickup with the fenders!
God Bless!!

What a good sounding engine!
That is the most smooth running engine I've ever seen.
LOL
Could not get the heads off that flathead so I sold it.
